25 | bookshelf tour

First of all, I saw RElDSWH0RE's bookshelf tour and was inspired to do my own🥰🥰 My bookshelf isn't really a typical "bookshelf," it's actually one of those square-shaped things with smaller squares that you're supposed to put little felt drawers in— I would include a full photo of mine but I can't. Here's what I mean though:

So yeah, that's what I use. And guess what?? IT'S NOT BIG ENOUGH. I have to keep some books stacked in front because not all of them fit. And that's with some of them in my nightstand.

The furniture in my bedroom is literally from when I moved out of my nursery into a "big girl room" in 2005-2006. My parents have not changed it even though we moved houses in 2013 and it no longer fits properly in my room🙃 Anyways so the nightstand has this mini bookshelf thingy under it, so I put my recent reads in there for easy access.

In total, I have 117 books if I counted correctly. Keep in mind that some of these are gifts and many I've had since middle school. I've also gotten MANY Barnes & Noble gift cards throughout my years which allowed me to get more books. And the others I've bought myself! Not to mention I had to read a LOT during high school for my English classes, so those add up.

NIGHTSTAND

Stacked in front I have the Garfield movie (which I got from a Secret Santa at college in 2019), A Sky Beyond the Storm (book #4 in An Ember in the Ashes), A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood (which actually just came in today!), Zayn's autobiography, The Diviners, and The Hate U Give. The last two are my current reads at the moment!! And Zayn's book is always on my nightstand because I sometimes like to look at it bc ✨preti man✨

In the actual shelf, the small paperbacks on the side are books I needed for school and borrowed from my aunt. They're ones like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (BLEGH), The Catcher in the Rye (BLEEGGHH), and Lord of the Flies. I read those during my first two years of high school for English class and have yet to give them back to her... oops.

Anyways, next is a few Harry Potter books from my recent re-read, Aristotle & Dante, King of Scars, Prodigy (book #2 of Legend... did not finish bc I hated it), Lair of Dreams (book #2 of The Diviners), and The Things They Carried (English class book from last semester).

Now onto the actual ~*shelf*~ which isn't even in my room. My room is way too small to even fit the cube thing so it's in our spare room and surrounded by clutter (which is why I can't show the whole thing). It's organized alphabetically by the author's last name because if your bookshelf isn't organized... who are you????

CUBE #1

First off, we have a book that was a gift from a family member and tbh I've never read it so it just sits there. Then Six of Crows, Fahrenheit 451, The One (book #3 of The Selection bc I had the first two on my kindle), and *deeeeeep sigh* the start of the Casserole Clam books. Again I don't have a physical copy of book #1 because it was on my kindle.

CUBE #2

These books make me so angry. THEY'RE HUGE. THEY TAKE UP SO MUCH SPACE. Also, the funny thing is that, when I was reading the original series, they started switching the covers when I was in the MIDDLE OF IT so I had to RACE against time so my covers wouldn't be different. Hence why my TID trilogy books are the new covers.

CUBE #3

I HATE that LOS doesn't fit with the other Clam books. Next is THG but only the first two books because tbh I stole them from my 7th grade teacher's bookshelf. Don't tell her. Then the TMR books, but not #1 because that's also on my kindle. Next is Wicked Saints which was a WASTE of $19 because I couldn't get past page 100, it was so terrible. Then there's The Great Gatsby because I like to pretend to be cultured and John Green as a reminder I'm not. To be fair, I got those in middle school. I was a fan before the TFIOS movie came out.

CUBE #4

Now I've got the To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy, THE OUTSIDERS (read it like 4 times), and ok. KHALED HOSSEINI. FÛCK. A Thousand Splendid Suns was the first school book I read and actually enjoyed. It made me bawl my eyes out. I got to choose my summer reading book for AP Literature in 12th grade and I chose The Kite Runner by him because I loved ATSS so much. If you haven't heard of him, look those books up. Then I have a Phantom of the Opera book ??? Idk. And The Young Elites but I won't be finishing the series bc my favorite character died in book 1. Then my ACOTAR books because 🥴🥴 Oh yeah, Legend is in front.

