Chapter 3: New weapons
The spectators on both sides were very excited, filling the stadium with shouts and cheers. Gods and humans expressed the same sentiments regarding their fighters.
- It's Achilles!
- Achilles came to represent us!
- Excellent! We can win the first round!
- Huitzilopochtli has taken command!
- Finally, our pantheon is going to participate!
- This fight will be a blood feast for our fighter!
Huitzilopochtli and Aquiles looked at each other. The God, holding his weapon in right hand and shield in left side, while the half-god stood firm and serene, clutching his spear and shield. They only looked at each other, with external calm but with a great tension between them.
Looking at both fighters like that, Thor inevitably remembered his fight a millennium ago against Lu Bu Housen, both of them being in the same form.
- It's unheard of for a half-god fight against us! - Forseti shouted with indignation - 1000 years ago, Hercules decided to be on our side. But now, Achilles is against us... By the way, who do you think will be victorious for this round, Lord Thor?
Thor fell silent, his gaze fixed on the combatants. He heaved a sigh and commented in a calm voice.
- I'm not sure. But this will be a fight worth watching, without a doubt.
- That's very clear, Lord Thor! We'll be able to see the potential of the greatest Mesoamerica's pantheon!
In one section of the stands several colorfully and garishly dressed Gods made more noise than the others; they're the pantheon of Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec Gods for the most part. They raised shouts and exclamations of pride supporting their representative.
- They finally let us participate! And with our best warrior and king!
- Now you all will see what Huitzilopochtli can do!
- The hummingbird of war will never fall again!
- Huitzilopochtli! Huitzilopochtli!
Despite the emotion they expressed, a seated woman expressed a noticeable feeling of noticeable nervousness. She was Coatlicue, Serpent Goddess and mother of Huitzilopochtli.
- Mother? - Cuahuitlicac, Huitzilopochtli's older brother, approached the Goddess.
- I just hope... My son comes out of this fight well...
- Don't worry mother, my brother will have the victory in this fight! There is no doubt about him: he'll never fall until he wins!
- I hope so... - Coatlicue crossed his fingers in her hands.
Humans were also restless, especially a large number of soldiers, from many lands far or near Greece, and soldiers from different eras. They all admired the Greek hero they had heard from legends and myths.
- Achilles! Achilles! Achilles!
- We'll see the great Achilles in action!
- The hero who gave us the victory over Troy will easily take down that God!
- The Gods don't have a chance!
But, another section of soldiers and citizens instead of being excited seemed to be afraid of him, reflected in their expressions: the Trojans and their allies.
- Achilles will fight again. Now not against us, but for us.
- We'll see in action again a fight of that man. - commented with annoyance Cicno, king of Colonas and former ally of Troy.
- Besides, I don't think he has ever acted with all his power - commented Telephus, king of Mysia and former ally of Troy - Once he hurt me with a fraction of his strength, but it was enough to leave me so badly injured.... Only he could heal me!
- In that case, maybe this time he'll use his full potential... - Cicno put his hand to his neck - He was clever enough to choke me instead of using the sword against me!
- Damn! He's a monster in battle. This time, we'll see other Achilles' face.
One of the soldiers was not looking at arena, because his eyes closed with a gesture of annoyance. That warrior was Hector, the greatest rival Achilles had faced in his entire life.
- Brother? - asked Paris, his brother and king of Troy, with doubt and fear at seeing him.
- Gods and humans! - Heimdall in a single movement lowered one of his hands until touched the ground. - May the first round of Ragnarok... This Last Ragnarok, that will decide the future of humanity and Gods... BEGIN!!
The arena fell silent as God Huitzilopochtli decided to make his first move against his rival half-god.
But, not throwing his Xiauhcoatl's weapon to cut the throat of his rival or raising Tehuehuelli's shield to defend himself.
What he did was the least expected, causing Thor, Zeus, Shiva and all Gods join in a gesture of complete surprise: he lowered his weapons and his guard.
- Ehhhhhhh!?
- What's this!? Huitzilopochtli's first move is to let his guard down before Achilles! Just like Thor when he appeared against Lu Bu Housen!
