Sidewalk Steps VS 5 Seconds Of Summer
(I hope you enjoy this one...cuz it took me ages!!)
The girls stared. The boys stared back. The girls stared some more. The boys felt a little creeped out. So Jamie broke the tension...sort of.
"Oh. My. God...YOU'RE 5 SECONDS OF SUM-"
Jess and Kezza both slapped their hands over Jamie's mouth, worried that the situation would only be made worse.
"Yep. That would be us." Michael answered, then gesturing to himself and the boys. "Michael. Ashton. Luke. And Calum. And you are?"
The girls were speechless, but with an elbow to the ribs from Alicia, Jess answered.
"I'm Jess, and that's Alicia, and Sophie, Jamie, Sabrina, Shona and Kezza." She pointed to everyone individually.
"Nice to meet you girls." Calum acknowledged, and Jess could see Kezza visibly slouch in awe. Oh great!
"Yeah, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Luke said, making Jamie and Alicia slouch. You've gotta be kidding me!
"Hey girls. Jess." Ashton winked. Ah...Okay then, I'm with you guys. Jess thought as she slouched when Ashton spoke to her.
With a harsh nudge from Sophie standing next to her she replied.
"Hi guys...Ashton." She mumbled the last part quietly, but Ashton must have heard her and he swooped over to her and put his left arm around her shoulders. (Now you can imagine how Jess must feel at this point-there are no words to describe the feels)
"So, what brings you lot to Australia?" Luke asked.
"Well, we were originally here for Jess' birthday. But that's not until the day of your concert. And then, for a few weeks now, we've been busking to be able to afford this hotel." Kezza answered.
"Wow!" Michael approved.
"Wait," Said Calum. "If you girls are busking. That means you can play, right?"
"Well...we're not too shabby I suppose." Jamie admitted.
"We should totally have a competition!" Ashton exclaimed. Right down Jess' ear, but she didn't mind. (Would you mind?...I didn't think so.)
"What do you mean?" Sabrina asked cautiously.
"I mean, we get a little audience from this hotel, and have a song-off. Two songs each, and the audience decides who wins."
The girls looked around at eachother, nervous but up for the challenge. From around them, other guests of the hotel were nodding in encouragement.
"Okay then." Jess answered. "We accept."
"Alright!! 5 seconds of summer VS...wait, what's your band's name?" Michael asked.
"Umm, we...we don't have one." Shona admittedly, embarrassed.
"Well, there's no VS if you don't have a band name!" Luke exclaimed.
"Well, what should we call ourselves then?" Jess questioned.
"Well, how did we end up here?" Ashton responded.
"What? That's just one of your songs, how's that supposed to help?" Alicia scoffed.
"No, I mean, how did you end up here. Where did all of this band, busking whatnot begin? Where did you first play?"
The girls shared knowing glances and approving, excited nods. Jess' eye's glittered with pride, as did all of the girls, as she told the boys.
"You can call us Sidewalk Steps."
By this time, almost the whole of the hotel had gathered in the common room to witness the competition. The hotel manager had kindly agreed to let them play as loud as they want, eager to hear them play himself.
"Alrighty then. Ladies first." Luke offered, such a gentleman.
The girls stood nervously and proudly on the stage floor and readied their instruments, almost unable to accept the fact they they were in a band competition again the 5sos. Jess took a shuddering breath, gripping her guitar and pic a little harder than usual. But she had a legit reason.
"Okay guys...Winter sun?" She asked.
As they all murmured in agreement, Jess started the song.
Jess: Time is frozen now and we stand still in our places.
The wind is bitter like razors to our faces.
Jamie: And the songs are only halfway finished, all the rest has been diminished.
Shona: Tell me now how we survive when we are trapped inside the night?
Everyone: Oh, oh, oh now it's time to run.
Oh, oh, oh towards the winter sun.
For fractured branches, are blocking the light,
And we have no time, the days' out of sight...
But it's no use anymore...
Not even the sun can keep us warm.
Alicia: Over seas, cross-countries and our home towns.
No light, just dark, and everything's over now.
Sophie: And we band together like a wolf pack, once was lost, but now we have our own backs.
Kezza: Tell me now how we unite when all of our lost light, hasn't been returned since the starting of the first fight.
Sabrina: People throwing sticks and monsters throwing stones but now their spirits fading as the cold freezes their bones.
Jess: But we still scream,
Everyone: Oh, oh, oh now it's time to run.
Oh, oh, oh towards the winter sun.
For fractured branches are blocking the light,
And we have no time, the days' out of sight...
But it's no use anymore...
Not even the sun can keep us warm.
Jess: Frost is coating all our bodies!
Ice replaces blood!
Jamie: We once danced and sung in dawnlight!