CUBE #5

I have the next 2 books from ACOTAR (still have yet to get ACOSF), and Cinder which is beat up because I've had it since middle school, but only finished the series in 2019, which is why the rest of the series is stacked in front. The 100 is something I got because I loved the show but tbh the book was boring. Dorothy Must Die is a series that NOBODY HAS HEARD OF but it was a fun, whacky, wild series I read in 7th grade. Finally, my Riordanverse collection begins. I don't have The Lightning Thief because I borrowed it from my school's library when I was like 10. And I swear I had The Titan's Curse but I guess not?

Notice how TLO is all torn and creased and shit. My guy friend borrowed it in 8th grade and one of his friends drop-kicked it down the hallway because he thought it was my friend's. Then he found out it was mine and the blood visibly drained from his face and I almost beat him up :)

CUBE #6

I don't have the entire HOO series because I got TLH, borrowed the next two from my friend, then stole HOH from my 7th grade teacher (Mrs. Cunha I'm sorry) BUT IT WASN'T ON PURPOSE I JUST FORGOT I HAD IT. But I bought BOO the day it came out and I hated it. I still got THO because my friend said it was good and then I hated it. Next I have a random, half-destroyed copy of POA that I have no idea how I acquired. I borrowed the HP series from my cousin the first time I read it in middle school, so I thought it was hers, but it's NOT ??? so I just have that random book with the cover falling off. Next I have my actual paperback copy and TTOBTB, which was a gift. My friend has the rest of my HP books that aren't in my nightstand. I basically got the first 3 from a secondhand shop and asked for the rest from different family members for Christmas, thus leading to me having the whole set😌

CUBE #7

My Stiefvater collection is going to take up a whole cube one day but that's okay because TRC deserves it. AEITA was a gift from my friend, which is why it's the old cover. That series is great but book #3 is SAD and a doozy

CUBE #7

There's actually room for me to shove A Sky Beyond the Storm after A Reaper at the Gates, but I plan on getting rid of a ton of books and redoing my whole shelf anyway, so there's no point in doing that now. The Spectacular Now is a book I also bought in middle school and have been meaning to re-read. THE HOBBIT!!! A personal favorite I've read twice and I love the copy I have because it's textured and ✨shiny✨. The Martian is actually AMAZING but don't accidentally get the student version like I did because it censors all of the swear words and funny parts😔 Then I have The 5th Wave... which I will not be re-reading because TLS killed me in 9th grade and I have yet to recover. Last is a writing help book from my university that I blocked out because I don't want y'all knowing the name of my university.

CUBE #9

Behold... the required reading books from 4 years of the Honors English track in high school and 1 semester of Modern Literature in college. My Antonia would NOT fit so it just sits there. These are all of the books I don't want to re-read, but I might go through them and keep some like Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray to, again, look ~*Cultured*~ and stuff. Otherwise I wouldn't touch these with a 79 and a half foot pole😌 Plus this isn't even all of the books I read in high school since I kept some of the ones I liked such as Gatsby & Hosseini's books in my actual bookshelf. Damn I read a lot in those 4 years (AND BOOKS FOR ENJOYMENT ON TOP OF THOSE?? HOW DID I HAVE THE TIME??)

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that. In case anyone is interested, here's a list of the books I'm planning on getting rid of:

—The entirety of my Casserole Clam book collection
—That random Separated at Birth book I got as a gift
—The One. Love you Maxon Schreave but I can't even read the first two anymore so what's the point?
—Wicked Saints🤢
—The Young Elites. Sorry but I can't get over that one character's death.
—Legend & Prodigy. That series was just not for me. Guess Marie Lu isn't my favorite author sorry homie
—The 100
—The Dorothy Must Die series
—The random POA copy I have that I have no idea how I came in possession of
—The 5th wave series... sorry Rick Yancey but I won't be re-reading
—ALL OF THOSE REQUIRED READING BOOKS LIKE GOD. WHY.

Hopefully, I will then have enough room to actually fit my books inside of the shelf. It gets rid of about 50 books depending on how many of those required reading ones I end up getting rid of.

Hope you enjoyed me rambling about my books😌✨💗 Ok bye
