Part 6

After a quick break for lunch, the rebels, along with their Jedi teachers made their way to an open place in the middle of the base. Rex and Anakin, along with the help of a few rebels dragged 3 repurposed destroyers out of some boxes and placed them in front of the rest of the group.

"Destroyers are quick," Anakin started, "pack twin blasters, and come with their own shield generators. Nothing short of a cannon will pierce it." Anakin paused to allow for the information to be digested before continuing. "They do have two weaknesses, however. You will need to work together to exploit them."

Anakin gave a nod to Rex who then  pressed a button on a control panel, causing the destroyer to come to life and activate its shield. "The shields deflect high velocity attacks," Anakin continued. Rex took out a blaster and shot at the destroyer to demonstrate the Jedi's claims. The shield easily deflected each of his blasts. The destroyer then moved to face ex

"What the shields don't stop, however, are slow or stationary objects. They're designed to absorb them so nothing hinders their movement." As Anakin was saying this, Ahsoka, who was standing behind the machine, activated a bomb-like device and slowly tossed it towards the destroyer. It bounced a few times before it slid inside the shield. Once it came to a full stop, it sent out an electromagnetic pulse that disabled the destroyer.

"Destroyers are blind from behind," Ahsoka stated. "A distraction combined with a rear assault, will give you a kill. The trick is to get the right speed on the droid popper." The entire time Ahsoka was talking, there was a smile plastered on his face. It was something about her voice, she spoke with a certain regality. Steela noticed his smile and just scowled.

Once Ahsoka had finished her explanation, Rex pressed the same button again that he had earlier, but this time all three destroyers activated. He took a droid popper from his pocket and held it up. "These are unarmed. Just concentrate on getting it past the shield," he said tossing the popper to Saw.

Saw caught the device and strode confidently towards the destroyer. "Watch and learn," he said giving a side glance to Lux. He tossed the droid popper at the destroyer, but it came in with too much speed and bounced right off.

"Quite brilliant," Lux remarked sarcastically. Ahsoka smiled and tossed him a droid popper of his own. He caught it and took a second to concentrate before giving it a toss. The popper was rolled much more slowly than Saw's, and easily slid past the shield.

"Hmm. Nice touch," Ahsoka remarked a bit seductively.

Lux blushed and was taken aback by this, but her tone went unnoticed by all but him. "Thanks," he replied with a curt nod, quickly regaining his composure. Steela frowned at the interaction between the two, and quickly jumped in before anything else could happen.

"Not bad," she said giving him a playful punch on the shoulder. Lux smiled and pushed her back playfully. Ahsoka sighed and reluctantly grabbed another droid popper and tossed it to Steela. The girl grabbed the popper out of the air confidently and tossed it towards the destroyer; however, much like her brother, she threw it too hard and it bounced right off. "Ugh," she exclaimed angrily. Ahsoka just smirked happily.

"Be mindful of your frustration," Obi-Wan advised. "It'll only hold you back."

"Here," Lux said walking over to Steela. He grabbed onto her arm and shoulder. "Use your shoulder, let your arm swing and keep your eyes on the target," Lux instructed moving Steela's arm in a throwing motion. Steela smiled and nodded at Lux, as he continued to move her arm in the same motion.

Ahsoka watched the two from off to the side, her heart breaking more every moment they were together. She felt like she was losing Lux, even after what he had just told her. The togruta could feel tears starting to form in her eyes, but forced them back inside. She had to be strong and couldn't key the others in on her feelings.

"Okay, let's get back to work," Rex began. "Everyone pair up. We'll practice in groups."

Everyone began to pair up, and Ahsoka smiled. Maybe now she'd get the chance to spend some time with Lux. She began to talk over to him, but saw him smiling at Steela as the two walked off away from her. She looked down dismayed.

"Hey, Commander," a voice called. Ahsoka didn't look up, she was still thinking about Lux. "How about uhm helping me practice?" Ahsoka finally looked up and met Saw's green eyes. She smiled at him and nodded. The two walked over to a droid to begin practicing.

After a few tosses, all of which bounced right off the shield, Saw sighed and threw his hands in the air. "I can't get the distance or the speed right!" He complained.

"Don't give up," Ahsoka urged. "Learning this could save your life and those around you." Saw looked at her for a moment before nodding slightly. She tossed another droid popper to him. "A little backspin might help."

Ahsoka stole a quick glance over to Lux. Much to her dismay, he was still draped around Steela, "helping" her. "Just take it easy," Ahsoka heard him say. "Don't get frustrated." Ahsoka frowned and looked down. That should be her and Lux.