Thor widened his eyes.
- But Achilles doesn't act in the same way! Achilles has decided to make his first move for this battle!
The Greek raised his shield and positioned it in front of him, and the spear in his right hand took it firmly and pointed the blade at Huitzilopochtli, assuming a defensive posture. Behind the case, his blue eyes conveyed a feeling of seriousness in battle.
- Achilles has taken the defensive. - Telefo commented.
- Typical. If he were in any other condition, Achilles would have immediately launched his attack, but... - Cicno put his hand to his chin - It seems that Achilles has seen something.
- Indeed. -Télefo answered him - He has seen his opponent won't be easy to knock down.
Huitzilopochtli's silence covered the arena, until the presence of Achilles, who squeezed his spear hand while a drop of sweat ran down his forehead. The half-god was beginning to feel impatient at Huitzilopochtli's bored gaze.
- Come on, my child. - Coatlicue spoke slightly, lowering her eyes - You can win.
Geir silently watched the tension building in the arena. With his fingers he moved his hair slightly, but he didn't take his eyes off to perceive any movement on the part of the God.
The Greek Gods were also very attentive, but surprised by Huitzilopochtli's attitude.
- Just like Lord Thor... - Ares spoke with an air of indignation - Is that Aztec God despising Achilles?
- Of course not. - commented Hermes - It's probable Huitzilopochtli is studying Achilles, to know how to ac.
- I don't think they're fighting in their minds - Zeus replied, giving the final word - This fight isn't going to be developed with mind games or thoughts... Will be only with brute force.
Huitzilopochtli looked at Achilles carefully; not with arrogant contempt or overwhelming admiration. Only his eyes were on the Greek warrior: he was looking at the eyes the half-god had, that could see through his armor.
Finally, after being still for a long time, the Mexica God began to advance with one of his feet.
- A-Attention, ladies and gentlemen! After the initial silence of the combat, Huitzilopochtli began to walk towards his rival...!
Achilles also walked towards him to reciprocate. But unlike the God, he held his weapons high and his step was suspicious.
- ... And Achilles responds in the same way! Both combatants begin to advance towards each other! Who will be the first to attack!?
Achilles one step at a time, but Huitzilopochtli with more confidence: both closed second by second the distance that separated them. All the spectators watched intently, knowing that the battle would be decided from the moment they both struck their first blow. The arena fell silent and they watched the two impatiently.
Being a scant three feets apart, both stopped. Huitzilopochtli was able to take a closer look at his opponent, while Achilles gripped the weapons in his hands more tightly.
An interesting pressure ran down her right arm holding his spear, which the Trojan onlookers noted. The first to feel the new pressure in the environment was Héctor, who opened his eyes for the first time.
- Here it comes. Achilles' spear...
- Ahhhhhhhhh!
With a cry and with all his might, Achilles thrust the spear at the God for a deadly blow. The deity for his part barely moved his eyes from him to the spear.
But, with a movement too fast to be real, Huitzilopochtli interposed his shield between himself and the spear, and the divine weapon collided with the divine defense without generating anything more than the sound of the metallic clash.
- W-What's this!? Achilles has attacked, but Huitzilopochtli only required one move to defend himself!
Then, the God firmly held Xiauhcoatl's weapon and raised him, while charging strength to attack him now.
With a second swift movement, he lowered the weapon to slice his opponent in half; Achilles was greatly surprised, but was able to put his shield between them and manage to defend himself.
However, the force the God used was greater than what Achilles had expected, causing the shield to suffer a dent, albeit a superficial one; in addition, the Greek hero had to crouch down and put his left knee on the ground to better withstand the blow.
On the human side, the spectators cried out in surprise and fear at this scene.
- What was that!? It is impossible!
- Achilles had to touch the ground with his knee to protect himself from the first move of the God! We have only seen 2 attacks, and we already know the big difference between both rivals! A whole fight awaits us!
- He only hit the shield with his weapon... - Telefo put a hand to his mouth.
- What a force! - Cicno commented, with envy - That hero defeated me very easily, but my eyes have been seen how he's brought to his knees.
The last to speak was Paris.
- This moment is the best gift for Trojans.
