"Why did we agree to this?" Sabrina asked indignantly.

"Because I said you did." Jess answered.

The rest of the girls simply sniggered as they followed Jess through the town of Sydney. Dragging their instruments along with them.

Jess had her guitar and songbook, although she knew the lyrics to all of her songs by heart.
Kezza had some bongo drums that she found in the store cupboard. I know, random right?
Shona and Sabrina had pots and pans, wooden spoons to hit them with.
Alicia had made some sort of contraption involving elastic bands to tweak, very creative!
Then of course Jamie and Sophie had their phones tucked safely in their pockets. The piano and the mixers up and ready.
This is going to be great...isn't it?

Arriving at some sidewalk steps, the group took up positions. Jess on the second lowest step, Shona and Sabrina on either side on the grass. Sophie and Jamie sat higher than Jess with their phones at hand, and finally Kezza and Alicia at the highest point.

Already a small selection of individuals had slowed down or stopped completely in eagerness to listen.

Jess knew it was now or never. Maybe she would never be famous for it. Maybe she and her friends would never become a band. But if she didn't do this now, then she won't never have accomplished even a percentage of her dream. She and her friends had been practising a certain song for the past two days, and they had nailed it. Every note, every lyric. Jess looked around at them all, determination burning in their eyes. They were ready. They could do this. But it had to start now...or never.

"Umm...hi everyone." Jess started. "So, we've only got one song for you today, but...we're new to this so...hopefully it goes well. Erm...this song is called 'If at any time' and...we hope you enjoy it." With that, Sophie played her mix, and with everyone playing their instruments to the beat, they sang.

That was it. That was it? They'd done it? They'd done it! And Jess' guitar case was stacked with coins and notes, a ton of people crowding round them. But the money wasn't what mattered, what mattered was that they were one step closer to Jess' dream. But first...they were one step closer to a nicer hotel.
