Violet arrives in front of her home after a long three-hour train ride and a portkey from Kings Cross to Devon England. She stands with a small trunk in her hand and a disgusted frown on her face at thought of her mother and what she did. There's nothing more upsetting than finding out about a decade long secret and piecing the clues together of everything.
She lets out a sigh and begins to walk forward as her heels click on the stone pavement and the two guards outside of the gate open it for her. Her parents bought the most expensive house in town, thirteen bedrooms, two floors, a grand foyer, marble floors, a ball room. Violets mother said she needed a big home; she bets her father regrets it now.
As Violet reaches the front doors, they open and Violet hears loud chatter coming from her fathers office. She drops her trunk and coat with the maid and rages towards the office doors. She swings them open without a warning knock and the conversation that was going on stops and she notices that her father is talking with Draco Malfoy.
"Daddy." She sighs and bats her watery eyes at her father. "I'm so sorry!"
Ignoring the conversation and Draco's company, Carl stands up and goes to hug his daughter with sadness. Violet hugs him back tighter and her eyes lift up and meet with her Professors eyes as he sits back in one of the office chairs and clenches his jaw.
"Your mother is upstairs." Carl informs Violet and places a kiss on her head before taking a seat in his chair. "Violet please say hello to Mr. Malfoy."
Manners. Right. One of the most important things in the Blishen family.
Violet sophisticatedly turns her body and smiles at Draco. "Good evening, Professor." She turns back to her father and smiles a real smile. "I'll see you later daddy. Forgive me for interrupting."
Carl gives her a nod and Violet turns towards the doors and walks out, eyeing the maids in the corner who are whispering and looking at her. She brushes it off and walks up the stairs while holding onto the banister and rushing her speed.
"Lara!" Violet shouts as she reaches the master bedroom at the end of the corridor. She slides the doors open and sees her mother sitting at the end of the bed with her head buried into the tissue that's in her hand. "You are crying?!"
Violets mother looks up with her eyebrows furrowed and she swallows her tears. "Don't speak to me that way I am still your mother!"
"Apparently, we should tell the entire world not to speak to you that way because you're obviously mother to half the population!"
Lara slaps Violet across the face and she quickly regrets it and gasps into her hands. "Violet –" she grabs Violets face and cries even harder. "– you don't understand. I never meant to be unfaithful to your father, he's a good man."
"A good man?" Violet mocks and steps back from her mother. "He's a great man! If you thought him a good man and never meant it as you say, you would have never done it! You just can't admit that you're a whore who cheats on her husband and gives her babies away!"
"Get out of my house!" Lara cries out and points towards the door. "You think you can come in her and disrespect me? The woman who birthed you! Violet I don't recognize you anymore!"
There's a small moment of silence and then it hits Violet.
"You're kicking me out?" Violet gasps and feels her tears start falling down her pale cheeks. "I'm your daughter!"
Lara walks towards the door and shouts out, "Clarissa! Pack Violets belongings and leave them at the front door!" When she hears hesitation from the maid she enrages and steps out towards the railings. "Now Clarissa!"
"Mom please no!" Violet shouts and paces back and forth with her mother as she watches their maid bring out multiple trunks filled with Violets things. "I have no where to go! You can't do this!" Violet runs down the stairs and stops Clarissa from moving anything else. "Stop it! My father is going to hear about this and he'll tell you to take everything back up!"
"Not with that filthy mouth of yours." Lara shouts down to Violet and turns to Clarissa. "You keep moving those trunks! I order you not her!"
Clarissa continues to bring down Violets belonging and ignores Violets shouts. Carl's office doors open and he looks between his wife and his daughter. "What in Merlin's name is going on out here?"
"Excuse me." Draco walks out of the office and leaves the home with his eyes glued onto Violet and her sad puppy eyes.
"Daddy, she's trying to kick me out!" Violet rushes over to her father and hugs his torso tightly. "You can't let her do this."
"Of course not!" Carl responds and scolds Lara with his eyes. "She is our daughter you can not do this to her. Not now."
Violet sobs in the crook of Carl's neck and he rubs her back in a comforting way as he's done since she was just a little girl. Her father has always been the one to get her out of trouble with her mother and bring her food when she was to mad to leave her bedroom.
"She's of age!" Lara shouts dramatically and stretches her arms out to emphasize her point. "If she chooses to disrespect me, she will leave. This is not how we raised her. For Merlin's sake look at how she's dressed!"
Carl looks down at Violet and he just scoffs into his hands as he rubs his face. This is when Violet realizes that he's going to do it. He's going to take her mothers side because of how she's dressed!
"Daddy don't this." Violet sighs and shakes her head as tears continue to drop onto her cheeks and her lips become swollen.
He takes in a deep breath and closes his eyes to avoid seeing her heart break when he says the next words carefully and with full remorse. "Violet I think you should leave. At least till your mother thinks it's right for you to return."