If only we could!
Shona: Streets are paved with ghosts and darkness!
But we still hold hope!
Alicia: Time will tell if we have saviours!
Bring our hope of gold!
Sophie: We're still waiting for redemption!
But is it even real!?
Kezza: Run and hide from resurrection!
We will never kneel!
Sabrina: And can the sun keep us warm?
Can it rise in the dawn?
But it stays dark, forlorn!
Not even the sun can keep us,
Everyone: Sun can keep us,
Sun can keep us,
Sun can keep us,
Sun can keep us,
Sun can keep us...
Jess: Warm...
Everyone: Oh, oh, oh now it's time to run.
Oh, oh, oh towards the winter sun.
For fractured branches, are blocking the light.
And we have no time, the days' out of sight...
But it's no use anymore...
Not even the sun can keep us
Oh, oh, oh now it's time to run.
Oh, oh, oh towards the winter sun.
For fractured branches, are blocking the light.
And we have no time, the days' out of sight...
But it's no use anymore...
Not even the sun can keep us warm.
Jess: Now we run...towards the winter sun.
Cheers erupted almost instantly as they finished up. The boys' eye's wide with awe and respect.
As the cheering quietened down, Jess spoke out.
"Don't worry folks, next song won't be as depressing." She promised as more cheers sounded up again.
"Well, well, well, looks like we've got some competition!" Calum acknowledged.
"Well then, let's put our game faces on boys!" Ashton exclaimed, starting towards the stage as the girls clambered down, the boys following close behind.
"Alright!" Luke shouted. "This is Greenlight!"
"1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4!" Michael counted in.
It started with a picture,
Those messages you sent to me.
You're like the perfect mixture,
Of Megan Fox and Katy P
It's such a sick obsession,
And now you've got the best of me.
I've got the worst intentions,
So call me over and set me free.
I can give you what you want...
It's taking me over!
I don't wanna play this game anymore.
All you gotta do is tell me right now,
You want me right now, come on,
Give me the Greenlight,
We could have all night.
If you just say the word.
Tell me it's alright,
Give me the Greenlight.
You got me where you want me,
I'm hanging on your every word.
It's such a twisted story.
How you got me.
Now you got me!
So let me give you what you need...
It's taking me over!
I don't wanna play this game anymore.
All you gotta do is tell me right now,
You want me right now, come on,
Give me the Greenlight,
We could have all night.
If you just say the word.
Tell me it's alright,
Give me the Greenlight.
So let me give you what you need...
It's taking me over...
I don't wanna play this game anymore...
All you gotta do is tell me right now,
You want me right now, come on,
Give me the Greenlight,
We could have all night.
If you just say the word.
Tell me it's alright,
Give me the Greenlight.
And so forth came the cheering. But it was a nice sound. First they cheered for Sidewalk Steps. Now they were cheering for Sidewalk Steps' favourite band.
"Touché 5sos." Shona said. "You play well, and put up quite the fight. But, now we bring our A-game."
The two bands swapped places and Sidewalk steps readied their instruments once again, more confident now and eager to play a certain song.
Jess looked over the crowd.
"Does 'Too loud for words' sound good to you guys?"
With the crowds repetitive cheering for an answer, they started.
Jess: Saturday night are we up for it?
Sunday's gonna feel like hell.
Jamie: Make sure the bathroom door is open.
Cuz we ain't gonna feel so well.
Sophie: Turn up the music, get a glass out.
Pick your poison, I've got all
Alicia: Don't give a f**k about the neighbours.
Tonight the fuzz are not on call.
Sabrina: Cuz everyone is coming over to mine.
We are gonna party til the broad daylight.
Shona: Turn up the stereo cuz it ain't loud enough.
Turn the volume meter til the b***h breaks off.
Kezza: Tonight, we're gonna be too loud for words. So we sing,
Everyone: Sing it from the rooftops, dancing in the rain.
Scream it til your heart stops, forget about the pain.
Shout it from the skylines, impact has no refrain.
Let the world know that we're too loud for words!
Sing it from your heart now, to the rhythm of the beat.
Scream it from your gold soul, as you dance down the street.
Shout it til your mind blows, no need to be discreet as we all shout now,
That we're too loud for words!
Jess: Mum's out. Dad's out. Tonight we own it.
The doors and windows won't be locked.
Jamie: Real ID's. Fake ID's. Don't matter.
We're not gonna hear you knock.
Sophie: Get another glass maybe ten more.
I've got more where that came from.
Alicia: 5sos, Green Day, Imagine Dragons.
The last goodnight, Queen, so much more.
Sabrina: Cuz more people are still coming to mine.
The day just doesn't seem in our sight.
