Chapter Twenty Five
Jamie's POV
As I take the blindfold off the sight is so astounding that my jaw drops ever so slightly.
The colours dance in the sky like something you would see only in an art gallery.
I listen to Noah as he explains how he had been planning this for quite some time before I asked, and that this was fully his idea but he had some help from his friends. Meanwhile, I keep staring in awe at my surroundings.
The water is so perfectly blue, mirroring all the colors of the sky above it.
In front of me though, is where Noah put all his effort... The fence which separates each secluded beach is decorated with white glowing fairy lights. The picnic table has a rustic element due to the two mason jars set in the middle which are filled with candles (which I love,) and has a wide array of different foods. Little pink seashells in more mason jars decorate the posts.
The whole thing is rustic, romantic, and beautiful.
I turn to Noah with wide eyes, "do you like it?" He asks me.
It takes me a second to assure there are no tears that are going to spill before I can answer, "Noah, I love it."
He takes a noticeable breath of relief before brining me into a hug, "thank you." I tell him. I can't believe he did all of this for me. I honestly love it, and yes it was worth being blindfolded for ten minutes (not that I would ever admit that...)
"You're welcome." Noah responds as he leads me over to the table.
Noah must have really thought ahead, on the table is some chicken salad, a big bowl of cut up watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, and grapes. He has also brought some pasta, which is somehow still warm, and a big pitcher of iced tea.
My stomach growls, as I haven't eaten since breakfast. Noah laughs and begins to take out two plates and some cutlery.
"Dig in." He says, and I do. I grab a little bit of everything. Fitting as much on my plate as I possibly can.
"I'm glad you like this." Noah tells me, putting food onto his plate as well.
"Noah, it's absolutely gorgeous. And so thoughtful. Thank you."
"Anything for you Jamie." He says, staring at me with this wonder in his eye, probably similar to the way I stared at the scenery.
"I love you." I tell him.
He examines my face for a few moments longer, looking at me as if I was the only person in the whole world, the only person for him, before saying, "I love you too."
Part of me was expecting him to say 'I love you more.' Like he normally does when we are joking around. But the way he said it, so seriously and meaningfully that I knew he meant it, and that he always would. I knew he wanted me to know it, more now than ever. I know that it is important to him that I know how much he means that.
"Jamie," says Noah and by the tone of his voice I can tell he wants to say something serious... that whatever he wants to talk about isn't exactly a joking matter.
I instantly put my fork down, looking at him. For some reason my voice comes out shaky, "yes?"
"We have been through so much together. Me with my dad, you with yours. We have faced a lot. I could never have gone through that without you. I love you so much," he takes a deep breath before continuing, "I know that usually people do really cute things for prom proposals, but I want you to know all this," wait did he just say... "I need you to know that I will always be there for you, no matter what. No matter what we face, or what happens to either of us, I will be there for you. Through thick and thin, through hard and easy, just say the word and I'll be there. You know that right?" I nod slightly, eyes still wide with anticipation, "Ok. I promise you that I will always love you, no matter how far apart we are, no matter how mad we are at eachother. You will always be the one for me." I nod again as he continues, "No more assuming things from here on out, only asking straight up...Jamie Winters I love you so insanely much. Would you please do me the favor of being my junior prom date?"
I sit there for a moment, not shocked that he asked me, but shocked at all the time he put into doing the asking. Tears begin to fill the corners of my eyes in love as I tell him yes.
"Yes. Noah, yes I would love to."
I practically jump over the table to tackle him in a hug.
"I love you so much!" I giggle as we land on the sand in a jumble.
"I love you so much!!" He laughs, tickling me and kissing all over my face.
I smile, relishing in the moment. Could life be any better? Perfect grades, perfect family, perfect friends, and most of all, the boy I love lying in the sand with me, kissing me silly.
He stops kissing me for a moment, "what's on your mind?" He asks.
"Everything, you, my family, my friends, how lucky I am." I respond.
"Jamie, I'm the lucky one." He tells me, but no joking tone like normally, he truly believes that he is the lucky one. That he has the perfect life. And I love that I'm one of the reasons for it.
"Okay." I mumble, kissing his lips for a long, slow time.
"Tell me that I'll never loose you, that you will always be right here. Right by my side, forever and always." He says suddenly.
"I promise." I say, closing my eyes, letting the feeling of his warm lips run over my face, meaning the words I say. I will never leave him, even if I wanted to, I don't think I ever could. This boy has a found a permanent place in my heart, and I know and love that he will be there forever.