"No, no, no." Violet's crying turns into begging sobs and she covers her mouth in nose with her hands in a praying position. "Please no! Please!"
Carl's breathing starts to quicken and he walks back into his office before the tears pooling up in his eyes become visible. Not being able to believe what just happened, Violet stays with her body facing the office doors. She finally turns to her mother who turns her back to Violet and walks up the stairs with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Leave Violet." Is the last thing she hears from her mother, before she reaches the end of the corridor and goes into her bedroom.
Violet looks at the four large trunks next to the door and weakly starts to pick them up as she sniffles and lets her tears hit the trunks leather. She doesn't even get a last look of the house; she just walks out and struggles to keep her arms high.
"Violet."
She screams loud with fright and drops her trunks, slamming the person to the wall next to her. Advantages of being trained in battle tactics. She realizes that it's Professor Malfoy she has choked against the wall and she lets him go.
"Oh my gosh!" She gasps and pats his shoulder as he struggles to catch his breath. "I'm so, so sorry! I thought you were going to attack me."
"Attack you?!" He snarls and fixes his cloak as he stand straight. "Who do you have trying to murder you?"
Violet scrunches her expression and just rolls her eyes. "It's common for a random to do it, don't be so dumb."
"Don't retaliate." Draco mocks and lets out a sigh. "I stayed back to offer you to stay at Malfoy Manor until you get on your feet."
"No, this is ridiculous." She replies and picks her trunks back up before starting to walk again. "I can't believe you!" She turns around and scolds him. "Honestly what even are you?! Are you my Professor or what? You're sending me mixed signals and I'm so fucken tired of it!"
"Violet –"
"No! You let me finish!" She shakes her finger in his face and scolds him again. "You call me a child but then this past week you flirt with me, brush up against me, get into my head! Why are you doing this to me?!"
"Because –"
"Because nothing!" She interrupts him once again and he rolls his eyes with frustration. "You are a cowar–"
Her angry sentence is interrupted by his lips smashing against hers and his hands cupping her face with hunger. Violet drops her trunks and with her empty hands she runs her fingers through his silky, blonde hair. They both fight each other for dominance and she angrily pushes him off of her before slapping him across the face.
"Just leave me alone!" She shouts and picks her things up before using a portkey to travel to Diagon Alley. When she arrives, she goes straight to Gringotts and checks her balance to see if she can buy herself something.
After half an hour of the head goblin explaining how she needs more than just money to buy a home, she takes out a small amount of money. She buys herself a cauldron cake and sits outside of Florean's Ice Cream Shop with her trunks by her side.
She has a pouty face on because of all the bye walkers who are whispering things when they see her. In just a couple of hours, the entire wizarding community knows about her and her families scandal. It's an absolute shit show.
"Hola." A recognizable, raspy voice speaks into Violets ear and it causes Violet to smile and turn around to see Cressida behind her. "You didn't think I'd leave you all alone, did you? Scorpius and Jean are covering for me in Astronomy."
"These cauldron cakes are amazing!" Thomas' voice is on Violets side and she turns and gives him a smile as he's digging into the cake.
"Oh, and I brought back-up." Cressida laughs as she takes a seat next to Violet and takes her cauldron cake. "Draco called us, we heard what happened. We're really sorry."
Thomas hums as he chews his cake and then leans his face towards Violet's. "We are here to offer a place at our humble home." He smiles, and then goes back to eating and speaking with his mouth full. "Our dad already said yes because even Draco called in the favor. Which is actually really weird because Draco doesn't care about anyone."
"Tommy!" Cressida scolds him and knocks his cake out of his hand which makes him gasp with a mouth full of cake. "Remember that talk we had about speaking when you're spoken too and not saying too much? Stick to it!"
Anyone else would be completely annoyed by siblings bickering in their ears, but Violet is finding it comforting that her friends are back with her. She knows that they've changed her but it makes her happy that she has people to finally relate to.
"Thank you." Violet smiles and pats both of their faces, bringing them close to hers. "I will accept your offer, but only till I get back on my feet."
"Well, you better get back on your feet before the annual ball." Thomas chuckles. "It's being hosted at our place this year and you don't want to be there while the preparations are happening. It's chaos."
"Annual ball?" Violet questions with a confused expression.
Both Cressida and Thomas look at each other and then look back at Violet, practically scolding her for not knowing.
"The annual ball for pure-bloods." Cressida responds in a mocking tone. "This years theme is masquerade and every year they auction off a couple of really expensive things."
"That sounds like fun?" Violet laughs and just shakes her head. "It actually does sound like fun and I will definitely try to be on my own by then. Maybe a little after party when we're done."
"That sounds delightful." Cressida chucklesseductively and mockingly. "Now let's go meet my father! This is going to befun!"