Ahsoka was broken from her thoughts by cheers and applause from those around her. She turned back to see that Saw had gotten the popper past the shield. "You got it!" Ahsoka said excitedly.

"You're a good teacher, Jedi," Saw thanked. He turned around to celebrate with some of the other Rebels.

"Ugh, just forget it. I'll never learn this," Ahsoka heard a voice call. She turned in time to see Steela shrug Lux off and storm away. Ahsoka smiled a bit, but wiped it off her face quickly.

"Uh, keep practicing," she told Saw before walking after Steela. As Ahsoka approached, instead of being hostile like before, the young woman just sighed and looked up at Ahsoka.

"You made it look easy," she said solemnly.

"It wasn't always that way," Ahsoka replied.

"Right. The Force," Steela remarked bitterly. "That your secret?"

"No. Perseverance. Look you'll get the hang of it. I wouldn't let it get you down."

"I'm not feeling down," Steela mocked. "I just know what I'm good at." She raised her rifle and looked down its scope. Ahsoka got the message and nodded at her. The two returned to the base, not saying another word to each other.

When they go there, the training had shifted from practice with the droid poppers, to target practice. Ahsoka felt Steela's demeanor change, and she became much more happy. When it was finally her turn, she hit each target with ease.

"Impressive," Anakin remarked. "most impressive."

Ahsoka rolled her eyes. Anyone could hit a stationary, non-lethal target. "Fixed targets are one thing," she said. "How about this?" Ahsoka smirked as she lifted one of the targets with the force and began to move it around. Steela took aim and fired, the shot barely glancing off the target. The next shot was much the same, but the third was dead center and hit with enough force that the target was pulled from Ahsoka's hold on it.

Ahsoka sighed. Steela had bested her this time. "Nice job," she conceded. Lux and the rest of the rebels surrounded her, giving her words of praise for her expert marksmanship.

"You have clearly mastered your ability to focus," Obi-Wan congratulated. Steela nodded at him in thanks. Ahsoka just rolled her eyes and sighed. She didn't even realize that Anakin had walked over to her.

"Snips, are you losing focus?" He asked.

"No, it's just... I don't know," Ahsoka replied stealing a glance to where Steela and Lux were talking.

Anakin frowned slightly and placed a hand gently on his padawan's shoulder. "Look, Ahsoka, I understand how you feel. I'm sure he'll come around when you tell him."

Ahsoka bit her lip. "Are you sure master? It fees like I'm losing him, and I'm not sure I even want to burden him with the news. What if he doesn't love me anymore? I don't want to force him to be with me because I'm carrying his child. If he wants to be with Steela, I won't stop him. I just want him to be happy."

Anakin frowned even more. He hated seeing her like this. "I think he's just a confused teenager Ahsoka. I've seen the way he acts around you, and it's completely different than when he's around Steela. Maybe he feels something for her, but whatever he feels for you is ten times as strong."

Ahsoka smiled up at Anakin. "Thanks master, for always knowing just what to say." Anakin nodded at Ahsoka. The two turned back just in time to hear Rex give the next piece of instruction.

"A head shot is the only decisive way to disable a droid," he stated, "They don't need arms, legs, or even bodies to pass intel to central command." After letting the words soak in for a second, he gave the order. "Alright, shoot at will."

Steela and Saw raised their rifles and looked down the scope. However, Steela lowered hers in confusion. "Wait a minute. What is that?" She asked.

"Droids!" Saw called out, pointing in the same direction Steela had been looking. In that moment, hundreds of battle droids emerged from the cover of the woods.

Suddenly, a rocket was shot by one of the droids, and headed right for the group of rebels. "Take cover!" Rex shouted as everyone attempted to find a place to hide from the blast. Anakin and Obi-Wan immediately sprung into action, activating their sabers and deflecting blaster bolts.

After a few moments of this, the two ducked behind cover. "It appears the training is over," Obi-Wan remarked sarcastically.

The two sprung back into action, as the rest of the rebels joined in, shooting back at the droids.

"I'll take the left flank if you take the right," Anakin suggested.

"No, Anakin. We can only protect them. We cannot fight this war for them," Obi-Wan reminded him. Anakin nodded, but was not happy.

The droids kept coming in droves. As soon as one was taken out, two replaced it. "There are too many," Steela remarked.

"But Anakin, Ahsoka, and I can hold them off while you get your people out of here," Obi-Wan instructed her.

