Chapter Sixteen
Jamie's POV
"That would be great, thank you so much." I hear as I walk in the house after taking a much needed run.
"Who was that?" I ask Noah as the phone beeps, signaling it is off.
"Oh, the therapist. I called the one I told you I have been researching about. She is super nice. I booked an appointment for my dad." Noah informs me.
"That's awesome!" I exclaim, "when is the appointment for?"
"They said they can do later today. I'm going to have to call my dad and see if he is up for that."
"Noah, that's great!! You better call him soon."
"Yes. That was just what I was about to do. Hold on." He says as he picks up his phone and starts to dial a number.
I hear ringing and then a voice answer. It sounds muffled through the phone, but I can tell it is his dad.
Noah turns away from the kitchen and begins to pace around the living room.
He looks my way and I raise an eyebrow as if to ask 'is everything okay?'
He smiles at me, reassuring me that everything is fine.
"Okay." He says into the phone.
More muffled voice comes through over the phone.
"Yep, 3:00. OK. Good, see you then." He continues after a while.
Noah hangs up the phone and turns to me, smiling brightly.
"Everything's good?" I ask.
"Everything's great!" He says excitedly.
I smile as he continues, "I think my dad is really getting his life back on track. He threw out all of his booze and alcohol this morning. He cooked a meal for himself, and he is excited about seeing the therapist. I know it may not seem like much, but it is really helping him."
"Noah, that is really really amazing. I'm so happy for both of you. It sounds like he is really trying." I tell him.
"He is."
I smile, "do you want me to come with you to go to see the therapist or should I stay here?"
"I hate to ask, but could you come? I would feel better if you did."
"Of course. I would be happy to."
I suddenly realize that I just went for a run and that I am probably super smelly and gross and sweaty, "before we go, I'm just going to hop in the shower."
"Sure thing." He tells me, as I begin to head up the stairs.
I set my phone on the counter and put on a play list while I undress and get in the shower.
I hope everything works out for Noah and his dad, I really do. They only have each other right now. I couldn't imagine not being close to my family. I feel awful that after his mom died, he didn't have much of one to be close with.
I step out onto the cool tile floor and am surrounded by steam. I soak it in for a few minutes. I wrap a towel around my hair and another around my body.

What do you wear when you're going to see a therapist for your boyfriend's dad? Is what I am asking myself as I go through my clothes.
I want to look mature but not seem like his caretaker. I am there for support, I was never really a part of all this.
I decide on a pair of white jeans, a white top and a navy blue three-quarter sleeve blazer. It makes me look somewhat adult-ish, yet doesn't give off the vibe that I think I know better than a therapist.
Perfect.
**************************
"Hey, you almost ready?" I ask, walking down the stairs.
"Yup!" Noah says, pulling on a jacket.
"Awesome. Let me just get some shoes and I'll be ready too." I tell him, getting my navy sneakers to match the blazer.
I slip the shoes on my feet and Noah opens the door for the both of us. I lock the door and put the keys in my purse.
Noah grabs my hand and interlocks it with his own.
"Where is the office?" I ask.
"Actually," he starts, "they are going to come to us. I am still not old enough to drive and I'm not too sure my dad is in the best condition to be driving at the moment. So, the therapist said that she would come to the house and do a session."
"That's great." I say.
"Yes, I thought so too!"
The rest of the walk is silent, both of us on our own trains of thought.
**********************
"You ready?" I ask Noah as we approach the house.
"I think so." He replies, squeezing my hand a little bit as I give him a reassuring smile.
We open the door and step in together.
His dad greets us with warm smiles and I am happy to see him clean shaven wearing jeans and a black hoodie. I can tell that Noah feels the same because he seems to lighten up. Automatically I can feel him loosen his grip on my hand, and I feel relieved.
"Hello Noah, Jamie," he says and gives a polite nod, "how are you both today?"
"We're good dad. Happy to see you in such high spirits." Noah replies for the both of us.
"So am I, son."
"When does the therapist get here?" I ask.
"She should be here in a few minutes. Let's put on some coffee, yes?" Noah suggests.
"Sounds good."
We put on the coffee pot and get out a few mugs. We put the sugar cup and the cream on the table as well.
****************************
The doorbell sounds and we all suddenly tense up. We are all quite nervous and don't exactly know what to expect.
"Hello." Noah says, opening the door.
"Hi, you must be Noah. We spoke on the phone, I'm Lorainne." Says the woman, standing in the doorway.
