07. {scott's death}
─── ∙ ~εïз~ ∙ ───
liam, scott, stiles, moonee and kira were gathered in the mccall's dining room. there were three laptops placed on the table as they discussed the plan.
"is three enough?" kira spoke as she looked at the electronics on the wooden table.
"depends on how many cameras they have." stiles explained, "but i think so."
"are we really doing this?" liam asked, he clearly wasn't a fan of the plan.
"we're doing it- tonight." scott declared.
"but isn't it kind of dangerous...?" liam added.
"when has something we've done not been dangerous?" moonee investigated. she had been the only one sitting down out of the five, due to her extreme fatigue.
"exactly, it's incredibly dangerous and borderline idiotic." stiles agreed with her.
"have you guys done something like this before?"
"something dangerous?" stiles questioned, "or something idiotic?"
"i think it's a "yes" to both..." kira trailed off.
"you don't have to be part of it if you don't want to." scott reminded liam.
"i'm not scared!" the young boy protested.
moonee laughed to herself, "you're so scared."
"i'm not."
"then you're borderline idiotic." stiles finalised while sending liam a wink, "if we do this, we don't know what's coming for us. you know that, right?"
"how do we know something's definitely coming?" kira inquired.
"because the tape from garrett's bag said 'visual confirmation required'." scott explained.
"didn't the chemistry man say the same?" moonee pointed out, her eyes on stiles.
the brunette nodded, "he did, he couldn't get paid by the benefactor until he had proof that you guys were dead."
"so, the idea is... what if you kill someone on the deadpool, but you can't send the proof?" scott elaborated.
"you don't get paid."
"but how does that get us any closer to the benefactor?" liam queried, making moonee roll her eyes.
"he still needs to know if the target is really dead."
"especially if it's someone high on the list." stiles emphasised.
"so, if he wants visual confirmation..." liam started.
"he's going to have to come himself." scott concluded.
"scott, can we?" moonee questioned, a familiar look in her eyes that said she wanted to talk to him.
scott nodded and the two mccalls walked over to the other side of the room, "everything okay?"
"i just wanted to say..." moonee started off, but she was unable to continue.
"hey, it's alright." scott reassured her, "i understand."
"no, no. i need to say it." moonee shook her head before taking a deep breath, "um, if you don't die... we can get some chilli cheese fries."
"are you paying?" scottt teased with a comforting smile. he knew moonee struggled to tap into her emotional side, so her offer was the closest thing he was going to get to a 'please, be safe'.
she scoffed, "no."
"deal." he nodded before enveloping her into a famous scott mccall hug, "everything will be fine, i promise."
"okay."

"are you guys totally sure about this?" liam repeated.
kira, scott, liam and moonee were now at the yukimura's house, joined by kira's mum. scott was laid out on the bed, waiting for the procedure to begin.
"i think liam's kind of nervous." kira told scott, "maybe you should tell him it's going to be all right."
"it's going to be all right." scott reassured him.
liam still seemed unsure. his glance averted to moonee who gave him a confused look. she then realised what he wanted and groaned.
"liam, it is going to be all right." she echoed.
"okay." he nodded before turning to kira's mom, "so, you've done this before, right?"
"i've seen it done." noshiko yukimura admitted.
"i-is that just as good?" liam quizzed, nervously.
"no."
"mom, you're not inspiring confidence." kira complained.
"good!" noshiko snapped, "this is a terrible idea."
"at least she's being honest." moonee shrugged from beside the pacing liam.
"do you want us to do it without you?" kira challenged.
noshiko stayed silent for a second before breathing out, "put your hand over his heart."
kira nodded and reached over to place her palm on the werewolf's exposed chest, but he quickly stopped her.
"hold on-" scott said, "what happens while i'm out? am i gonna feel anything?"
"it might feel like you're dreaming." noshiko described.
"good dreams, or bad?"
"i suppose that's up to you."
"i advise you think about bunnies and rainbows." moonee suggested, "you know, your usual thoughts."
scott couldn't help but grin, "thanks, moon."
"yeah." moonee nodded, her face falling as kira's hand neared him.
liam glanced at her and could tell she was secretly uneasy. he decided to take a risk and take her hand into his for comfort. he was surprised when the girl stayed in her place, with no dirty look or rude remark, just stillness.
kira placed her hand on his chest and began to use her foxfire to severely slow down scott's heart rate. when the mccall boy began violently gasping, liam felt moonee squeeze his hand, harshly.

