Chapter 44 - Bonus No.4

Warnings: You will cry.
I've never written a Newsie's wedding before and I haven't been to a wedding in four years, I hope you all like it lol. *long chapter*
Third Person POV

"I might cry." Jack mumbles, fanning his face with his hand.

"Davey's already crying," Sarah laughs a bit, gesturing to her crying brother.

Davey was crying too much into Mike's shoulder to notice.

Mike just awkwardly patted his shoulder until Crutchie came to help.

"Jacky," Race starts, looking to be panicking. "Is this a horrible idea? Does he even like me?" Race turns to face Jack, pointing at him. "Did you pay Spot to marry me?"

Jack chuckles, giving his brother a hug. "No. I'd never do that. Spot is going to marry you because he wants to. Do you want me to go get him to have him tell you that?"

"Are you crazy?!" Katherine and Sarah shout in unison. "Spot can't see Race until they're at the alter, you idiot!"

Jack puts his hands up in a surrendering motion. "Sorry, sorry."

Katherine scoffs, turning back to Race.

"If you do anything, go get Al, Jo, and the twins," Sarah tells Jack, shooing him off.

"Which twins?" Jack whispers, eyebrows furrowed.

"The Higgins twins, you idiot!" Katherine and Sarah shout, again in unison.

Jack nods, leaving the room.

"God," Sarah mumbles, obviously annoyed.

"Past Manhattan leaders, am I right?" Race whispers, cracking a small, cheeky smile.

The two girls look up at him and laugh, causing him to laugh a bit as well.

A few minutes later, Albert, JoJo, and the Higgins twins came into the room.

"Aww, Race!" JoJo exclaims, running over to give him a hug. "You look great!"

(A/N, no, I'm not choosing what they're wearing. It's up to your imaginations, you choose.)

JoJo hugs Race, who hugs back.

"It's crazy remembering you from when you were seven to now." Carson states. "You're nineteen now, Race."

"I know," Race smiles.

"And we couldn't be prouder of you if we tried to be." Caleb responds, pulling his two siblings into a hug.

They pulled away, and Albert stood staring at Race.

"Nothing to say, DaSilva?" Race questions with a small smirk.

"Nothing to say, DaSilva?" Eleven year old Race questions, standing his a hand on his hip and his other holding his cigar. "You shocked that I can play Poker?"

Albert smiles. "Maybe I don't have anything to say this time."

Twelve year old Albert growls a bit. "Maybe I was trying to think of a snarky remark?"

"Do you even know what 'snarky' means?" Race questions.

Albert shrugs. "I've heard Specs use it. I think it means sarcastic."

"You'd know all about that, wouldn't you?" Race responds, rolling his eyes.

Albert rolls his eyes back.

"Remember what I said to you guys after that?" Jack questions, turning to face Specs and Finch.

Specs smiles.

Finch nods. "'They're going to be best friends when they grow up, aren't they?'"

"And Specs responded with," Jack continues.

"'You're going to hate them being together so much sometimes, and they'll drag JoJo into stupid situations, but you're still going to love them and that they're friends and that they have each other.'" Specs recites, smirking a tiny bit.

Jack smiles.

Race turns back to Albert, seeing tears form in his eyes.

He wraps his arms around the older boy. "Aww, Al. Don't cry, you're going to make me cry."

Albert chuckles weakly. "It's crazy that I remember meeting you yesterday and now you're getting married, to the King of Brooklyn out of anyone."

Race smiles. "It's interesting alright."

Time skip

Spot stood on the stage at Medda's theater, where the wedding was being held.

Ace, being his second in command and best mate, had his hand on Spot's shoulder since Spot was a bit anxious.

Hannah, who Medda was dating, was the one doing the ceremony (she was the best choice).

Katherine convinced her father to let her borrow a camera, though he didn't know why, so Sarah was taking pictures.

Race's mate of honor was Albert, with JoJo, Crutchie, Elmer, Romeo, Buttons, and Carson being other mates.

Spot's other groomsmen were Smokes, Hotshot, Red, Finch, Specs, and Caleb.

Jack was walking Race down the aisle (stage), and they gave him and Davey the rolls of 'Mother and Father of the Bride'.

I bet you can guess who's who.

Davey was also the one running around making sure everything was okay, so he was stressed.

And crying.

Davey was full on crying.

Les, Lucky, and Tumbler were carrying the rings.

Ben and Sky (both now 10) were the flower girls/boy. They were very excited about this.

Blink and Mush were walking with them, with flower crowns on their heads since Race insisted they be 'flower kid watchers'.