Huitzilopochtli didn't wait any longer and he raised his weapon again to make the same attack. This time Achilles reacted faster, and after separating the spear from the rival's shield he rolled on his right side, dodging the attack that the God ended up hitting the ground.
However, the force of the blow caused the ground to crack very noticeably.
- Huitzilopochtli attacks again, and Achilles had to get away from his opponent to avoid suffering that blow that seemed stronger than the previous one!
- Impossible!
- What an overwhelming force!
- This will be even more difficult!
Huitzilopochtli looked at the warrior as he plucked his weapon from the ground. And for an instant his bored look gave way to a smirk, which prompted his first interested words.
- ... You are good...
- Argh!
Achilles jumped up and ran towards the God with spear in hand at full speed.
As soon as he get to him, he used a new thrust that collided with the rival shield again; but this time he didn't leave the weapon stuck, but withdrew the spear and used another thrust, stronger than the previous one.
And before Huitzilopochtli could do anything else, Achilles launched into a constant flurry of blows, hitting all points of the shield without allowing the Aztec to counterattack.
- Hit after hit! The Greek Half-god does not stop for a moment and lunges at Huitzilopochtli's shield!
At one point, the God raised his weapon and tried to cut off Achilles's head, but Achilles with his own shield managed to deflect the movement of his rival and then continue attacking.
Huitzilopochtli defended himself with his shield and repeated that movement, this time more quickly so that it would be a surprise attack; however, Achilles ducked in time to avoid the blow, and when he stood up again he continued his thrusts.
- No matter what the Mexica God does to get rid of him, Achilles never stops his attacks!
- He's attacking without thinking! - Cicno commented - I had not seen him like that.
- Because you were dead at the time, but I do remember - Paris spoke, trying to make himself look intelligent - It's about the "anger" that dominated Achilles when my brother killed his best friend.
- If that is the case - Telefo replied - He wants to end the fight as quickly as possible.
- Achilles' Wrath - Ares spoke, looking at the speed and fury of the half-god's blows - I think only a couple of times he went into a rage...
- That's right - answered Hermes - When penetrated the Trojan troops and in his fight against Hector.
- So Achilles has gone into a rage?
- That's so ridiculous! - exclaimed Zeus - Achilles isn't in anger; he's very far from that. But it's clear he wants to finish the fight now.
After the blast from him, Achilles took a couple of steps back and aimed the spear at the God, taking the weapon from him by the opposite point, as close to the end of the weapon as possible. The Trojans widened their eyes in shock.
- That position... He's going to use 'that attack'.
- The damn attack... - Cicno frowned at him - With which he defeated me instantly.
- What he used to let my guard down, long enough for me to be mortally wounded... - Telefo spoke, also in a bad mood.
Hector was the one who was much more shocked than the others. A flash of memories hit his head, and his seriousness was drawn in his eyes.
- That attack... that destroyed my shield, my armor and finally stuck in my neck and literally tore me to pieces... - Hector put his hand to his neck, on a big lump of scar - I never believed the pain of this wound came out again.
Once he was ready, Achilles ran at full speed towards Huitzilopochtli, aiming his spear at the God's chest and accumulating all of his strength in the spear, then launched a direct thrust.
- King's Javelin!
Huitzilopochtli looked at the attack, and with a quick movement he interposed his shield between them. Achilles' spear struck, and an explosion was generated in the coliseum that raised a large cloud of dust.
- Can not be! That hit...!
- It's Achilles' "King's Javelin". His strongest attack.
The Trojans looked surprised, though their expressions quickly changed as they saw no movement through the dissipating smoke.
- Looks like it's over. - Hector commented, stretching his limbs - It was much faster than I expected, to tell the truth. But in the end... that's how Achilles is...
The Gods were shocked; yet none said or murmured anything. They only had their eyes fixed on the field, waiting for Huitzilopochtli's movements.
- Huitzilopochtli, my child... - Very scared, Coatlicue directed her tearful eyes to the sand - Get up!
- ... Mother...
Geir sighed with relief, letting her full weight fall onto her chair.
