We're living where!?
The flight was, to put it lightly, bearable. Of course there was the three and a half hour delay, the godforsaken noise of the passengers not to mention the girls were all squished up against them, the turbulence five times the smell of sweat and, dare I say it, the unescapable stench of released gas, vomit from the babies, nobody dared use the toilet after nicknamed fat bastard went in there, the lights were faulty, the heating system didn't work but the AC did, there was nothing to see out of the window but thick grey clouds and their phones had run out of charge.
THEIR PHONES HAD RUN OUT OF CHARGE!!!
That's why when they finally arrived at Sydney Australia, Shona decided to be very smug as she pulled out a map that had directions of how to get to their hotel. Then of course the rest of the girls decided to be smug themselves when it began raining and the colours in Shona's map faded to mush.
They'd been trudging through the rain for what seemed like hours, the bottoms of their trouser getting drenched, asking people for directions. Unfortunately, most of these people declared that they'd never even heard of the hotel they were trying to find. After a while, Sophie let out a frustrated huff and cried out above the rain.
"I thought it wasn't even supposed to rain in Australia!?"
They girls couldn't answer, rhetorical question or not, they simply stood huddled together, lost, in the middle of Sydney Australia. Just then, a hand tapped Shona's shoulder and they all turned to face who it was.
It was clearly a guy, but the darkness and the rain hid his face, so they had no idea who it could be.
"You wouldn't be looking for 'The Down Under' would'a?" He was local. Of course he was local.
"Umm, yeah, please, do you know where it is or how to get there?" Jess asked bravely.
"Yeah, sure, follow me."
With that, as if he expected them to follow him, he slowly started walking off.
"What do we do?" Sabrina asked cautiously.
"Follow him duh!" Alicia told her.
"But we don't even know him!" Jamie tried to reason.
"But what choice do we have. We have nowhere else to go. And besides, there's only one of him and seven of us." Jess explained.
"But what if there's more where he's taking us?" Sophie piped up.
"That's a risk we're just gonna have to take." Kezza said determinedly.
Shona, Jamie, Sophie and Sabrina sighed in acceptance, following Jess, Kezza and Alicia as they hurried to catch up with the mysterious stranger.
The sky was black by the time they reached the hotel, with only a light drizzle of rain. The girls stood in shock as they gazed up at their temporary new home. Their gazed filled with disgusted disbelief.
There was no welcoming atmosphere, the lights were flickering, mould was creeping up the walls, the paint peeling and revealing brownish coloured stains. Sabrina turned away from the sight feeling slightly sick.
Alicia was the first to speak.
"This isn't a hotel."
"Yeah, it's more of a motel." Kezza added.
"Nah, more like a hostel, but they missed out the S." Jess included.
"Oh god, don't say that! Haven't you seen the film!? That's some scary shit right there!" Shona squealed.
"Hey, watch your language lil' lady!" The man warned light-heartedly.
Still, the girls couldn't see his face. Of course it wasn't raining now, but it was pitch-black. And despite the humility of the hotel, this man had still helped them find it when no-one else could. He then said.
"Well, I'll be off then, gotta get back to the boys."
"Thanks for your help sir." Shona called as he began toddling off.
The man then called over his shoulder, his eye's just catching Shona's.
"Please, sweetheart, call me Michael."
And with that, he was gone around the corner, a flash of blue/blonde hair under the streetlight.
The girls stood stock still in frozen shock.
"Was that?..." Jamie started.
"Nah, can't be." Sophie finished, then turning to Shona. "Could it?"
But Shona was locked in a dreamy state and she mumbled,
"Don't know...don't care."
The rest of them looked on at her in concern before dragging her inside.
Up in their room, the girls laid on four mattresses that had been put together in the middle of the living room floor. Not one of them were tired, although Shona was still advertising space.
"Guys?" Jess started.
"What?" They all chorused, minus Shona.
"This...sucks...bad."
"Yep." They all agreed.
Sophie kicked Shona to get hold of her attention.
"Huh, what!?" She exclaimed.
"What are we gonna do?" Alicia complained.
"Wait for the concert?" Kezza asked.
"But we're here for the next two and a half months!" Jamie protested.
"Well, we're gonna have to do something." Shona finally joined in. "We need money, we need to find our way around, we need a better hotel, we need to find Michael again."
"Shona...that wasn't our Michael." Jess told her.
Sabrina laughed at this.
"Haha, 'our' Michael."
"Well they are our boys...they just don't know it." Jess beamed proudly.
"Seriously though, what are we gonna do?" Sophie asked.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jess noticed her guitar in the corner of the room, dried up and propped safely. She then saw some pots and pans in the kitchen, wooden spoons and other utensils that would make nice sounds. Jamie's phone, now that it was charged, had an installed piano app. And Sophie had thousands of beats and mixes that she had made on her phone as well. She then noticed her songbook on the drawers, her voice wasn't all that bad, if she did say so herself, and she knew that her friends could sing as well.
"Guys?" She repeated the start of the conversation.
"What?" They all repeated.
"We're going busking."
/Just a warning. The next chapter may take me a while cuz I have to write a song. I take my work very seriously you see. So, sys!! =^.^=\
