Chapter Three - Odin's Son.

My father leads Loki and I into our Longhouse.
The tools on the walls and the earthy smell give me a feeling of security as my father Iwaldi closes the door.

My father leads us to the bench that lines the side of our house. Taking a seat and allowing me to sit next to him.

Loki looks at me disapprovingly, obviously upset that a woman would be trusted this information.

"My daughter is second in command here, ever since her real mother died. Anything you have to say to me she can hear as well." My father says gruffly.

Loki takes a deep breath then sits down and speaks.

"I have come to warn you that the Jotuns are going to attack." He says seriously, looking my father in the eye.

"Jotuns?" My father asks confusedly.

I look at the packed earth under my feet as the men talk.

"They are the blue creatures who have been attacking other settlements around here." Loki explains, taking another breath as he continues. "They are targeting the banks of a river not very far from here. In fact I believe my brother was sent to warn that settlement. - Although that was a stupid decision as he cannot speak your language...-" Loki mutters.

My father looks contemplatively at the ground. I take the silence as a time for me to speak.

"Is this all you know about the attack?" I ask, leaning forward to look at Loki.

Loki's bright green eyes flicker over to me and he replies gravely. "That, and that it will be in three days..."

I nod slowly, as I contemplate what the stranger said.

"How do we know you aren't working with them?" My father speaks up. "You could tell our troops to go to the river while your troops attack from the forest."

Loki sighs heavily. "Because, as I have already told you, I'm from Asgard..."

"That's not a claim you can back up." My father replies, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Yes it is! My name is Loki son of Odin." Loki speaks clearly, springing to his feet.

My father scoffs, he stands up putting his body between me and Loki.

I stand up slowly behind him as my father protectively shields me.

"Sigyn, get Theoric... this man is obviously mad!" My father scoffs.

"I am not mad! I can prove it!" Loki denies vehemently, his hands clenching into fists.

"You can prove that you are a god?" My father smirks, as I wait patiently to see what would happen.

"Yes." Loki replies.

The tension in the air could not be cut by a knife. I need to do or say something quickly so nothing gets out of hand.

I see my father's grip on his axe tighten again, as he raises his arm to strike Loki.

My father stands tall his eyes almost level with Loki's. His stance a clear challenge.

"You are no god." My father spat, angry at Loki's perceived disrespect to the gods.

"Father stop!" I exclaim as he swings a massive arm toward Loki.

Loki de-materializes in a flash of green and re appears at the other end of our longhouse. My heart drops to my stomach.

"You brought this on yourself!" Loki says angrily as two daggers appear in his hands.

My father's jaw drops.