He said, 'it's good practice for when you two have kids' and skipped off, leaving the two boys blushing a lot.

Spot was pulled out of his thoughts as Jack and Race walked into the room.

Spot gaped at him, causing some of the boys to laugh. "Oh my God, I'm marrying him."

Ace pats his shoulder. "Yes, you are."

"Can I kiss him now?" Spot asks Hannah, causing some people to laugh again and Race to turn bright red.

Hannah chuckles. "Not yet."

Spot pouts.

Jackie (now 12) walked behind Race and Jack, throwing flower petals at them.

Jack kissed Race's forehead, before Race walked up and stood next to Spot, and technically Albert was behind him.

Race looked Spot in the eyes, and Spot swore that his heart almost stopped.

He looked beautiful.

Keep it cool, Spot. Spot mentally scolded himself, you're getting married, and to the most wonderful being on Earth.

Hannah started speaking, and as she did, Race heard Romeo literally sobbing with a tissue wiping the tears away.

He heard Medda crying a little bit, and Davey.

He saw Jack smiling warmly at him, while comforting his sobbing husband, and when he started getting anxious, Albert grabbed and squeezed his hand to help him.

"Now, Spot, repeat after me," Hannah starts. "I, Sean Conlon,"

"I, Sean Conlon,"

"Will take thee, Antonio Higgins,"

Carson started crying with Romeo.

"Will take thee, Antonio Higgins,"

"To be my wedded husband,"

"To be my wedded husband,"

"To have and to hold from this day forward,"

"To have and to hold from this day forward,"

"For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,"

"For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,"

"In sickness and in health,"

"In sickness and in health,"

"To love and to cherish,"

"To love and to cherish,"

"Till death do us part,"

"Till death do us part,"

"According to God's holy ordinance;"

"According to God's holy ordinance;"

"And thereto I pledge thee my faith."

And thereto I pledge thee my faith."

Hannah turns to Race, who inhales slowly to calm himself.

"Now, Race, repeat after me," Hannah starts. "I, Antonio Higgins,"

"I, Antonio Higgins,"

"Will take thee, Sean Conlon,"

"Will take thee, Sean Conlon,"

"To be my wedded husband,"

"To be my wedded husband,"

"According to God's holy ordinance;"

"According to God's holy ordinance;"

And thereto I pledge thee my faith."

Hannah makes a motion for Lee, Lucky, and Tumbler to bring the rings up.

Tumbler pats Spot on the shoulder, whispering. "You're getting married, don't screw this up."

Spot rolls his eyes, playfully shoving the teenager.

Tumbler laughs, leaving with Les and Lucky.

Race laughs a bit.

Race places the ring on Spot's finger with the nod from Hannah.

Then, Spot does the same with Race.

"I now pronounce you Husband and Husband!" Hannah announces, causing some laughs to erupt. "You may now kiss the Groom?"

Spot grabs Race, cupping his face, and pulling him in for a kiss.

The Newsies cheer.

They pull away, both of them bright red.

Spot grabs Race's hand, walking him down to the doors, staying there, before walking back up since the reception was there as well.

Some of the Newsies laughed at that.

Time skip

"You're married now." Albert whispers, as he hugs Race.

"Yeah," Race fiddles with the ring on his finger. "It's crazy."

"You've had that on for literally twenty minutes and you're already fidgeting with it," Blink points out, chuckling a bit.

"I'm just a little overwhelmed," Race states. "And Davey won't let me fidget with my cigar."

"Why is why we have a post-wedding gift." Albert states.

Ike pulls out a box, opening it.

"Guys," Race grins. "Thank you." He takes the cigar out of the box. (It was a corona.)

After a few minutes of them talking, Crutchie came over to the group (that consisted of Race, Albert, Blink, Ike, JoJo, and Tommy boy).

He hugged Race first, before joining their conversation.

After a few more minutes, he noticed the cigar. "You know, Davey is not going to be happy if he sees that."

"When is he ever happy with us?" Race questions, earning chuckles from the boys. "Anyway, it's not like I smoke cigars."

"I don't think he knows why you have them though," JoJo points out.

"He has anxiety," Race shrugs. "He could easily figure it out if he tried."

The boys chuckle again.

Time skip

Spot stood talking to Ace, Smokes, and Red, when two familiar Bronx Newsies came over to him.

"Congrats bro, you're married now." Smalls shakes Spot's hand.

"Yeah," Spot sighs dreamily. "To the most wonderful person on Earth." Spot looks over at Race who was getting scolded by Davey.

