Showdown Bandit X Damsel In Destress! Reader

Requested by : no one
(D/N) : Dog Name
______________
It was just like any other day, you were strolling around the market place getting groceries. Your pup ,(D/N), close at your heels. You picked out some fresh apples and chicken feed for your small chicken farm near your house. You expected the normal things of the day, market, home, chicken farm, play with (D/N), and that's all you had so far in your mental list. What you didn't expect was to be grabbed by the waist and dropping your items in hand. From there you were tied up and seated behind something, or rather, someone. At the same time, the bank was robbed by the Showdown Bandit. Bandit came running outside, money bag in hand. He was about to book it for one of his hideouts hidden around Showdown Valley when he noticed something. (D/N) was trying their dang hardest to buy you time to escape by biting the man's pant leg and dragging him off the horse. That's when Bandit noticed you, tied up and struggling to get out. It took a moment before it clicked in his head that a kidnapping was going on.  He was a little too late however as the man kicked away (D/N) before jumping on his horse and riding off. Bandit quickly scrambled around to find a horse, dropping the money bag as it was no longer important. Hey, he might be a bandit, but he still has a heart of gold. He finally found a horse tied up outside a Saloon and quickly untied it before hopping on.

"He ya!"

He whipped the reins and kicked the horse's side a bit. The horse neighed and began to run. Bandit called out to (D/N).

"C'mere boy/girl! Lets go get your owner back!"

(D/N) barked and followed beside the horse. It wasn't long before the three came across the man and you. You were kicking and trying to yell through the cloth around your mouth with all your might before the man swatted your head to shut you up. Bandit and (D/N) both growled at his action. (D/N) rushed towards the horse before managing to clamp their jaws on one of the horses legs.

"Ya damn varmint!"

The man shouted as the horse neighed and fell over. Screaming through the cloth, you were tossed into the air (A/N: magic) and Bandit quickly caught you. He pulled the horse to a stop and got off to untie you. You managed to finally get that cloth off your mouth and breathlessly told the Showdown Bandit thank you.

"It was nothin', just didn't want to stand by and watch you get taken away."

Bandit began to untie your hands when a shot fired and hit the wood on his side. You screamed as Bandit fell to his knee.

"This is what happens when you get in my way kid."

The man sneered as he began to reel back his bullet. You hopped off the horse quickly as the man pointed the shooter at you.

"No sudden movements lassie, I don't want to deliver damaged goods."

You froze, not knowing what to do. That's when you saw something moving from behind the man. In a flash (D/N) tackled him and sent his shooter flying in the air. You hopped towards it quickly and managed to catch it. Just as the man raised his fist to knock (D/N) out cold, you fired. Striking him right in the chest, you watched in terror as he was pulled up. You closed your eyes, not daring to break the last rule known in town. Don't look up. You looked at the shooter in your hands before quickly dropping it. (D/N) chewed the rope around your wrists off and you quickly untied your legs. You heard Bandit groan as he slowly got up.

"C'mere, lets get you to the Doc, you're probably going to have a mighty fine chip in your wood."

Bandit chuckled and shrugged.

"Probably, that was some good shooting though. Ya ever held a gun before?"

You shook your head as you hauled Bandit on the horse he "borrowed". You got on next and felt arms snake around your waist. You blushed and hit the horse's side gently to get it to trot. (D/N) followed next to the horse, tail wagging. Bandit tried to keep his head up, not wanting to make you anymore uncomfortable than he thought you felt with his arms around your waist so he doesn't fall off the horse. He felt the pain in his head get bigger and groaned silently.

"You can lean your head against me if ya want, I don't mind, just don't want you suffering anymore pain because of me."

"Thank ya kindly..."

Bandit leaned his head on you, his hat tilted slightly. He looked off into the desert that surrounded the valley.

"Thank you, again, for saving me. I know I already said it, but I just feel like I need to do it more. I mean you did get chipped."

