I cautiously look at the clock.

1:50pm

This is either the slowest that time has ever passed, or something is wrong.

I'm getting impatient.

I've sketched pages of choreography. I've run through countless songs in my head. I've imagined scenario upon scenario of an exciting life - a colorful one, with lots of adventure, full of dance performances and music.

But nothing would work if the clock doesn't move.

Without further thought, I glance over at her again. Anything to get me away from the boredom.

She seems to sense my gaze and she meets it.

The eye contact makes my eyes widen at first in surprise... I try to hold it, but then the gaze gets awkward and I shyly look away.

Boredom makes you do crazy things.

That's when the bell rings. I'm so startled I almost jump out of my seat. I glance at the clock.

1:50pm

I'm confused, but other people are packing up. There's no way I'm staying behind when everyone else is leaving, even if the time doesn't add up.

I gather my things.

When I exit the room, no one notices.

Except one.

Her.

A strange emotion flutters inside me when we lock eye contact once more.

I don't know how to reply.

Today, for the first time, I don't want school to end.

I want to stay and interact with him more. I want to spend more time with him and get to know him.

I want to help him feel safe and loved - show him that the world isn't threatening, that he doesn't have to hide or blend in. He doesn't deserve to feel so ashamed of his talent and personality.

I'm determined to prove it.

But time doesn't listen, and the bell rings too soon.

We finally make eye contact again. A smile plays at the corner of my lips.

However, a classmate then decides to walk in front of me to get to the door. When they're finally out of my sight, he's gone as well.

But the fluttering emotion inside me... it never disappears.
