Showdown Bandit x Saloon!Reader

_______________
It was just like any other day in showdown valley, the saloon was full as usual. You sighed and rolled up your sleeves more, being careful with your strings, since you didn't want them to fall into the drinks you were giving out. You knew what happened last time, and you got the chip on your cheek and arm to prove it. You went to help another patron, he looked awfully drunk. Saloon bartenders say that if you look too sick to your stomach, you should probably head on home.

"Partner, you look too sick to be drinking more,"

"Give me more beer damn it!"

"Sir I need you to le-"

You couldn't finish your sentence as the patron stood up and grabbed you by your collar. You gulped as everything in the saloon went silent, and all that was heard was the doors open and close. You felt sweat go down the side of your head as the man berated you. Telling you how awful of a bartender you were to be telling him what he can't drink like you were his mother. You tried not to puke as you practically ate his alcohol scented breath.

"Someone oughta teach you some manners,"

He then began to raise a hand, knife in tow, presumably going for your strings.Your eyes widened and you began to struggle before hoping that your strings suddenly turn to steel.

Nothing happened.

You opened your eyes and looked at the man as he tried to bring his hand forward, but nothing.

"The one who needs to be taught manners, is you,"

You felt the man let go of your collar and watched as he turned to fight the next person. You silently gasped, it was the showdown bandit. The man seemed to freeze, but it was hard to tell as he was slowly swaying. Bandit stared at the man, still holding his wrist.

"It's not nice to be treating bartenders like this, now get!"

Without hesitation the patron quickly walked out the saloon and everything wasn't silent anymore. You sarcastically thanked each bar member in your head for not helping. Bandit picked up the man's wallet, which he forgot, and give half the money inside to you.

"For your troubles, I'll take a whiskey,"

"Thanks and coming right up,"

You took the money and stowed it away in your small dress pocket before turning and grabbing the whiskey on the shelf. You poured it into a glass and handed the bandit his drink. You then grabbed the dirty mugs off the table and started to clean them out. You noticed out the side of your eye the bandit was subtlety watching you. For what reason? You could not tell.

"What's with the chips in your wood?"

You hesitated before giving him an answer.

"Fell down the stairs at home, nothing to it,"

That was the most wonderfully crafted lie in all the west. The bandit shook his head as he took a sip of whiskey.

"I don't buy it, what happened?"

You sighed, shrugging.

"Patron tried to follow me home because my sleeve accidentally got in his drink. I was able to get 'em off me, but ended up with the chips and a broken string that the Doc fixed up. Rather have that than whatever they would've done to me,"

Bandit nodded before glaring at his glass. You simply put the clean mugs back on the shelf. You took the towel on your shoulder and wiped down the counter. The joys of work.

"I'm walkin' ya home tonight,"

You stopped.

"Pardon?"

"You heard me,"

"Why,"

"..."

Bandit stayed silent and responded with a sip of his whiskey. You moved your focus back onto cleaning the counter. After that was done you watched the patrons smiling and laughing with one another. You found yourself smiling and poured yourself a small container of Cola (no this doesn't have drugs in it -_-).

"So what brings you to the Saloon, haven't see ya come around these parts,"

"I do sometimes, but stay in the corner, so I don't blame ya,"

You nodded and did a quick check on your strings before taking another sip of cola. You excused yourself and began making your rounds around the saloon. You do this 30 minutes before closing so there ain't much else to do when it is closing time. After biding your time keeping everything clean, you noticed the bandit's empty seat. You shrugged it off as you carried off a couple mugs to the water buckets. You almost dropped the mugs in surprise as the bandit was hauling in new water from the well.

"Bandit..?"

Your question startled him as he set the water buckets down. He blushed slightly and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Sorry, thought you could use the extra help...."

He trailed off as he realized he didn't know your name.

"(Y/N), sorry I didn't introduce myself sooner."

He nodded and grabbed the mugs from you before starting to wash them.

"Oh you don't have to-"

"I got this, you get the rest"

You sighed quietly knowing the stubborn vigilante won't give up. You walked out of the back room and began ushering the remaining patrons out. Thinking all the patrons were out you began to scrub down the tables. You were whistling a small tune before a shadow loomed over you. You thought nothing of it, thinking it was just Bandit telling you he was done. You turned around.