it was nine in the evening and moonee was in the hospital waiting room. she had told some of her mother's co-workers that she came to drop off dinner for her mum. when truly she was there as a part of the plan.
with her head in a magazine, moonee waited for her signal. she peeked over to see liam's stepdad, dr geyer talking to her mum. as the man spoke, he looked over to moonee and she quickly got to her feet.
"no! no!" melissa mccall yelled out.
moonee threw the magazine to the ground and sprinted over to melissa who was crumbling in dr geyer's arms. she wasn't the only one who had heard the yell, other doctors and nurses moved over to see what was happening.
"what's the problem?" moonee questioned.
"what happened to my son?" melissa screamed into the man's arms before falling to the floor.
"scott? dr geyer..." moonee's voice trembled.
"i'm so sorry, moonee." dr geyer spoke.
"no..." moonee shook her head as her mother wailed on the ground, "no!"
"it-it happened so fast."
faux tears began to spill out of moonee's eyes as she sobbed uncontrollably. her sobs quickly turned into outcries which horrified dr geyer and everyone else around them.

after their little act, the mccall women entered the morgue. melissa had her arm around moonee as the two wiped their teary faces.
"i still hate this plan. i mean, this is pretty significantly terrifying- he looks dead." melissa sighed as she joined the group. however, moonee stood to the side.
while melissa talked to noshiko, stiles and kira, liam went to speak to the younger girl.
"i could hear your screaming from in here, sounded so real." liam started.
"well, i was given an opportunity to scream as loud as i could, so i did." moonee shrugged.
"right." liam nodded, he always struggled to converse with her as she never seemed interested, "are you okay?"
"yes, why wouldn't i be?"
"i can, uh, smell the anxiety on you." liam admitted.
"dunbar, take that nose and stick it into someone else's buisness." moonee snapped. she scowled at him and moved back to the group.
liam stood in disbelief, he was trying to be kind to her but she just didn't like him. however, he was right, moonee was terrified of the whole plan - she hated it. but she would rather die than let liam dunbar tell her how she feels.
"how much time do we have?" melissa asked.
moonee stood by her side and cuddled up to her arm.
"forty-five minutes." noshiko explained.
"what happens after that?"
"i bring him back the same way." kira spoke up.
"no, i mean, what happens if he stays like this longer than forty-five minutes?"
they all looked at each other, nervously.
"no one's told her?" noshiko asked, exasperatedly.
"what?" melissa began to panic, "what happens after forty-five minutes?"
"mom..." moonee looked up at her with pained eyes, "he dies. scott dies."

"how exaxtly are we going to get a private hospital room?" liam asked.
him, kira and stiles each had a laptop in their hands while moonee was carrying a bunch of chargers.
"that's where moonee and her acting skills come in." stiles explained, "we have to hurry, argent is already on his way to the roof."
"got it." moonee nodded, "just follow me and look sad."
the three had their heads down in sorrow as they followed moonee. they stopped in front of a familiar door and as moonee reached to open it, a voice stopped her.
"excuse me?"
moonee glanced up, tears already falling from her eyes.
"what are you kids doing here?" the doctor asked as she came nearer to them.
the elementum sniffled and dramatically wiped a tear from her face.
"is everything okay?"
"dr... jones?" moonee read her name tag, "my name is moonee-"
"mccall?" the lady cut her off, "as in dr mccall and scott."
moonee nodded, "i just wanted to sit in silence in this room. my mum already said-"
"no, no." the doctor shook her head, "you don't need to explain. i'm so sorry for your loss."
"thank you." moonee sighed, "is it alright if we... mourn in this room?"
"yeah." dr jones agreed, "go ahead, go, go."
moonee didn't hesitate to unlock the room door and usher the three inside.
"again, i'm so-" the doctor started again.
"thank you, means a lot." moonee quickly cut her off before slamming the door shut, "get it set up, come on."
"woah." liam gushed.
"moonee, that was wonderful." kira beamed as they set up the laptops.
"yeah, she's taken... zero hours of acting classes." stiles joked, "she's just dramatic."
"am not. it's hard having no emotions." moonee glared at him, "so, i guess i'm just good at acting like i do."
"right."
"no emotions?" liam quizzed.
"dunbar, we clearly don't have the time to chat." moonee huffed.
no one spoke as they rushed around the room to plug in and set up the three laptops. once they were done, they stood in front of them and waited for argent to call.
stiles' phone rang and he was quick to pick it up.
"i'm here." argent's voice spoke through the mobile, "you ready?"
"yeah."
"try it now."
stiles leaned forward and pressed a button on the laptop, suddenly, all three turned on and they could see through all the hospital cameras.
⎯ ❃ neens speaks!
so many things going on in this chapter!!
i feel so bad making liam upset over moonee's harshness, but trust me, she has a valid reason
