It had been too long...

Rhojeka had been on the road for so long, she never even thought about the possibility. A romantic relationship? That was something she sung and told stories about - not something she would even consider for herself, in real life.

And how would that work? Even if her quest ever found its end, and she would live to tell about it? She would still travel, make her living as a bard, maybe do some good with her magic powers. So whoever her partner would be, he would have to travel with her all the way, or wait at some place she'd probably never call home and hope for her to come back some day.

But if he travelled with her... She shuddered as she thought about all the dangers she frequently faced, all the monsters and bandits that she had to fend off. Not that she wasn't doing her part... That wasn't the issue. If she ever were to be with somebody, that somebody would give her room to fight for herself, or at least to contribute instead of just being the fair maiden to constantly be rescued.

And because of that, that said partner would have to rely on her as well - to trust her to keep him out of trouble in her own way. Basically... a partner that would see eye to eye with her.

Someone who would dare to call her out when she behaved foolishly, but someone who also understood her. Someone with a pure heart, a sense of duty and honor - a knight in spirit, maybe, who would just know right from wrong without thinking too much about it...

She turned around and looked at her companion Mervella...
