Chapter Two-Side Effects
I sigh loudly and stretch my arms and legs out in the bed. Then I smile and put my hands on my stomach. 'Morning, baby' I think and open my eyes to meet the morning light. I blink a few times trying to wake up my eyes, while I do so I hear Stephen's voice over my shoulder.
"So I was thinking if it's a boy, we'll name him Jacob. Oh, or Clark! Name our son after Superman. Then if it's a girl we could name her Haley. Or Amelia." A big smile takes over my face as he comes up with names. "Or maybe," I feel him lean over and then I feel his breath on my neck. "We could name her Abigail, after her mom." He whispers then kisses right below my ear. I shiver slightly and then prop myself up to turn around. Suddenly nausea runs through me. I quickly get up, dragging half of the bedding with me, and sprint straight into the bathroom. I slam the door behind me and empty the contents of my stomach into the toilet.
I do my best to pile my hair in my right hand while my left grips the toilet. I puke again and then hear a soft knock at the door. "Abigail? Baby?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine." I croak out. "Morning sickness." I fit in a few breaths before once again expunging various things from my stomach into our porcelain throne. Sounds better if I say it that way.
"Well, can I come in?" I shake my head and a few hairs slip out of my grasp and fall across my forehead.
"I really don't think you want to." I hear a slight chuckle through the door.
"Baby, if I couldn't handle throw up I wouldn't want to be a dad. Now I'm coming in, okay?" I moan in response and I hear the door creak open. After a moment his hands replace mine and hold my hair out of my face. I sigh softly.
"Thank you." I breathe and then spit in the toilet. "I think I'm done." I grab toilet paper and wipe my mouth. Then I stand on shaky legs. Stephen's hands are on my arms the whole time, making sure I don't fall. He guides me to the sink so I can lean on it then shuts the lid to the toilet and flushes. "I'm going to brush my teeth. Would you make some coffee please?"
"Of course." He says and I feel him run his hand down my back before heading out of the bathroom and to the kitchen. After I brush my teeth and swish some Listerine in my mouth I'm ready to go. I put my hands on my stomach and whisper, "Already a trouble maker?" I sigh and smile a little. I step out of the bathroom and head towards the smell of fresh coffee.
I go into the kitchen and sit at the counter. After a few seconds a warm mug of coffee is set in front of me. I wrap my hands around it to absorb the warmth. Stephen leans on the counter across from me with a coffee cup of his own. "Well side effect number one has passed. For now anyway." I look up and find him smiling.
"Glad you took it so well." I tease him and give him a smile of my own. He smirks while I take a sip of my coffee.
"I thought you were rather graceful as well." I spit up part of my coffee in laughter.
"Graceful?" I scoff. "Please." He nods.
"Oh, yes. The way your back would arch right before your beautiful lips parted and made a fountain of vomit into a pure white bowl. Beautiful." By the end of his small speech I'm almost in tears laughing at him.
"Well, thanks baby. I'm so flattered." I manage to splutter out between guffaws. He watches me as he takes a sip of his coffee.
"Kind of reminded me of another time you've arched your back..." My laughter stops and I give him a warning glance. His eyes twinkle with dark humor and I shake my head. "But then, the only thing coming out of your mouth was my name..."
"Stephen..." I look down, close my eyes, and blush. He laughs and comes over next to me. He then kisses my head, my forehead, my nose, and then my lips. In that order. His lips are gentle and hold lots of love. His kisses make my embarrassment slip away. Knowing that he knows all of me, and accepts me, really defeats the purpose of feeling embarrassed.
After his last kiss I sigh in contentment. The next time I open my eyes his head is at my stomach, a smile stretched across his face.
"Hey, Baby. How are you today?" A low gurgling sounds emits from my stomach. Stephen looks startled and I giggle.
"Hungry, apparently." I hop off the stool I'm sitting on and head to the fridge. "We still have that spicy sausage, babe?" Stephen stands and heads over to where I am.
"Yes..." He answers then pauses. I raise my eyebrows questioningly. "But you don't like it. Remember? I got you to try it once and you said it felt like you were eating a rotted pig tongue. Still don't quite know what that means, but I figured it meant you didn't like it." I stared into the fridge at the sausage.
"Well, maybe my taste buds have changed." I grab the package and gave it to Stephen behind me. "You cook those, I cook pancakes?" At the mention of pancakes his face is cleared of all emotion but one; determination. He loves pancakes. He grabs the sausage from me and bustles around the kitchen, getting his supplies. I get all the stuff put I need as well, along with a big spoon of peanut butter. As I make the pancakes I slowly eat the peanut butter off the spoon. Mmm, delicious. I put all the pancakes on a plate then take them to the table. Then I grab plates for us, napkins, syrup, forks, and the peanut butter I had been eating and take it all back to the table.
A second after, Stephen comes over with the plate of sausage. I smile at him and he kisses my cheek before sitting down across from me. I quickly fill my plate with pancakes then slather them with peanut butter. Then I put sausage on my plate and cover it all in syrup. I grab my fork and lick my lips.
"I am so excited for this." I can't help but say. Stephen laughs and I look up at him. He nods at me then gestures to my plate.
"I think I like this side effect." I shake my head and roll my eyes at him. Then I dig in. I've finished four pancakes and two sausages by the time Stephen has eaten two pancakes. After I finish I sit back and sigh, rubbing my stomach with a happy smile on my face.
"Baby likes breakfast food." I pat my stomach. Stephen laughs.
"Speaking of baby. Let's talk baby names."
A/N
SO LETS TALK BABY NAMES! No idea what the name should be so please throw ideas at me. :)
Okay, so I put a lot of little references to Stephen and Abigail's physical (wink wink) relationship in this because I think it's important. In case y'all didn't know...CHRISTIAN'S HAVE SEX. People act so sensitive about it. It's all good. It happens. How do you think babies happen? So, I just really want to address that. The physical aspect of the relationship is just as important as the emotional and we shouldn't be shy about talking about it. God created it, it's beautiful. The end. :)
Love y'all!!! Please vote and comment!!!