"You didn't teach us to run,"  Steela replied, refusing his order. She activated her comm and spoke, "Saw, use your disruptors to take out the droids."

"I'm on it," came Saw's reply. "Ready disruptors," Saw called out to his men. "On my mark... Now!" Saw and the rest of the rebels with him tossed their disruptors at the droids. They landed, and for a few seconds nothing happened. The droids just looked at them puzzled. Suddenly, they blew up, destroying anything nearby.

"Not bad," Anakin commented.

"That is only the first wave," Obi-Wan reminded him. As if on cue, an AAT emerged from the trees and sent a blast towards the band of rebels. The shots were rather inaccurate, killing no rebels, but destroying everything that they did  hit.

"We'll handle this," Obi-Wan said.

"No, I will," Steela overruled. She turned and aimed her rifle. "Duck!" She called to Obi-Wan and Anakin. The two Jedi obliged and ducked down. Steela shot her rifle, breaking open the pens of all the animals the rebels used for transportation. They all rushed out and ran over the ground troops, sending them flying and smashing them to pieces.

Once most of the battle droids were taken care of, Saw turned to Lux. "Hey, Bonteri, you ready to try again?" He asked producing a droid poppers from his pouch. Lux nodded in response and grabbed one of his own.

The two ran off, Ahsoka had been to focused on blocking blaster fire, that she hadn't heard their brief conversation. As soon as she saw them heading for the AAT, fear filled her whole body.

"Hey! What are you doing?" She called out to them.

"What you taught us!" Saw shouted back as he ran closer to the AAT, Lux just behind him. Once they reached the tank, Saw opened the front hatch and tossed his droid popper inside, then closed the hatch and jumped off. Lux did much the same, except with the top hatch. The droid up top began to give some speech about surrender and paying for their crimes. Ahsoka had had enough of that nonsense, and used the force to close the hatch. Shortly after she did, the bombs went off, blowing the AAT to pieces.

Saw and Lux had narrowly escaped the blast. Ahsoka and Steela rushed up to the pair, Ahsoka helping Saw to his feet, and Steela helping Lux (much to Ahsoka's dismay).

"We, uh, need to clean you up," Steela told the two.

Saw chuckled a bit. "I like it. Now you look more like a soldier than a politician."

"Well, maybe a good politician needs to get dirty now and then," Steela remarked before walking off. Lux followed her, with Saw and Ahsoka in tow.

After the rebels had celebrated their victory a bit, Obi-Wan and Anakin brought them back down to reality.

"Take pride in your victory, but this is not the end. The war is far from over," Obi-Wan reminded.

"Yes. You are ready for whatever they throw at you. The next phase of the plan can now begin. We need a way to get into the city," Anakin said.

"I think I have an idea," Lux stated. He explained his idea to the group. They would act as hunters and gatherers who lived out on the other side of Onderon, telling the droids that they needed to get into the city to sell their goods. The whole group seemed to like the idea, so they began immediately preparing.

Soon they were approaching the gates to the city. "Halt," a droid instructed. "What were you doing outside of the city gates?"

"Hunting," Lux replied. "We've been trekking for days."

The droid still seemed a bit skeptical. "Did you register before your excursion?"

"No, but most of our time is spent in the bush collecting our traps. We come to the city to sell. You can't get thrip larva like this in Iziz," he said holding up a pouch. "Only the biggest trees on the other side of Onderon."

"Hey, listen, we need to deliver all of this in time for supper," Steela called out to the droid.

"Hmmm," the droid mused. He turned to the other droid doing a scan of their cargo. "Are you scanning anything?" The first droid asked.

"it's hard to tell with so much organic matter," the second droid replied.

"Come on!" One of the rebels in the back yelled. "Our merchants are waiting inside. Can you hurry it up?"

"Let them through," the second droid instructed.

"Roger, roger," the first droid replied as he opened the ray shield. The rebels made their way into the city.

"Good plan," Ahsoka remarked to Lux with a smile.

"Lie Saw said, these droids are dumber than we though," Lux replied with a chuckle.

"Not a bad start," Anakin congratulated once he had caught up. "But now, the hard work begins."

"You must find recruits and choose your targets wisely," Obi-Wan instructed.

"They'll be looking for us," Steela pointed out.

"We should split up," Lux advised.

"Regroup after nightfall," Saw added on. "I'll alert our brothers."

"We'll make sure you have the supplies you need," Anakin told Lux.

"Rex and I will take care of that," Ahsoka said beaming at him.

"Good luck," Lux told Ahsoka with a smile.