- It's finished. It seems he didn't require Leonidas's training... - She was silent for a moment with that comment in her mind - Better than not.
The Greek gods barely muttered a word.
- So... finished? - Ares, as usual, was surprised.
- So fast? This cannot be possible.
- Calm down, you two! - Zeus exclaimed, getting more comfortable in his chair and giggling with excitement. - The best part is just about to begin~
- What do you say?
The smoke was fading and second by second the scene became clearer. The spectators continued to watch intently, especially when they began to make out a couple of shadows. When the scenario cleared up, the expectations of the stands changed radically: fear, especially on the side of humanity.
Heimdall approached cautiously, and exclaimed in shock at what had just happened.
- Incredible! What a second ago seemed the clear victory of humanity, has turned into its crisis! T-The great attack of Achilles, the hero of Greece, didn't have the slightest impact on the southern hummingbird! Quite the contrary: Achilles' own spear ended up in pieces!
Achilles, with a surprised expression, had his fist nailed to Huitzilopochtli's shield, who hadn't changed his face at all. His fist released drops of blood, but it was mostly undamaged.
On the ground, the spear that the hero had had was in pieces, except for the metal tip and a piece of wood held it.
The humans screamed in fear, while the Gods regained their confidence. Zeus laughed at surprised expression of his children; on the other hand, Cuahuitlicac hugged his mother with joy.
- Ladies and gentlemen! Achilles' spear was destroyed by not resisting the impact with Huitzilopochtli's shield! Now we can see the resistance of Mesoamerica, in the first row!
Huitzilopochtli took off the shield in front of him, and raised his Xiauhcóatl which was positioned in front of his defense.
- Huh? N-No! I think we made a mistake! - Heimdall corrected himself immediately - It seems that, in reality, the God of war has used his weapon to destroy the human's weapon!
The humans were mostly surprised.
- What?
- He destroyed his spear in one hit!?
- Impossible!
Huitzilopochtli looked bored at Achilles, and taking advantage of the position they both had at that precise moment, he moved his weapon again with a horizontal blow to cut the Greek in half.
Achilles was able to react in time; he moved his left hand, to drop his own shield and catch the spear point on the ground. He quickly took a step back, withdrawing his right fist and swinging his left arm:
Dodging the blow that Huitzilopochtli was going to make, the half-god used the spear to cut the chest of the deity. With a long and deep slash went all the way across his chest, a jet of blood flew out and Huitzilopochtli, because of the sudden shock, didn't make his own blow.
- Ehhh!? Achilles was nowhere near being sliced, but with a quick reflex he used what was left of his spear to slice through the God of War's chest! A crazy move!
Thor remained completely silent, while his mind reacted to that movement that he himself had suffered.
The Mesoamerican God staggered back a couple of steps away from his rival, while Achilles stood up fully and changed hands on the tip of the spear, then used his foot to lift the shield and place it back on his left side.
Taking a defensive position again, Achilles put his shield in front of him and looked at the Gods who was still impressed. Huitzilopochtli looked at the blood on his chest, and took a little of it with his hand to get a better look at it.
He casually tossed the liquid onto the floor, and for the first time his facial expression consciously changed: a grim smile at Achilles.
- Hehe... You're a good rival! - He exclaimed with amusement - Let's fight until we lose our blood, yes?!
Achilles was greatly surprised by this sudden change in attitude.
Moments later, Huitzilopochtli threw himself at Achilles using his weapon to attack consecutively, just as the half-god had done. Achilles could only hide behind his shield, which took all of the enemy's blasts.
- Things have changed! Huitzilopochtli now takes the initiative and corners his opponent, Achilles!
The god struck while the demigod was pressed almost to the limit. Zeus thought about what had happened a moment ago and commented curiously.
- So... he'll fight alone with a piece of spear...
- That's Achilles, right? - Ares commented - Besides, he's a half-god. If he wanted he'd only fight with his fists.
- No. You are not understanding - Hermes intervened - Zeus refers to Volund.
- Huh? The Valkyries' divine weapon skill?
And Zeus calmly began to explain.
- It seems you haven't noticed, but all the armor that Achilles is wearing are divine weapons. The spear, the shield... so must be his armor, helmet, maybe the cloak... Everything on him!
