Hi all, I kinda disappeared into the void for a bit because I was dying from final exams, and I don't think I passed my classes (I need a 70% or above because that's what my major requires) BUT I did pass both of my labs so there's that!! So basically next semester will be the same as this one but without the labs. Hopefully I will do better bc I'm dying :)

Anyways, INTO THE MUSIC.

This first one is for my personal Spotify account. This is different from my Wattpad account.

1. My movie sounds like a coming-of-age indie film based on these opening credits and I think that's great. This song matches my vibes well!

2. THIS SONG IS GREAT TO BE DEFEATING AN ANCIENT VENGEFUL SPIRIT WITH. I love screaming the lyrics.

3. LIZZOOOOOOO this one is a bop and I'm pleased.

Honestly disappointed that I didn't get the "song that plays as a single tear drops into the water" or whatever slide but it's probably because the music I listened to wasn't that sad.

Oop yep. I predicted this one based on how often I was listening to music during 4 hour car rides, overnight, while studying, driving, etc. This is the most minutes I've listened to thus far in my Spotify wrapped journey since 2016.

????? THIS WAS SO CONFUSING ??? This song was on my "current faves" playlist in JUNE. I clean that playlist out whenever I get sick of the songs (so I remove songs all the time) and I did not expect this result. I had a list of predictions for my top songs of the year and this did NOT make the cut at all.

"Bold" is interesting. "Kindness"? Yes.

I listened to 139 genres and these were the top ones. "S&M" by Rihanna was playing as this slide came up and I think that's an important fact for you to know. Also this design is so ugly that it made me gag when I saw it and my graphic designer mother's ashes are mixing in their box.

HAHA YEAH. And the cutoff for Spotify Wrapped was Halloween, so the number would've been even greater if they took more time. I LOVE this podcast so much and have listened to every episode. 10/10 recommend if you like true crime. It covers murders, conspiracies, caught criminals, missing persons, mysterious deaths, etc.

Apparently I listened to 1,881 artists this year (WOWZA) but 5sos was my top artist for the second year in a row. Honestly, not shocked, though I did go down from being in the top 0.05% to the top 1%😔 I was slacking.

Top artist commentary:

1. 5sos: You already know. Expected.

2. ATL: Also expected. They've disappointed me with the recent allegations but I listened to them a LOT because their music is in like every single one of my playlists.

3. Taylor Swift: YES. EXPECTED. Her music is also in a lot of my playlists so she's almost always on. I mostly listen to her old albums but her Taylor's Version albums also secured her position on my list.

4. Bastille: I literally never get sick of their music. I must've listened to their entire discography three times this year because it's just *chef's kiss* and every song they've released is a banger.

5. Zayn: EXPECTED. STREAM HIS ALBUM NOBODY IS LISTENING!!!

Honestly if you look back at my 2020 Wrapped chapter, you'll see that this was essentially my same top artists but in a different order.

Song commentary:

1. I've already ranted. I'm still confused.

2. "Dream House" by COIN: This is also confusing because I only recently started listening to COIN's music and to have them on here is just bizarre. This is another song that was on my current faves playlist for what felt like a short time so it must've just come on shuffle a lot? I don't even think I know all of the words to the song. Or half of them.

3. "Stargazing" by The Neighbourhood: Unexpected but at least it's by a band I listen to kind of a lot.

4. "Summer Rain" by Good Boy Daisy: This is a feel-good song and I LOVE its vibes. It's another song that must have come on shuffle a lot.

5. "I DON'T WANT 2 BE UR FRIEND" by Devon: Really unexpected. This song is a bop but again, it's not something I feel like I listened to regularly enough to reach the top of my list.

Overall, the songs AFTER my top 5 on my Top Songs 2021 playlist made more sense to me than my actual top 5. It feels like they got mixed up. Also, notice how none of the songs are by my top 5 artists???

Honestly I expected this to be a bit higher because I listened to music on this account a lot. But this makes my total minutes listened around 70k so that's cool!!

This is definitely because of the mix of my personal music on there and then my playlists for my books. The "powerful" is probably due to the book playlists because that's the general vibe for them, whereas my own music can be described as "wistful".

"5 times" HAHAHAHA. This song is on my playlist for "Embers", which I did listen to often this year because I managed to update it a few times (go me!).

Excuse me but WHAT is "Metropopolis". The word makes me want to commit a crime and I'm not sure why. Also the lo-fi beats is definitely from my study/chill playlists that I listen to pretty often!

Ah yes, another one of my top artists from my other account, just with the order shuffled.

Some of these I've already talked about, so I'm just going to address the ones I haven't.

Top artists:

2. Hozier: I listened to his music while writing as well because he just gets me so focused and in the zone. Also Sprinkles (my cat) actually likes his music too LMAO.

5. Halsey: Her music is in a lot of my playlists as well, so this makes sense. Her new album is SO good!!

Songs:

2. "Young God" by Halsey: This one is on a few of my playlists and even though it's from her first album, it's still one of my favorites. I've mostly grown out of the way her voice sounded back then, but some songs from Badlands will always stick with me, and that's one of them!

3. "Emperor's New Clothes" by Panic! at the Disco: This is on the playlist for "Fireheart" part 1 and it's just. So good. It gets me so hype and it's perfect for Ares, so I definitely listened to it a lot, along with the entire playlist from when I was updating it. Hopefully I can do that again soon,,,

4. "Flames" by R3HAB and Zayn: Another song from the "Fireheart" playlist HAHAHA but this one is SOO good and so underrated. It's different from Zayn's usual music but it's so cool and I love it.

5. "Monster" by X Ambassadors: They're another band who's been releasing nothing but fantastic music lately. I listened to this one on repeat on both accounts because not only is it great for playlists, it's just a phenomenal song in general. If they're releasing a new album soon, I'm sure it's going to be GREAT.

For anyone curious, these were my predictions (along with the date so you can see that I didn't cheat). I got all of the artists, but the songs??? NOPE

(I know I said I only recently started listening to COIN when I talked about their song being in my top 5, but I included them in the list because I listened to their whole discography while looking for new songs I liked.)