"You too," Ahsoka and Steela responded at the same time. Ahsoka glanced at Steela and scowled a bit, but the woman didn't notice, as she walked off. Lux sent Ahsoka one last smile before walking off into the crowd as well.

After a few hours, the rebels that had entered the city together met up in an old abandoned apartment. Each person had brought at least one other back with them, more than doubling their numbers.

"Well done," Obi-Wan said.

"You have all worked very hard today. You may take the rest of the night off to rest," Anakin instructed. There was a small cheer in the room. and then everyone left. Some went to rooms to sleep, others out into the town to enjoy the night.

Steela and Saw began to talk with Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Rex about their next move. This meant that Lux was alone, away from Steela, for almost the first time all day. Ahsoka smiled and walked over to him.

"Hey," she said softly.

Lux jumped a bit, startled. "Oh, it's just you," he replied smiling at Ahsoka. The two just looked deep into each others eyes for a moment, neither of them saying a word.

Ahsoka, for the life of her, couldn't remember what she wanted to talk to Lux about. All that she cared about was being in his company. That was all she needed.

"So there was something you wanted to tell me earlier?" Lux asked, breaking Ahsoka from her trance.

"Oh yeah," Ahsoka responded. She looked around for a place more private she could take Lux to tell him. Her eyes landed on an open door that led to a bedroom. She grabbed Lux's wrist and dragged him into the room.

"Wow Ahsoka, I didn't realize you were that excited for a round two," Lux said with a small chuckle.

Ahsoka rolled her eyes and punched his arm playfully. "Can it Bonteri. This is important." She sat on the side of the bed and motioned for Lux to do the same. He obeyed and sat down next to her.

"So, what is it you needed to tell me?" Lux questioned, grabbing both of Ahsoka's hands, and holding them in his. He looked deep into her crystal blue eyes.

Ahsoka hesitated for a second and looked away. What if he wasn't happy? What if he didn't still love her? What if he made her get an abortion? What if-

Ahsoka forced herself to stop thinking that way. She turned back to face Lux, and saw him looking at her with concern. She took a deep breath and started. "So Lux... I assume you remember what happened on Carlac?"

Lux smiled a big smile at the mention of the planet. "Of course I do. It was one of the greatest nights of my life."

This made Ahsoka's heart flutter. Maybe he did still feel the same. "Well... something happened that night."

"A lot of things happened that night," Lux said seductively with a smirk. Ahsoka giggled, but quickly changed her demeanor.

"Lux, seriously. Can you please take this seriously?"

Lux straightened up, and looked her back in the eye. "Yes, sorry 'Soka."

Ahsoka smiled. She loved when he called her that. "What I'm talking about didn't have to do with what we did. I mean it did, but it didn't."

"Ahsoka just tell me, please." Lux gave her hands a reassuring squeeze. This caused Ahsoka to calm down a bit.

She took a deep breath. "Lux... I'm pregnant."

Lux seemed to freeze for a second. A look of shock plastered on his face. "B- but we... w-we were... we used..."

"Lux... I know. My reaction was the same, but according to Anakin, it doesn't work every time."

"Anakin knows??? How did he find out? Who else knows?" Lux asked.

"Well of course he'd know. He's like my brother. He's helped me a ton these last two months keeping it a secret. I think we've done a good enough job that no one else knows besides the nurse at the Temple. Obi-Wan may be on the scent though, he's clever like that."

Lux just sat there for a moment in silence, taking everything in. He was so confused. He had had feelings for Ahsoka ever since he first met her on Raxus, and had finally expressed his feelings to her on Carlac, and she had even reciprocated those feelings. He was elated then, but now, now he was confused. These last few weeks he had spent with Steela, he started to feel something for her. She was there for her when Ahsoka wasn't. He didn't even know if he'd ever see her again, he had started moving on.

Now Ahsoka had come back into his life only a day ago, and he had already been confused. His feelings for Ahsoka and Steela conflicting inside of him, not knowing how to handle it. And to add onto it all, Ahsoka had just dropped this giant bombshell on him. Now everything he was feeling was even more mixed up. He just needed time to think about everything.

"Lux?" Ahsoka asked concerned. He had been silent for quite a while.

Lux started to get up from the bed. "I-I need some time to think everything over. I'm... I'm sorry Ahsoka." He ran out of the room, leaving Ahsoka sitting there on the bed as tears ran down her face.

Okay so I know this took waaaaaaaay longer than I said it would, but it also ended up being a lot longer than I expected. Possibly even my longest chapter ever, idk. Anyways, hope y'all enjoy it!
