The ballroom in Nott Manor is filled with wealthy men, women and children all here for one reason and one reason only. To see the start of a new life between Violet Blishen and Thomas Nott. The two wealthiest families in the wizarding world are combining tonight, and not one person wants to miss this show.

Nothing this exciting and emotional has happened since the day Harry Potter and Ginny Potter had their first child. That was eighteen years ago.

After almost two decades finally something to celebrate. The only daughter of the Minister of Magic and the only son of an Auror who was a former death eater, no one would have guessed it.

In the middle of the room are organized pairs, waltzing their way across the dance floor. But on opposite sides of the room like enemies, are the pair of the night – Thomas and Violet. Violet is being pushed back against the wall by Hermione Granger-Weasley who is drunkenly giving advice to Violet.

All the way across the room is Thomas, a glass of champagne in his hand as he stretches out his neck to see Violet. Ron Weasleys voice is muffled while Thomas' attention moves away from the boring conversation of floor tiles and home renovations.

Thomas can see how bored and terrified Violet is. And even though he knows he's the last person she wants to see, he can't stand by bored out of his mind while she's bored too.

"E-excuse me –" he stutters as his hand grips Ron's shoulders to push past him. "– sorry."

He walks away – leaving Ron with his mouth full of words – and squeezes through the dancers on the floor as he makes his way to Violet. He chugs his champagne before setting it on one of the high tables behind Hermione.

As he inches closer, Violets eyes move from the wavy-haired woman to the brunette making his way to her in rescue. She tries to contain the smile that's itching to show on her lips but she can't help it when he puts his hand around her waist and starts to pull her away from this awkward situation.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Weasley but I need to have a moment with her." Thomas bows his head and whirls Violets body around, walking away from Hermione. He turns to whisper in her ear as they walk further away. "You looked like you could use some help."

Violet pushes his hand off her waist and she smiles as they lean against an empty table. "Thank you for that." she reaches for champagne off a waiters tray and brings it up to her lips. "She was talking to me about children and motherhood. Merlin forbid that's my future. Vomit."

Thomas forces a smile on his face as he drinks from his flask but he wants to ask why she doesn't want children. Then again, is that really a question when she clearly doesn't want him? So, he imagines she would die before having his children.

"Yeah." he chuckles quietly and shakes his head. "Children are not in the books for me either."

"Wow look at us –" Violet raises her glass, laughing at the situation. "– were finally on the same page about something."

"Look. At. Us."

The pair exchange glances before things begin to get awkward between them. A few moves to the right from Violet and she's no longer by his side but walking away from the table to find anyone else to talk to.

Someone interesting at least.

As she's walking away, Violet turns back to look at Thomas who's still standing at the table. But just a second of distraction causes her to collide against something hard and she's thrown back.

Her body is caught mid-air, a strong hand held against her bare back and her hair fallen back as she stays leaned back. Violet gasps for air and her eyes open, meeting a pair of blue eyes with long lashes over them.

She's brought up on her heels and she sighs in relief but the persons hand still remains on her back. They're using it to pull her body against theirs, making her breasts rub against their chest and it makes her breathing stagger.

"I thought you weren't going to be here." Violet gasps. "I haven't seen you till now; I was beginning to worry."

Theo gulps and finally removes his hand away from her skin. "And I thought you were upset with me?"

"Just because I'm upset doesn't mean I can't worry."

Their bodies remain close, so close that they're sharing the same breaths. He can see every detail in her hazel eyes and she can see every detail in his flushed cheeks and swollen lips.

Before Theo can even begin apologizing for the hundredth time, Violet is whisked away by Pansy. Her lips were parted as she was pulled away, almost as if she was going to say something to but now, he'll never get to know what it was.

He reaches out for her but it's too late, Pansy has already taken her to the middle of the room where Thomas is waiting.

The love of his life just got pulled away from him before they can tell each other anything else. She's getting engaged and it's his fault and he can't tell her anything else!

Violet stops in the middle of the dance floor, feeling all eyes on her and the boys getting down on his knee in front of her. Her heart is beating out of her chest and she is trying not to make it noticeable to the audience around her.

It calms her to see how terribly Thomas' hand is shaking, making the diamond ring inside of it tremble in the cushion.

And although all of this is going on. She just wants to know... What is he going to say?

"Violet." he clears his throat, looking up at her through her lashes.

There's a long pause from him saying her name and he looks over to Pansy who's mouthing words to him. She's giving him his speech but he's not saying anything. He's kneeling there with his mouth open and a ring in his hand.

"Violet." he repeats and looks away from Pansy, going off script. "We met on the first day of September in our first class. And you were the first girl I ever confessed my love to. Now that's a lot of firsts, right?"

The circle of people around them fill the room with awes and Violet furrows her eyebrows as a fake smile curls onto her lips. She doesn't know what to say about this, well she does but she doesn't want to say anything to this.