Shona: Head's numb, throat's sore, but we're alright.
We're gonna pull on through the night.
Kezza: Tonight, we tell the world, let them know, and we don't let them forget that we are too loud for words.
So we go,
Everyone: Sing it from the rooftops, dancing in the rain.
Scream it til your heart stops, forget about the pain.
Shout it from the skylines, impact has no refrain.
Let the world know that we're too loud for words
Sing it from your heart now, to the rhythm of the beat.
Scream it from your gold soul, as you dance down the street.
Shout it til your mind blows, no need to be discreet as we all shout now,
That we're too loud for words.
Jamie + Kezza: Sing it, sing it, let the world hear it.
Sophie + Shona: Scream it, scream it, let the world know it.
Alicia + Sabrina: Shout it, shout it, make the world believe it.
Jess: Too loud, too loud, for words when we sing it...
Everyone: Sing it from the rooftops, dancing in the rain.
Scream it til your heart stops, forget about the pain.
Shout it from the skylines, impact has no refrain.
Let the world know that we're too loud for words.
Sing it from your heart now, to the rhythm of the beat.
Scream it from your gold soul, as you dance down the street.
Shout it til your mind blows, no need to be discreet as we all shout now,
That we're too loud for words!
That we're too loud for words!
That we're too loud for words!
And once again the crowd cheered some more, louder than the last time however. And the girls stood proudly as they finished up, sending the boys a challenging glare. To which the boys replied with nudging them off the stage again and taking their own stands. Gradually the cheering died down again, that's when Ashton called.
"No, no, no, please, please...don't stop."
Michael screamed, "1, 2, 3, 4!"
You're like perfection.
Some kind of holiday.
You got me thinking.
That we could run away.
You want, I'll take you there.
You tell me when and where.
Oh, oh oh oh.
But then I asked for your number.
Said you don't have a phone.
It's getting late now.
I gotta let you know.
That everybody wants to take you home tonight.
But I'm gonna find way to make you mine.
Don't stop!
Doing what you're doing!
Everytime you move to the beat, it gets harder for me and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
Don't stop!
Cuz you know that I like it!
Everytime you walk in the room, you got all eye's on you and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
You're coming close now.
Swear I can taste it.
You got me tongue-tied.
I can't escape it.
I'm loving what you got.
But then you push me off.
Oh, oh oh oh.
And everybody wants to take you home tonight.
But I'm gonna find a way to make you mine.
Don't stop!
Doing what you're doing!
Everytime you move to the beat, it gets harder for me and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
Don't stop!
Cuz you know that I like it!
Everytime you walk in the room, you got all eye's on you and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
Everyday it's the same, love and games that you play!
Back and forth, round and round, kinda like it this wayeayeay.
Don't stop...
Doing what you're doing...
Everytime you walk in the room, you got all eye's on you and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
Don't stop!
Doing what you're doing!
Everytime you move to the beat, it gets harder for me and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!
Don't stop!
Cuz you know that I like it!
Everytime you walk in the room, you got all eye's on you and you,
Know it! Know it! Know it!!
Can you guess what happened next? Cuz I'm sick of repeating it. Basically both the boys and the girls went deaf for a brief moment. Surrounded by screaming, whooping, whistling, clapping and, oh to heck with it, even more cheering.
The boys clambered down off the stage and went up to the girls, who whole heartedly complimented them. To which the boys sarcastically lifted their noses in the air like posh snobs. That made the girls laugh and Alicia pat everyone hard on the backs. But when she pushed Jess, Jess fell into Ashton who caught her by the shoulders. They both giggled nervously and Jess blushed as the rest of them started making kiss noises. To which Ashton replied with by pecking Jess on the top of the head (as she was a time least a foot smaller then him) as a friendly gesture and defiance to his friends.
"Sooooo," Shona drawled, noticing Jess and Ashton and then eyeing Michael who gulped nervously. "Who won?"
And this is where you guys come in again. Yep, I'm just that fun. So, the decision lies with you. Comment on who you think should win, and that's who'll actually win in the next chapter. Also, you better have appreciated this chapter. Do you actually know how hard it is to write a song? Sure you can make up sentences that rhyme but that's not a song. Not really. A real song is where you spend ages thinking about the lyrics, if and how they relate to you, if and how they relate to other people. You have to connect with the words there has to be a story behind the lyrics. Otherwise it's just a freaking nursery rhyme. And while we're on that subject. What the Fluke is up with 'rock a bye baby'!? Who, unless you were mentally unstable, would write a poem, to sing to a child, about them falling from a tree and most likely hurting themselves greatly if they didn't die first!? Seriously, there's some twisted people in this world. But anyway, enough of my ranting, off you go, comment and determine the fate of the next chapter.
