Third Person POV

Carson steps forward. "Spade-"

"Step back, Carson." Spade snarls, gripping the knife tighter.

Caleb shoots his twin a 'what are you doing?' look.

'Trust me, won't ya?' Carson shoots back, before turning back to Spade.

"Spade," Carson puts his hands up. "If you're going to kill my siblings and I, at least please let me give them one last hug."

Spade shares a look with Rock.

"What are you planning?" Spade questions, holding the blade closer to Race's throat.

"I'm not planning anything!" Carson shouts, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. "Is it bad that I want to hug my siblings because you're planning to kill all of us and this could be the last time I ever touched them?!"

Spade steps back in shock, almost digging the blade into Race's throat.

Jack and Spot share a look, realizing that Carson was in fact right.

This could be the last time Carson and Caleb ever hugged each other and Race if they didn't do something.

"Carson..." Haste trails off.

Carson could see the fear in his eyes.

"I'll be fine." Carson mumbles.

Carson turns back to Spade, who nods.

"Try anything and we'll slit all three of your throats." Rock whispers to Caleb.

Caleb nods, not wanting to test him to see if he was joking or not

He knew he probably wasn't joking.

Rock let go of Caleb, as Carson ran over to him.

The two boys almost fell to the ground when they grabbed each other.

"I don't want to lose you, or him..." Caleb whispers for only Carson to hear.

"And you won't," Carson whispers back, slipping a blade into his brother's pocket.

Caleb's eyes widen. "What's your plan?"

Carson sneaks a look at Spade and Race.

Spade makes a motion like he's checking a clock down the street. "Hurry up, we don't have all day."

"Says the one who's threatening to kill us." Carson snaps.

"Be careful there," Spade makes the blade that's next to Race's throat's presence known. "I will kill him now."

Carson turns back to his twin. "When I flip Spade and I, use the blade against Rock. Don't try to kill him, but at least hurt him."

Caleb nods, pulling away from his brother.

Carson walks over to Race and Spade, making eye contact with Romeo and Blink, who nod to him.

They must've seen me, Carson thinks to himself. He nods back.

Spade let's go of Race a bit, letting Carson hug him.

Carson lowers his voice for only Race to hear. "You are going to be okay, I promise. We all are."

Race nods, trying to stop himself from crying.

I believe you, Race silently responds, not having the energy to talk and being in too much pain to actually do anything. Just please don't get hurt Carse...

Carson pulls away from Race, who felt himself lose hope as he lost his brother's touch.

"I give up..." Carson states.

Caleb could see how much it hurt Carson to say those three words, and he felt it.

Race looked at him, wide-eyed, along with Haste, Jack, Spot, and the others.

Everyone other than Caleb, Blink, and Romeo.

Spade smirks. "So, you've finally seen that there is so way for you to win this,"

While Spade goes off into a rant about him winning, Carson grabs Race, ducking him under the blade in Spade's hand.

Carson flips him and Race, almost dragging Race to the ground, before drawing his blade, and stabbing Spade in his right leg.

Spade let's out a cry of pain, as he falls to the ground, holding his leg.

Caleb sees this, grabbing his knife from his pocket, and with a sudden burst of energy, he flips him and Rock, pushing Rock onto his knees, standing on his legs, pulling his arms behind him, and putting the blade to his throat.

Carson grabs the blade from Spade's hand, throwing it to Blink, who catches it.

Some of the Newsies, like Spot, Jack, Albert, and JoJo, run forward.

Albert and JoJo pull Race into a hug, while Jack helps Caleb hold Rock down.

Spot stares into Spade's eyes as stands over him.

Spade scowls at him, as Spot steps on his wound, where Carson stabbed him.

Spade tried not to look like it was hurting him, but Spot could see past it.

Ace pulls him off of Spade. "Let's not stoop to his level."

Spot rolls his eyes, but nods nonetheless.

Hotshot and Red force Spade to stand up, tying his hands behind his back.

Spade limps as he stands up, but Hotshot and Red don't seem to care.

Race started crying in Albert and JoJo's arms, and to be honest, the other two boys looked and felt like they were going to cry as well.

The three of them let go, and Race hugged his two brothers again.

Carson hugs his brothers close. "I told you we'd all be safe."

Race just nodded, not saying a word. He physically couldn't.

The three boys let go of each other.

Race hugged Jack, and a few other boys.

Carson went to go hug his boyfriend.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again." Haste mumbles against his neck.

Carson smiles a bit. "I can't promise it."

Haste rolls his eyes.

"I swear he and Race are so alike." Specs comments, dramatizing a bit, turning towards Finch and Tommy boy, who laugh.

Then, Race turned to Spot, who also looked like he was going to cry.

A sob escaped Race's lips as he stared at Spot.

Spot grabbed him, pulling him close to him.

Race dug his head into Spot's chest, sobbing.

"I love you so much." Spot whispers, forcing himself not to start crying.

Race opened his mouth to speak, but he just started coughing.

"Come on," Spot whispers, slipping an arm under Race's legs and an arm behind his back. "You're going to need some help."

Race lays his head on Spot's chest as Spot picks him up, closing his eyes.

"Race," Jack and Davey walk over to him. Jack grabs Race's hand. "Please stay awake. We can't have you falling asleep till we know you're okay."

Race nods weakly, holding onto Jack's hand like he was going to lose him.

Race's grip on his hand was strong, even with the fact that he was feeling weak.

Spot turns to his second, fourth, and fifth, Race still in his arms. "Take them to the basement of the Lodge. Make sure they don't get out."

Spade glares at Race, mentally murdering him.

Ace smacks him across the face. "You have no right to look at him like that, or even to look at him, so unless you want to be stabbed in your other leg, look at the ground."

Spot, Jack, and a few others start running towards the Lodge, Specs and Davey already heading there so they can help Race and be prepared.

He had survived the fight, he was going to survive this.
