Chapter Twenty Four

Noah's POV

I hear some light laughter and turn my head to face the staircase.

I instantly see Maggie and Jamie standing at the top.

I realize that Maggie is there but all I can focus on is Jamie and how stunning she looks.

She is dressed in a cute blue and white polka dot thing, which looks like a short dress to me but apparently is called a romper...

Over that she has a white denim vest and she wears white heels. She has done up her hair into a messy bun, with strands falling around her face to frame it.

Her outfit and the heels make her already long legs look even longer, and smooth. And the shade of the outfit makes her skin look somewhat more tan.

Jamie looks absolutely breathtaking and I sudden feel self conscious in my cargo shorts and black shirt.

I see Jamie every day, but I swear each time I see her I fall in love all over again.

"H-hey?" I stutter.

It's funny how you can be completely in love with someone, and they already know all of your faults, yet you still stutter and get embarrassed whenever you're around them.

I clear my throat, "you look beautiful Jamie."

Her cheeks flame red, "thank you. So do you... I mean, not beautiful, but handsome..." She corrects herself.

Is it bad that I love the effect I have on her?

It's not that I like seeing her stutter and act all awkward, but seeing her like this, I know that she is committed to me, the same way I'm committed to her. I know that she only acts like this around me because she wants to be her very best, because she is turly in love.

But the truth is, I don't need her very best; as far as I'm concerned she already is the very best. I love her just the way she is.

I laugh, "you ready?"

"Yep." She tells me, nodding.

"Okay, we should get going soon then."

"Okay," she replies, following me to the door, "Maggie we'll be back in a few hours, so if you wanna stay here and chill that's cool, but if you want to leave, you know where the key is." She tells Maggie.

Maggie nods, "thanks Jaim, but I have plans with Ryan, so I'll just leave when you do."

Hmm... Ryan didn't tell me they hung out, when did that happen?

"Let's go then." She laughs lightly.

I open the door, letting her pass, followed by Maggie. I then pass through, shutting the door, and letting Jamie lock it.

"Umm, Noah... Not to put a damper on our date, but how exactly are we getting to wherever it is that we're going?"

I smile, I was wondering when that question would be asked.

"In that..." I say, pointing to the taxi pulling up next to the driveway.

She pulls me into a side hug, "we really gotta learn how to drive, I can't imagine how much money all these taxis are costing."

"It's all good," I laugh, accepting the hug, "my dad has been helping out with that. I hate to spend his money, but he insists! He says that, although this doesn't make up for everything, that it is a step in the right direction."

She hums, "that's sweet. I'll be sure to thank him when I see him next."

"Okay, well you two lovebirds have fun, okay?" Maggie calls to us.

Jamie laughs, "same to you Mag!"

Maggie blushes, and begins walking down the sidewalk, while me and Jamie pile into the car.

I hand the driver a sheet of paper, "here please."

The driver nods and takes off.

"Wow, really? A note? You still can't say where we're going?" Jamie asks, in mock amusement.

"Nope. All I can say is that I hope you love it."

"If it's planned by you, how can I not?" Jamie asks, leaning in to give my lips a light kiss.

***********************************

After about five minutes in the car I begin to take the blind fold out of my pocket.

"Blindfold? Are you serious?"

"Yes. In order for you to be completely surprised, I need you blindfolded." I say, holding back my laughter.

Jamie sighs, "and I thought the note was crazy."

I laugh internally as Jamie puts the blindfold on. I really hope that she likes this. Even before she asked me why I had never really asked her out, I had been thinking up a romantic date idea. We've both been through so much, and she's been an amazing help through everything. She deserves this and so much more. I wish I could give her everything, but seeing as we're only in the tenth grade, this was the best I could come up with. I hope it's enough.

We soon pull up to the destination that I wrote down on the paper.

"How much?" I ask the driver.

"Your dad has already covered that ahead of time."

"Oh right. And you can be back at around eight thirty?" I ask him.

"Yes, I can." He responds.

"Okay thank you." I say quickly, hopping out my door, then going and helping Jamie out of hers.

"I've gotta say, this is really sweet kid. Have fun." The driver says.

I smile, "thank you."

He nods his head once, and pulls away.

"Okay we're here." I tell Jamie.

"Can I take the blindfold off?" She asks excitedly.

"Not just yet, but soon. We have to do a little walking."

"Noah, I'm in wedges, if I twist my ankle this is on you." She laughs.

I smile, although she can't see, and place one of my hands on her waist, the other on her arm.

I guide Jamie slowly down the wooden path, trying my best to avoid the picnic tables.

"Okay, there are a few steps here, be extra careful." I say to her.

"Okay," she replies warily, gripping onto my arm tighter, wobbling the tiniest bit.

We make it safely down the five wide steps, "ouch." Jamie hisses, as the hot sand engulfes her foot, fully covering her toes.

"Okay..." I tell her, "look."

I watch Jamie slowly take off her blindfold, her eyes widening at the sight in front of her.

She takes a few steps forward, cautiously, taking in the whole view with awe.

"I've been planning this for a while actually," I tell her as her hand grazes the picnic table set up in the middle of the sandy beach, "I had no time to come and set it up on my own, so I had a little help from Mark, but the idea is fully mine."

Her eyes light up as she takes in the scene before her, watching the sun set over the water. The light purples, pinks, and oranges swimming together in harmony. It looks like a painters palet, all blobs of color, mixed together to create something beautiful.

Jamie scans the fence, outlining the sides of the secluded beach, which have been decorated with tiny gleaming fairy lights. Adding to the mystical affect.

Her gaze finally settles on me, and though her eyes are wide with wonder, the silence is something I'm not used to, and it's making me slightly nervous, "do you like it?"

Jamie stares at me blankly for a moment, "Noah, I love it." She whispers.