Bandit chuckled and smiled as you went on, like those cheesy books in the library he used to read when he was younger, your voice soothed the pain he felt and his wooden heart was beating just a bit faster.

"What's it like being a bandit?"

He snapped out of his mini daze.

"It's pretty good if I'm being honest, don't have to follow any rules, but my own. It's pretty fun to feel the adrenaline run through my wood whenever that sheriff is chasing me down."

You frowned.

"Doesn't it get lonely though?"

Bandit froze, he was never asked that question before, well to be fair no one has ever asked him anything about himself before.

"Well, yeah, sometimes, but Miss Undertaker checks in on me from time to time and makes me do errands for her sometimes. More of a mother figure really."

You nodded.

"Well now you have Miss Undertaker and me to take care of you."

You giggled slightly. Bandit blushed a bit and tried to sit up straight.

"Nope bad idea, nope."

He was hit with immediate pain in his side and leaned back against you.

"Stupid."

He glared at nothing and shrugged.

"I wasn't the one who got kidnapped."

"But you were the one who ended up getting saved."

Bandit blushed more and scoffed, knowing you were right. He looked down at (D/N), who was just stared at him with a 'the heck you want' look. Bandit rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out at the pooch.

"We're here!"

You said enthusiastically and slid off the side of the horse before helping Bandit off. After a painful minute, Bandit was off the horse with his arm around your shoulders as you helped him walk up the porch stairs and into the small building. Doc was in his front desk, click clacking away on his typewriter. His head perked up as he noticed you, but his look of surprise turned into despair as he saw Bandit. He sighed and got up.

"Another day another Bandit..."

You looked at him confused while Bandit just smiled sheepishly and did his best to shrug. Doc motioned for the two of you to follow. You followed him into the room where he gestured you to lay Bandit down on one of the cots. You helped Bandit lay down and sat in the chair next to the bed. Doc grabbed a morphine infused syrup (a/n: had to think of an alternative for injection cuz you know...wood...) and gave it to Bandit to drink. Bandit shook his head.

"Don't wanna get addicted to that stuff."

Doc rolled his eyes and muttered something along the lines of "stubborn bandits" before sighing.

"Lady/Partner (Y/N) I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room momentarily. I don't think the author wants to find more alternate ways to fix up marionettes." (A/N: .w. Thanks doc)

You looked at Doc weirdly before nodding. Bandit gave you a look that hoped you wouldn't.

"Alright, I have to go check on (D/N) and return the horse anyways. When will you be done?"

"Give or take when your shadow is in the North."

"Thanks Doc."

He nodded and you waved to Bandit as he gulped when he saw the tools Doc was bringing out. You thought to yourself how could Bandit be afraid of the doctors when he just got shot in the side. You walked out of the room and then the building before grabbing the horse's reins.

"Alright, lets go find your owner, cmon (D/N)."

(D/N) yipped and went a bit ahead while you guided the horse to back to the market place.

"Excalibur!? Where are ya lass?!"

The horse, presumably called Excalibur, neighed loudly and began to excitedly trot in place. It wasn't long till a boy came running along, tears in his eyes.

"Excalibur! There you are, I was looking all over for you! Thank you so much partner! I was afraid I'd never see her again!"

The boy spoke through tears as he embraced the horse. You scratched the back of your neck.

"Well ya see, the Showdown Bandit actually took your horse when I got mixed up in a kidnapping, sorry about that."

You chuckled nervously, hoping the boy wouldn't get mad. Quite the opposite really.

"That's so cool! Girl, is that true?! Did THEE Showdown Bandit actually ride you to save his damsel in distress?!"

You blushed at the boy's choice of words and Excalibur seemed to nod. This only fueled the boy's excitement.

"Woah! So cool! Bandit must love you an awful lot to steal a horse partner!"

You blushed even more as the boy went on and on about how Bandit must care for you. You quickly shook your head and waved your hands.

