The door to the truck was seemingly flapping in the wind, and if Shay had been outside, her jaw would be as well. Her jaw was hanging there.

And just like that, the wind subsided. In fact, it completely stopped. She messaged her online friend from New York, asking if a strong wind had recently blown past, and if not, then stay inside until it does. He replied, saying that he would and his parents hadn't come home when they should've by now. Shay shuddered, then replied with a simple "ok". She then asked her friend from school, Jayden, the same question. He eventually responded saying that there had been a wind. She asked another question, whether or not he would meet with her at school the next day. He agreed (with much reluctance, Shay figured) and asked if everyone still stayed in the cafeteria in the morning like they would on a normal school day, and Shay confirmed. Completely shaken, she slunk up the stairs and crawled into her bed, pulling her blanket up over her head, hoping her worries were meaningless.