- But why is he wearing that? He doesn't need it.
- That doubt does not concern me at the moment. The one that interests me is... - Zeus shifted his gaze towards Geir's box - Which sister did dear Geir sacrifice? And... why doesn't she look worried about the spear being destroyed?
Achilles received the impact of Huitzilopochtli's weapon on his shield; taking advantage of that window, the half-god used his spear piece to hit the God's hand and cause it to drop the Xiauhcoatl from him.
The half-god changed the circumstances, and with the piece of spear now he dedicated himself to bombard the shield of the Mexica God. But nevertheless...
- This is not everything! - Achilles raised his shield and directed it at Huitzilopochtli's neck, taking advantage of an opening.
- Incredible! - Heimdall was barely keeping up - Achilles is about to decapitate his opponent!
Coatlicue was petrified in silence. But, Huitzilopochtli with his free hand, in a quick movement managed to grab Achilles' arm and stop his blow in its tracks. Achilles tried to use more of his strength to achieve his goal, but the strength with which he held his arm was much greater.
- Huitzilopochtli stopped Achilles' attack with one of his hands!
Achilles then kicked Huitzilopochtli's shield, where his leg could reach, managing to separate from the God.
Seeing the inadequacy of his "weapon", the half threw the piece to the ground and took one of the 2 swords he held at his waist, the larger one he had on his left side. He seized his weapon and launched himself at Huitzilopochtli again.
- That's what I mean - Zeus commented - Achilles doesn't despise life. But... he just abandoned a piece of Valkyrie to continue fighting.
- And, on the other hand - Hermes continued - The Volund is probably going through a very bad time, with the Valkyrie losing a part of her. Achilles couldn't keep fighting knowing and experiencing that.
Zeus thought again, and his mind lit up with a curious and obvious conclusion.
- The only solution is... all that weaponry is not the product of a Volund.
- Isn't that a Volund? - Ares was intrigued.
- According to Odin, there were 13 Valkyries capable of fighting in the past Ragnarok. I heard in this millennium 2 more emerged, and joining the 7 that won, we have a total of 9 Valkyries.
» It's a very bad idea to use the same strategy 2 times, so it would be bad if dear Geir decides to send his sisters to fight again. And, in that hypothetical case... She knows there are only 7 Valkyries and 13 fights. The only way to get it right will be to have 7 wins in a row, impossible this time.
» So, she'd have to send the same Valkyries at least 2 fights, and doing calculations it's very likely she still lacks sisters: if a sister doesn't die in her first fight, may in the second; and if one comes out alive from 2 matches, won't live long... It's impossible for her to keep up.
- Indeed - complemented Hermes, understanding the concept better - As if that weren't enough, not all Volunds meet what their fighter needs.
The only one not following the rhythm of the conversation was Ares.
- Wait a minute! So Achilles' armor isn't a Volund?
- ... Yes... - answered Hermes, snorting with disappointment - That's what we said a few moments ago.
- In that case... Couldn't that armor be the result of the Volund of... of the assassin of Hercules? - Those words cost him a lot to say.
Hermes and Zeus thought about the conclusion of the God of War.
- The Volund that can turn everything touches into a divine weapon... - Hermes smiled - A very intelligent possibility. Well thought, brother.
- Really!?
- Although... having the murderer of Hercules on the Elysian Fields doesn't seem to be the best idea in the world.
- That's why I prefer the second option... which seems to be more convenient for dear Geir and this second Ragnarok - Zeus shuddered just thinking about it - Someone made the armor for Achilles.
- What!? Did someone make divine armor and weapons for Achilles!? - Ares began to think about that option - And who could it be!? Not many blacksmiths exist who can make such armor, not counting Hephaestus.
- I think I might know who... or rather, who were... - commented Hermes - A couple of Norse names who created weapons, and those responsible for the great Asgardian walls.
- That's right Hermes... - Zeus took the last word - The famous dwarfs Brökk and Eitri.
- ... Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh!?
As her eyes were fixed on the battlefield, the purple-haired Valkyrie's mind recalled what had happened during the 3-hour hiatus the day before.