"No no no no, nothing like that lad, he just didn't want to stand and watch, that's all."

"Nuh uh, daddy told me that he didn't just steal a horse to save any person that got kidnapped, he saw my mom getting kidnapped and he stole a horse on the spot!"

You blushed even more and kicked the dirt a bit.

"And your dad is...?"

"The sheriff!"

The boy had stars in his eyes as he told you his father's position. You giggled at his enthusiasm before you noticed your shadow was facing the north.

"Well kid, nice talking to you, but I gotta go, Bandit should be fixed up by now."

The boy grabbed the reins from your hands gently.

"Bye bye! Say hi to your boyfriend for me! Oh and thanks for bringing me back Excalibur!"

You facepalmed as the boy ran with Excalibur in tow. Sighing, you told (D/N) to stop playing in the dirt. On your way back to Doc's you couldn't help, but wonder. Do you really feel that way towards Bandit? Heck, does he even feel the way the sheriff's boy said he did? You looked at the ground when you felt (D/N) poke at you with their muzzle.

"What do ya need pup?"

(D/N) looked at the wanted Bandit posters hanging up on the side of a building then back at you. You shook your head.

"No (D/N), that won't happen."

(D/N) rolled their eyes and sat down and looked you straight in the eyes. You stared back at them. After about thirty seconds you threw your hands in the air.

"Fine! I do!"

"Do what?"

Oh snap crackle pop rice crispies. You looked at the direction of the voice and found a patched up Bandit. Your face flushed and you found yourself struggling to find words.

"Uh I- um...i...how long have you been there?"

"Since the staring contest."

You let out a breathe you didn't even know you were holding. (D/N) then started to bark happily and rugged at the rope you carried in your pocket from the kidnapping. You silently thanked (D/N) for saving you.

"What's up? You need something?"

(D/N) nodded and moved the rope around their neck, forming a leash.

"A leash? You never want a...oh fine."

You shrugged at Bandit who shrugged back and tied the rope around (D/N)'s neck, making sure to not tie it too tightly.

"I should head home, and you should too, ran into the sheriff's son and he probably went to go tell his daddy that you rode his horse."

Bandit sighed and nodded.

"Probably, kid can't keep his mouth shut. I'll walk ya home."

You nodded and began to lead the way. While the two of you were walking you didn't notice (D/N) sneak besides Bandit before booking it in a circle.

"What in tarnation!"

You yelled as you and Bandit were pressed together. The two of you barely had two inches till your lips touched.

"(D/N) let us go right now!"

(D/N) played dumb as to what they were doing and just scratched their neck with their leg. You looked at Bandit, both of you blushing like no tomorrow.

"Sorry about my dog..."

"I-it's fine..."

You both were forced to stand like that a good two more minutes before (D/N) decided it wasn't fun anymore and let you go. You both gave reasonable distances between each other and continued walking in a totally comfortable silence. It wasn't much longer till you stood in front of your residence. You turned to Bandit, still tomato red.

"Thank you for everything you did for me today, just let me know how I can repay you, and sorry about what happened."

You scratched the back of your neck and started to make your way up the porch stairs when a hand clasped your wrist.

"Wait."

You looked back to see a flustered Bandit.

"Let me take you out tomorrow, without the hell dog preferably."

(D/N) rolled their eyes as you made a small giggle.

"Of course, see you tomorrow."

You waved and made your way to your house door when the Bandit let go of your wrist, (D/N) close behind. Before closing the door behind (D/N) you waved again at Bandit and he waved back. Once you closed the door you heard the sound of yelling.

"BANDIT! YOU BASTARD GET OVER HERE!"

"HOLY SH-"

You quickly opened the door and ran outside just in time to see the sheriff chasing down Bandit back into town. You bursted into a fit of giggles before looking at (D/N), who smugly looked at you.

"You aren't getting any treats after dinner after the stunt you pulled."

(D/N): (ŏᆺŏ)