"Hey Ba-"

You were cut short by two arms blocking your exit from both sides. You looked up shocked, only to find another drunk patron. You internally groaned and complained about having to deal with another drunken man.

"Hey there sweetheart, why is a pretty little thing like you here all alone?"

His breathe was even stronger than the other mans, and it wasn't helping that his face was getting even closer. You immediately began to push away.

"Sir, I need to you get off of me, you're drunk out of your mind."

"Cmon sweetheart, just a little fun."

You put your arms in front of you and kept trying to push him away. He growled and went to grab your shoulder. He was stopped however, when another hand whirled him around.

"Bandit!"

You smiled, you were saved. Bandit, having enough of all the drunken patrons today, punched the patron and just like that, he went out cold. Before you could say a thank you, the bandit grabbed the man's strings and threw him out the doors. After dusting himself off Bandit sparked a question.

"Is it always like this with you?"

You scratched your neck and chuckled slightly.

"Not really."

Bandit shook his head and chuckled himself before tipping his hat up.

"Looks like I'll have to come around more often."

You shrugged sheepishly and continued to clean the tables.

"I just have to clean the rest of these and put the drinks in order. Make yourself comfortable."

Bandit nodded before going out of your sight. You smiled to yourself and thought about today. Maybe the Showdown Bandit wasn't so bad like everyone usually said. You were surprised no one called the sheriff when Bandit was exposed like he was. You guessed that everyone just wanted a show to go down or wanted to mind their business for once.

"How do you usually sort the drinks?"

You were forced out of your thoughts and looked towards Bandit's voice. Of course he was going to help you.

"Uhhh...alphabetically or by date is fine by me."

Bandit nodded and began sorting. You shook your head playfully before continuing to finish the last of the tables. After the both of you finished, you turned out the candles at each of the tables and grabbed your coat. You looked at Bandit.

"I'm ready if you are."

Bandit nodded and motioned you to lead the way. You two began the trek to the other side of the town, where your home resided.

"Thank you, for everything you did for me today. You didn't have to help with the chores. You could've told me to hurry up if that was the case."

You chuckled nervously and messed with your hands. Bandit shook his head, looking out for any trouble the two of you might encounter.

"I didn't mind, I didn't want you doing it by yourself. I also didn't want anything to happen to ya."

You tilted your head.

"May I ask why?"

You thought he blushed, but you shrugged it off to your mind playing tricks on you.

"N-no reason."

"Did you just stutter?"

You had to giggle as you saw his face darken.

"N-no!"

"Haha!"

"Quiet you!"

You stifled your laughter into giggles and grabbed his hat before placing it upon your head. Bandit looked at you in surprise and blushed more before turning his head quickly. You felt weird walking without pockets to put your hands in. Every since you were younger your pops/ma would hold your hand and you had gotten used to it. Biting back embarrassment you asked him.

"Bandit?"

"Hm?"

"Can I hold onto your arm? It's a thing I got from when i was younger, i feel anxious without having something to hold or putting my hands in pockets."

You couldn't see his face, but you heard a small chuckle.

"Alright, if you're that scared you have to make a lie up."

You faked a gasp and put your hand over your heart.

"Why I never!"

You giggled as Bandit held his arm out to you.

"M'lady."

"What a gentleman."

You both burst into quiet giggles as you took his arm. You both blushed, neither of you knowing the other was, and continued to walk in silence. At least for a short while.

"Can I keep your hat?"

"No."

"Awww..."

He breathed out a laugh at your childishness at the moment as you stopped at your house.

"This is it, thank you for everything today."

You made a motion to grab some money out of your small dress pocket.

"Here, for your work."

Bandit grabbed your hand and moved it closer to you.

"Keep it, spending time with you was enough."

You blushed and smiled. You then reached for the hat before he stopped you again.

"Keep that too, looks better on you than it ever did on me"

He blushed again as scratched the back of his neck. You giggled and nodded before getting on your tippy toes and kissing his cheek.

"Bye Bandit!"

You made your way to the door and turned to wave. Bandit was standing there holding the spot where you kissed him with his hand, his face redder than the red circles on his cheeks. You giggled and waved, he seemed to snap out of it and waved back. You opened your door and closed it after making it inside, you pressed your back against it and smiled. Even though today was bit weird, it did have a great ending.

"YEEEE HAW!!!"

And you definitely were excited about going to work tomorrow.