He laughs a bit.

"He's whipped" Smalls chuckles.

Ace chuckles. "He has been."

Spot rolls his eyes, shoving Ace over the head (but not hard enough to hurt him).

"Where'd Hotshot go?" Red questions, looking around a bit.

"He's probably with Ike." Sniper answers. "I've noticed that Ike isn't in his usual spot by his twin's side."

The group chuckles, taking sips of their drinks.

"What do you think they're doing?" Smokes questions, a bit curious.

"Let's not ask that question." Ace shoots his boyfriend a warm smile.

Smokes looked confused, but let it go.

Time skip

Spot and Race sat at the table together.

Speeches were happening, and Ace was up first.

Katherine had helped the boys with their speeches.

"One request," Spot starts, drawing circles on the back on Race's hand. "If you could not embarrass me, that'd be great."

Ace smirks.

"Too late," Katherine mumbles, turning to face her girlfriend.

The group laughs, and Spot rolls his eyes.

"Spot," Ace starts, stopping for five seconds. "Dude, I love you very much, but you were whipped for Race, like my gosh, when you finally told me, you'd talk about him everyday."

Race looks at Spot, who was already bright red.

"Does anyone else know that Race once wore a dress when selling?" Ace questions. The group laughs. "Spot thought it was cute."

Race and Spot were both bright red at this point.

"Ace, I will kill you or embarrass you at your wedding." Spot threatens.

Ace just smirks.

"He was so far gone that he'd hide behind a building or something when Race walked by him. He once accidentally fell off of his perch because he was trying to hide from Race." The group laughs again. "But in all seriousness, Spot, you're my best friend, and when you ranted about the 'cute blonde boy with the beautiful, baby blue eyes', I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness because you were happy and you trusted me enough to open up to me."

Ace smiles. "So even if we've had fights, we've teased each other, you talked my ears off, and have given me useless facts about Race, and I've done the same with Smokes, you're my brother and it's always nice to hear something other than the cold-hearted Spot Conlon that you're known to be."

"Race is perfect for you and you two seem to happy together." Ace smiles again, looking up at the married couple. "Congrats you two."

The group claps as Ace hugs Spot, then sits down.

Race groaned out loud when he saw Albert get up.

"What, Racer?" Albert smirks. "Dreading something?"

"I hate it when you pretend to not know what I'm dreading when it's you who's about to embarrass the heck out of me," Race recites, glaring at Albert, who laughs.

"As most people here know, Race is my bunk buddy." Albert starts. "Always has been, always was, but this wasn't always a good thing."

Race sticks his tongue out. "You love me."

Albert smiles. "I was usually top bunk, but there was one time when Race was top bunk and screamed that there was a monster under him. If you don't get it, he was saying I was a monster."

The group laughs.

Spot fist-bumps his boyfriend.

"Sparks made him apologize after that." The group chuckles. "Being his bunk buddy, I've learned a lot about him." Albert continues. "His past, how much he loves Davey but hates the fact that he doesn't let him jump off of the roof to try to fly, and stuff like 'Spot writes with his right hand, but his punch is stronger with his left hand."

"Oh no," Davey mumbles, sarcastically. "I didn't let you jump off of a roof to try to fly with cardboard wings. Poor you."

Race rolls his eyes.

"Do I want to know why he knows on what hand your punch is stronger?" Hotshot questions.

Race and Spot shake their heads.

"I have known Race for the whole time he's been a Newsie, which is almost thirteen years now. How fast time flies is crazy." Albert smiles. "And I could've never asked for a better brother."

"Congrats to you both since you two make each other so happy. Like Ace, I've been ranted to about a cute boy who goes by the name of 'Spot Conlon' and is fearless and scary, though that was from age fifteen on. It was mainly bets before that." The group laughs again. "Before I end this, I just want to remind Spot that if he hurts you, I will come after him with a pitch fork and tie him to the Bridge."

"Point gotten for the fifteen time." Spot informs Albert, who grins, giving him a thumbs up.

The group laughs again.

Lastly, it was Jack.

"Oh God," Race and Spot groan in unison.

"Remind me why we chose you and thought you wouldn't embarrass us?" Race questions.

Spot was facepalming.

"Not sure, you knew this was coming if you chose me." Jack responds.

Race groans again.

"Now, I've known Spot for his whole Newsie life and same with Race, though I've known Spot for longer." Jack starts. "Spot, when he was younger, was still very scary, don't get me wrong, but for a while he couldn't beat me in a fight." Jack pouts. "Now, he can."