- Lady Geir? Can we come in?
- Huh?
That respectful way of talking about her surprised him a lot.
- C-Come in... - she turned to see who it was, and her eyes immediately filled with astonishment - You all are...!
- Hi, lady Geir. We haven't seen each other for a long time.
The pair of dwarves, better known as blacksmiths in Asgardian lands, entered the Valkyrie's room: Brokk and Eitri. Their presence brought joy back to the girl's worried face.
- Brokk and Eitri!
The Valkyrie rose from her chair and confidently hugged the newly arrived dwarves.
- I'm so glad to see you again!
- Us too, lady Geir.
- We'd have liked to have come earlier, but we're very busy with Odin-sama's last commissions... - explained Brökk (with a larger amount of beard) while both dwarfs separated from the Valkyrie - We greet you, and also... We take advantage to offer our condolences.
- We heard what happened to her older sister, Brunhilde, and her Valkyrie sisters in Ragnarok. -continued Eitri (with lighter and longer hair than his brother) - We both give our condolences to you, the Valkyries that... remained.
- Guys... - Geir felt very nostalgic with those words - D-Don't worry about that.
- Of course we should. We've stopped contacting Valhalla after your first millennium, lady Geir, and now we've come half of your sisters were killed by the Gods.
- It... just happened a long time ago... - she answered lightly, directing his gaze to the list of Akashic Records.
- My brother and I brought you gifts in compensation for this fault we've done... and, we'd like to do it right now, but we have another duty.
- Another duty?
- That is why we are here - explained Eitri - Lord Thor called us to perform maintenance on Asgard's walls. I remember there were plans in Valhalla, plus he summoned us to meet him here. I don't really understand why he wants it, but...
- Orders of the Gods are orders of the Gods - concluded Brökk heavily - I'd like to be in your position, so wedon't have to make these orders all the time.
- Guys...
-We'd like to see... if you can gather your sisters, when we finish our work, so we can give them their gifts.
- Thanks, and... I'll talk to them in a couple of hours... - Then, her mind remembered an important fact - By the way! In the building on the fifth platform are the plans. We accommodate them there to have better organization.
- Oh! Thank you very much for that! I thought they'd still be in this building.
- Would have taken forever to find them.
The dwarfs laughed a bit and then they said goodbye to the Valkyrie.
- Lady Geir. We go to retire.
- Thank you very much for... your visit... - Geir spoke lightly, watching the dwarfs leave the room.
The Valkyrie was left alone again. Although the conversation had been very quick and direct, the girl had felt some warmth and inspiration she needed to continue with her work.
And, an idea to fix her recent problem popped into her head. With his mind clear, Geir stormed out of the room and ran towards the 2 dwarfs not far away.
- Brokk! Eitri!
- Huh? Lady Geir!
- Is something wrong?
They both stopped walking as soon as they heard her. The Valkyrie reached them and took them by the shoulders.
- In fact... - she took a deep breath to recover the little breath she lost - I need your help. I'll tell you the details in a few moments, but first answer me... Could you make me thirteen divine weapons?
- ...Huh?
At the efficiency she could see in the shield and sword Achilles held to fight, Geir smiled to herself.
- Thank you, Brokk and Eitri... With you, we'll be able to fight against the Gods, at the same time I protect my sisters and Brunhilde's legacy...
As Thor gave his full attention to the fight, Forseti next to him commented in surprise.
- It's amazijg this half-god is at the height of the southern hummingbird. I've read a lot about him and is very terrifying... He killed 400 Gods with his weapon! But now a half-god corners him against the ropes!
Thor took a deep breath before answering.
- That human is not alone.
- Do you mean his Volund, Lord Thor? Well, it's something I've also wondered; is capable of fighting a very resistant Volund. Spear shattered and shield crushed, he still puts up a fight.
- That human doesn't have a Volund - declared Thor seriously - Those divine weapons were made by Brokk and Eitri.
- What!? The dwarf blacksmiths!? Have those 2 betrayed us!?
- No. I talked to them about doing remodeling on Asgard's walls, but... Geir found them before me, and convinced them to arm the humans who will fight in Ragnarok.
