Chapter Fourteen

Chapter Fourteen
Home?
Alice

As Edward parked the car in the driveway, my dead heart sunk in my hollow chest.

"It's going to be alright Alice." Edward spoke encouragingly and I refrained from making a comment I would regret later.

I've hurt him, I know I have. He's always held so much faith in me and now I've taken his trust and destroyed it all in one confusing and un-remembered event. Now I have to face my family, namely my father in particular, and beg for forgiveness. Carlisle will forgive me.

But I don't deserve it.

Yes, this is the first time I've ever slipped and that's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm ashamed that I don't remember what happened. I don't remember who I killed. I was responsible for someone's last few moments of life and I can't even give them the courtesy of remembering them. I took someone's child from their parents and I can't forgive myself for that.

"Alice, are you ready?" Edward asked after he opened my door and held a hand out to me.

"No." I answered, slipping my sunglasses on to my face and making sure my arm was still bandaged correctly. "But I have to face them eventually." I sighed and took his hand.

Edward and I made up after I wrongly accused him of not loving me. I stand by my statements that he's afraid of me, I'm afraid of me, but I realized that he's always been frightened by me. We've always had this strange dynamic and I've always had a certain freak factor from the visions. It's my amnesia that really scares him the most though.

Edward helped me out of the car and walked with me to the front door. After taking a deep breath, he opened the door and we were bombarded instantly by our family.

I recognized each family members arms around me one at a time, I admired Rosalies hair like I normally do every time I see her, but when Carlisles arms held me lovingly, I almost broke down.

"Oh we're so glad you're home and safe." He expressed his relief to me quietly. "I was so worried when Edward called."

"Edward called?" I questioned confusingly, shooting a side glance at my nervous looking husband.

"Of course, when you disappeared he was so concerned. He called me in a panic trying to find you." Carlisle sighed. "When you came back, he called me and told me of your amnesia episode and your shock."

"You already told him?" I turned on Edward and ripped my sunglasses off. "Then why the hell am I wearing these?!" I screamed and threw my glasses at him.

The entire room froze when they saw my eyes.

"Alice." Edward spoke gently and calmly. "I didn't tell him about the blood." He sighed.

I sunk to the floor and put my head into my hands. "I'm so sorry." I sobbed slightly, my voice sounding incredibly sad.

"Alice, it's alright, everything is going to be okay." Carlisle soothed me and tried to pull me to my feet.

He grabbed onto my sore arm however and I couldn't help but cry out in pain as my bandaging tore my wound more

"Alice? Are you alright?" Carlisle asked worriedly and I forced myself to stand as I clutched my arm to my chest.

"Is fine, it's nothing, just a little injury." I shook my head, not wanting him to fix me.

"Let me see, tell me what happened." My father begged me and I remained stubborn.

"Alice got caught by some very large thorns and one of them stabbed her. It's a long gash on her left arm." Edward relayed quickly and a flash of anger shot through me at his betrayal.

"What? That's unheard of!" Carlisle cried, visibly worried and upset. "Alice, please let me see it." He asked me calmly but the panic in his eyes gave him away.

I huffed and took off my trench coat carefully, exposing my wrapped upper arm.

Carlisle took my arm in his hands carefully and turned my arm to expose my wrist. I was shocked to find that the veins in my arm were awful shades of maroon and purple. It looked as if my body was wreaking havoc on itself.

"It's gotten worse." Edward sighed and covered his face with his hands. He looked like he was going to be sick.

"I've never seen anything like this." Carlisle spoke worriedly. "Are you in any pain?" He asked.

"It hurts a little." I shrugged.

He lightly probed my bandaged cut and I couldn't help but scream from the waves of pain he created.

"It hurts a lot." Carlisle corrected me. "I've got to fix this." He sighed and un-bandaged my arm quickly while I whimpered in pain.

The gash was disgusting. It was jagged with venom still oozing from the ugly purple and maroon wound. Carlisle actually stumbled back in surprise and had to take a moment to recollect his thoughts, he was so shocked.

"Okay...I think the only thing that I can do is to flush it with saline and try surgical glue and gauze." Carlisle spoke soundly and pulled me upstairs with him, Edward and Esme following us silently.

After Carlisle had successfully treated and bandaged my wound, he, Edward, Esme, and myself joined the rest of the family in the living room.

"So you really don't remember anything." Jasper sighed.

He wasn't asking, he knew I was telling the truth from my emotions. No one questioned my honesty, they questioned my sanity.

"I wish I did." I sighed.

"It's alright Alice." Esme smiled. "Your eyes will be back to normal in a month or so, just you wait."

"I know they will Esme." I nodded, my voice still void of emotion. "I'm going upstairs to lie down." I announced and quickly climbed the stairs so I could seclude myself in my room.