"You're an amazing person." he continues. "You bring light into rooms you walk into and I mean tonight you have a gold dress on so I guess that just makes my words even more true. But I just want to tell you, that I think you're beautiful."

Violet's focus is taken from the boys proposing to her and instead it's now on his father who's walking onto the dance floor behind Thomas. He has his arms folded across his chest and tears forming in his eyes as he stares down at the forced fiancés.

Her breathing starts to get patchier and everything around her goes quiet. It's just the sound of her heart beating in her ear and the air coming out of her parted lips.

"Violet?" Thomas' muffled voice pulls Violet out of her haze and she raises her eyebrows at the boy. "Violet I- I asked."

The questions coming and her heart is beating even faster if it's possible.

"Do you want to be my wife?"

-

"No." Violet shakes her head and steps back, looking around at the shocked faces. "I don't want to marry you; I love someone else."

Violet runs past Thomas – who's still on his knee but with his face frozen with embarrassment. She gasps and throws her arms Theo's neck, pulling him into a kiss that will get them into trouble but she knows it's worth taking that risk.

Her back arches as Theo leans down more into the kiss and his hands push into her bare back, holding her body close to his.

-

"I do." Violet replies after her long pause. "I do."

The crowds around them burst into gasps and cheers, making Thomas sigh in relief that he wasn't publicly humiliated.

He gets off his knee and takes Violets left and in his own, sliding the diamond ring onto her ring finger. Now with her hand in his, he uses it to pull her into a hug to give the audience the show they're expecting.

The show of two teenagers who are so in love they just have to get engaged.

"Thank you for saying yes." he whispers as his hold around her body loosens.

"I didn't have much of a choice." Violet clenches her jaw. "See you at home I guess."

Violet walks off into the crowd of women asking to see her ring with big smiles on their faces. They're practically more excited than she is and that freaks her out.

Her hand is grabbed by dozens but mainly by Cressida who is sobbing her eyes out and being comforted by Rose. It makes Violet laugh a little because she never imagined Cressida to be the type of person for this thing.

Violet looks behind Cressidas head and sees Genevieve walking into the ballroom in a royal blue dress. She has her hair waved neatly and her makeup is just perfect but the look on her face is such a sad look that it makes Violet feel guilty.

It makes her feel guilty because for once, Genevieve loved someone – Scorpius. And because of Violet, the Malfoys had to leave, taking Scorpius with them and now here Genevieve is all alone, walking into an engagement party with couples all around.

"Excuse me." Violet whispers to the crowd of ladies.

She steps back and makes her way through the crowds of people to get to Genevieve. Her lips form a sad frown as she reaches her and Genevieve shrugs, knowing what Violet is thinking without either of them saying a word.

"I don't know why I thought he would be here." Genevieve looks at her feet, tears dropping onto her leather heels. "I miss him terribly."

Violet looks at their surroundings and sees Thomas, Rose, and Cressida approaching them. Her frown turns into a straight line and her eyebrows furrow, like she has an idea.

"This party blows." Violet scoffs as she shakes her head in disappointment. "Roof?"

"Roof." they all reply in unison.

Thomas turns around and gathers some clean glasses off a table while Cressida accios some liquor from the bar across the room.

As everyone is distracted by the orchestra beginning to play, the five of them sneak out of the ballroom and run for the staircase.

They all continue running up the many flights of stairs until they reach the last door of the first corridor. It's been a while since they've done this, then again last time it was without Rose and Genevieve. It's different not having Scorpius around but it's not like Violet has to say anything about it because they all feel it.

Cressida pushes open the roof door and they're all hit with a cold gust of wind, making them shiver. It's dark out as they step onto brick roof that's slanted, making all of them wish they don't fall.

"It's cold up here." Violet shivers as they all take a seat at the edge of the roof with their feet dangling in the air.

"Here take my coat." Thomas offers as he places it on her shoulders.

Rose pours bourbon into glasses and passes them down to everyone, setting the bottle aside when she pours them all.

Violet sighs into the cold night air, emitting a gut of visible air from her painted lips. She brings the glass of bourbon to her lips and she can't help but get flashbacks from the night in Theo's office when Draco kissed her.

"Draco." Theo speaks with a hint of desperateness in his voice. "Give the girl a drink, she loves being taken care of."

She swallows the burning liquid and looks up at the full moon, bringing her hand up to see how her engagement ring sparkles under the moonlight. It makes her terrified how much has changed since that night.

Draco is gone. Theo and her almost had a child. Cressida is out to her parents and has a girlfriend. Now Violet is engaged.

With a shaky hand, Draco lifts up Violets glass and Violet turns to face him while parting her lips for him to put the glass between them.

Instead, he tosses the glass aside and rushes into a kiss, leaving her without a last breath. She feels Theo attack her neck with kisses and a couple of sucks and she moans into Draco's mouth, causing him move faster.

Like said, so much has changed.