- B-But why do you able to leave them!?
- They aren't my property. They're dwarfs who serve the Gods, but not our slaves - He said with unreal calm - I allowed it to know if with that support Geir will be able to defeat the new Gods that represent us... like Mesoamerica's terror...
- Achilles doesn't stop his attacks! He keeps swinging his sword at his opponent's shield!
The constant pounding of Achilles caused Huitzilopochtli to have to back down from time to time. However, the direction the God backed away was a surprise to Heimdall.
- No! He's not backing down because of his rival! He backs up to retrieve the weapon from him!
After a constant "walk", Huitzilopochtli was less than a meter from his Xiauhcóatl lying on the ground. Achilles quickly caught on.
- I won't let you! - He struck out at him harder, cracking the material of the God's shield.
- I don't think so, half-god...
Huitzilopochtli dropped to the ground, so that with his right leg he made a quick movement to throw Achilles. He cried out in pain in response and fell to the ground, giving Huitzilopochtli enough time to get up again and run for his weapon.
And once he had it in his hands, he loosened the straps that held his shield to his left arm and dropped his defense to the ground. Heimdall's eyes widened immediately.
- H-Huitzilopochtli has dropped his shield! This God wants to fight against the Greek hero with only his hands and weapon!
Huitzilopochtli smirked and looked at Achilles.
- Come to me, half-god... Show me humans deserve this second chance.
Achilles slowly sat up, and after a deep breath exclaimed his answer.
- As you wish!
Both ran against each other, and immediately engaged in an exchange of blows:
Achilles would cover himself with his shield, and as soon as his opponent was careless he would try to cut him; Huitzilopochtli hit the shield of his rival with the edge of his weapon, trying to destroy his defense and land a serious blow on the warrior.
From time to time, Achilles managed to superficially cut Huitzilopochtli's bare arm, which he used as a shield; however, the damage was nothing major.
- Huitzilopochtli without armor or shield, against Achilles who has all the weapons! Even so, the difference between the two is practically nil!
At one point, Huitzilopochtli struck Achilles's sword arm in a way that knocked the hero off balance and lost the rhythm of the fight.
With a new opening, the God aimed the point of his weapon at Achilles's stomach using all his strength. The half-god saw what was going to happen, but his position prevented him from defending:
The tip of the weapon crashed down with a heavy blow, piercing through the armor, enough to take significant damage to Achilles' stomach and causing the hero to feel great pain and spit blood.
He fell to the ground in a sitting position, while he touched his abdomen with his hand to stop the bleeding that was beginning to arise.
- H-Huitzilopochtli has hit! Huitzilopochtli's weapon pierced Achilles' armor, and has damaged his stomach!
The Trojans were very interested; sadly, Geir's earlier encouragement was lost entirely with that scenario.
- Argh...
Huitzilopochtli, without waiting for another response from the hero, took the handle in his hands and directed his weapon at Achilles' neck.
In a move that left him even more sore, Achilles raised his shield arm and parried the attack; with his free hand, he took some of his blood and splashed it on Huitzilopochtli's face, which was enough to distract him.
His attention diverted from him, Achilles grasped the hilt of his sword and lunged at the God to pierce through its bare chest.
- Son! - Coatlicue was the one who managed to see all the movements in the midst of the speed of the rivals.
Reaching to hear the cry of his mother, the deity took a few steps back and with which Achilles' weapon didn't do a huge damage to his chest, but it did manage to deal a second cut that formed an ×.
Huitzilopochtli wiped the blood from his face, and clearly saw the second wound that the human had inflicted on him.
- I thought there would be no human or God capable of facing me... - Huitzilopochtli commented, using his free hand to remove the blood from his new wound - But, I have found something better. A half-god who can keep up with me... Too bad you'll die.
- Don't be so confident... - Achilles spoke, taking the edge of his mantle - I still have a lot to give.
He cut a piece of his cloak and wrapped it around his entire abdomen to cover and wrap the wound on his stomach. Again he took the shield from him, steadied the sword in his hand, and returned to take a defensive position in front of the God.
- On guard. "Blessed God of War"...