The group laughs.

"Race, however, couldn't and still can't beat me in a fight." Race rolls his eyes. "He was so adorable when he was seven, I sometimes wonder what happened to him."

"You let him be best friends with me." Albert deadpans, causing everyone to laugh.

Jack chuckles. "I've seen both of these boys go through soakings, happiness, falling in love, growing up, and everything else that living in New York City as a Newsie has brought. I've seen Spot when he was a panicked leader learning how to lead Brooklyn. I've seen Race panicking when I left him in charge for a day and then when I passed the leader role down to him."

"I've seen Race go through problems with his past, same for Spot. I've seen Race in the Refuge, twice. It's not a fun sight, seeing someone you love be that broken." Jack frowns. "I've seen them both break and I've seen them look like they could explode from happiness, mainly Race when he got a new cigar or was with Lucky." Jack smiles. "But I have never seen them as happy as they are together."

"Spot, I'm sure I don't have to warn about hurting Race you since Albert has already done it fifteen times and most of the other Newsies have done it plenty of other times," Jack states, causing everyone to laugh. "But I wanted to say congrats."

The group claps, as Race and Spot get up to hug Jack and Albert.

Time skip

They did dances, Race dancing with Jack, and Davey with them at one point, and Spot brotherly dancing with Ace.

Race and Spot did the first dance together, before doing a bunch of silly dances after.

The other Newsies joined them, and some (Race included) did flips and other tricks.

They ate food, provided by Mr. Jacobi with the help of Boots and Henry, and a little of Specs, Sarah, and Davey.

Then, Sarah gave them the pictures they had taken so far.

Race surprised everyone when he got up.

He went over to a clearing in the middle of the room, and started tapping.

"I know that tune!" Smalls exclaims, as she and Albert jump up.

Race smiles. "Hey Kath, wanna reprise your role as the King of New York?"

Katherine shakes her head, smiling.

Sarah looks at her.

Katherine nods.

"Sarah," Race smiles. "Do you want to do it?"

Sarah grins, getting up.

Race: You don't need money when you're famous! They gives ya whatever ya want, gratis!

Henry, coming out of the kitchen: Such as?

Race, doing a toe-touch: A pair of new shoes with matching laces!

Romeo: A crazy wedding with a ton of Newsies!

The group laughs.

Henry, holding up his sandwich: A pastrami on rye with a sour pickle!

Finch: My personal puss on a wooden nickel!

Race: Look at me! I'm the King of New York!

Race does a quick tap set, before pecking Spot on the lips.

Race: Suddenly, I'm respectable, staring right at'cha, lousy with stature!

Albert takes the picture, using his stick again.

Race didn't know where the stick came from, but he learned not to question things a long time ago.

Thirteen years ago, to be exact.

Albert: Knobbling with all the muckery mucks, I'm blowing my dough and going deluxe!

Race: And there I be! Ain't I pretty?

"Yes!" Spot shouts.

Race turns bright red.

Race, Albert, Finch: It's my city, I'm the King of New York!

This continued until they finished the song.

Sarah was actually a pretty good tapper, and they loved getting to feel nostalgic.

Time skip

Later during the night, the New Jersey Newsies stopped in for a little bit. (It was Switch, Jacob, Axel, Slap, Alyssa, and Hefty.)

They left after a little bit, and so did Hannah and Mr. Jacobi.

Katherine and Sarah also left a little later, going to Katherine's house for the night.

Most of the Newsies fell asleep on the floor of the Theater, with Jack, Davey, and Medda passing blankets out to the half asleep or asleep Newsies.

Race fell asleep in Spot's arms, his head snuggled into Spot's chest.

Spot's chin rested just above his head and barely touching it, with his arms wrapped around Race's waist, holding him in his grip.

They both had smiles on their faces.

Race felt safe in Spot's hold, and Spot felt happy that he had someone he loved and who loved him.

He felt like he never wanted this moment to end, along with a sense of comfort because Race was safely in his arms.

Arrow took Caleb to his borough, along with Haste with Carson back to Queens.

Lucky, Les, and Tumbler had left earlier to go to the Jacob's (as in Les, Sarah, and Davey) house.

All the other Newsie couples were scattered around the Theater, cuddled in each other's arms.

The floor didn't bother them; they'd slept on worse.

The only thing that mattered was that they were together.

They had gotten through everything, side-by-side.

That's the book guys... I'm so sad that it's over. There's one A/N after this that I'm posting tomorrow.
