Chapter Eight♡
Noah's POV
"And then what happened?" Asks Ryan as I retell the events of last night.
Ah. Last night.
The night I finally kissed Jamie.
And it was amazing, better than anything I have ever imagined.
"We-uh, we kissed." I tell him, hiding the giant smile creeping up on my lips.
"You WHAT?!" He exclaims
I laugh, "we were practicing and then I told her the truth, that I didn't really need a tutor, and she kissed me, and I kissed her back. Then we confessed how we both felt."
"Aw! My boys finally a man!" Ryan says, patting my back like a proud father would.
"Enough chit-chat boys, if you wanted to talk go join the book club!!" Shouts coach, as we are running our laps.
We continue running, once we are a safe distance from coach and are sure he's not watching, Ryan whispers to me; "so what happened after you kissed?"
"It wasn't awkward, we just kept shooting and talking and laughing with each other, it was great!" I say.
I'm so happy that after our kiss things were normal, I hate when you kiss someone and then it is just weird and awkward after, Jamie wasn't like that, she talked more actually.
"Well that's good." Ryan tells me.
"Yea."
We finish up practice with a drill and then we're allowed to leave.
"So how about you?" I ask Ryan, "got your eye on anyone special?"
"No..." He trials off, blushing.
"Oh come on Ry, you know you can't lie to me, what's her name?"
"Um, you know that girl Jamie is always with? Maggie? I kind of like her."
Thinking of it now, I have caught him staring at her a bit. Of course I never asked, because I was too concentrated on Jamie, but they would make a cute couple. They're both smart and nice. And Maggie's also really pretty, yeah, I could see them together.
"Aw, Ryan's got a crush!" I say, imitating him.
He turns away blushing, and murmurs something under his breath.
"But seriosuly, you guys would be good together. I could talk to her if you wanted?" I offer
"Could you?"
"Absolutely man."
"Thank you." He says
I slip on my shoes and grab my bag, "see you tomorrow then?"
"Yeah, text me later." Ryan replies.
"Will do." I call, exiting the changeroom.
When I get home I realize my dad isn't here, typical. He's probably at some club, drinking himself away.
I walk up to my room and plop my bag down on my bed. I rummage through, finding my math text book. I open it up and finish the questions with ease.
I don't have anything else to do really so I open up my laptop and log into Netflix, propping up the laptop on a pile of pillows I settle in, clicking play on 'fast and furious.'
I just get to the part where Mia finds out about Brian being a cop, when my phone rings.
A picture of Jamie pops up on the screen and my heart skips a beat.
I pick up the phone before I get memorized by her beautiful face.
"Hello?" I ask
"Hey!" Comes her voice
"What's up?" I ask her
"Oh, nothing really. I was just wondering, since you don't actually need a tutor, we aren't going to continue right?"
"Oh, uh, yeah, I mean there's no point in you telling me things I already know." I say
"Yeah."
"But, I'm still free those days if you want to hang out or something." I tell her.
"Yeah, for sure. Maybe not every time, but sometimes that works."
"Great! Did you do the homework?" I ask, not wanting to end the conversation.
"Yeah, it was pretty easy. Are you ready for the test?"
"I haven't really studied much for it yet, when is it?"
"In two days." She tells me.
"Oh... well I better get studying."
"Yeah, same, I've barely studied at all yet, I've been so busy."
I can't help but feel slightly guilty, knowing that she could have been studying, but instead she was 'tutoring' me.
"Well, if you're not doing anything you could come over and study with me." I offer.
"Yeah, tonight?"
"If that works for you."
"It does. Where do you live?" She asks.
"I can meet you at the skate park and we can walk from there."
"Sure, see you in ten minutes?"
"Okay." I say
We hang up and I immediately start putting everything in my room away, tidying up.
I then toss on a green hoodie, brush my teeth quickly, and spray myself with some cologne.
I make sure everything looks good and in place, and then run down the stairs, racing to the park.
Jamie arrives only minutes later, wearing a purple shirt that's tucked into her jeans and a brown belt.
Damn.
She's just so beautiful, I can't even think when I'm around her.
"Hey." She says shyly.
"Hey." I manage to get out.
She laughs, as I lead the way to my house.
We make small talk and somewhere along the way, our hands find eachother and interlock.
"Here we are." I say, opening the door to my house.
"Oh, this is nice." She says, looking around.
"Thanks." I say, leading her into the living room.
"I'll be right back, let me just grab my books." I tell her, dashing up the stairs.
I grab my textbook, a notebook and two pencils and run back down the stairs.
"Alright, I've got everything we need here, are you hungr--"
I trail off as I look up and see Jamie staring at my phone screen, her face looking shocked, and her beautiful brown eyes are clouded over with sadness and anger.
"Who's this?" She asks, turning my phone screen towards me.
As soon as the screen is facing me I see a text message.
It reads; "Hey babe, thanks for helping me out yesterday. Look, I was thinking about what you said, and I think we should talk. I still love you. Call me when you can."
Send from my ex.
Shit.
"Jamie, I---"
"Just save it, please I don't need excuses. I'm gonna go, don't call me." She says, tosses me my phone, and leaves, just like that.
