Chapter 1

_____________________________________________________________________________

RJ POV

I walk down stairs with my backpack in hand. My mother is typing on her computer in the kitchen while my father makes breakfast to Frank Sanatra.

"Good mornin!" I say as I grab an apple off the counter and shove it in my bag.

My Father smiles as I walk in. "Mornin." My little brother, Cesar walks over and sits next to me.

"Whats for breakfast, Dad?"

"We are having eggs and pancakes." My adopted little sister Bonnie runs into the kitchen and clings to dad's leg. We just adopted her last year from Germany when she was 6. She is a little shy and clings to dad like her life depended on it. She had an abusive mother so she is still getting used to mom.

But its fucking cute when my dad takes care of her. Watching my dad wash her hair and do her hair Is my mom and I's favorite pass time.

Dad rubs to top of her head. "You hungry Bonnie?" She nods. "Cesar, can you take her to her seat?" Cesar holds her hand and brings her over to the chair.

Cesar is 3 years younger than me so he is 14. He reminds me so much of dad. He doesn't say much. He nods and does what he's told and never really argues. When he said he joined theatre in middle school all of were shocked.

I remember we went to see his first play. He played Javert in Les Mis. All of us where dumbfounded. My dad looked like a deer in head light and my mother was on the verge of tears because she never knew her son can sing.

Our family I would say is pretty normal over all though. My father owns his own successful resturaunt and is a CEO of a company that sells his own brand of organic meals. My mother is a civil rights lawyer at a very famous law firm. I guess I would say the only thing that stands out is my dad. Which is funny because he is the chillest guy I know. He is mad muscular and full of tattoos and piercings.

But one thing is for sure. I love my parents.

Even though me and my dad are different, he is my inspiration. He would share things about my grandfather and spend quality time with me. He would do anything I asked him. I remember when i was little i asked him to dress up as a pig so i can ride him. He did it in a heart beat.

My mother would always be the one i went to when i wanted to be comforted. She was my emotional support in everything i did.

But what i love most about them is they way they treat each other. They way they interact is so pure and genuine. Even when they argue they always find a way back to one another. I think the longest i have ever seen them fight was 2 days and that was because Dad accidentally deleted some work files for work.

My parents are very open in sharing their lives before we were born. They sat me and Cesar down to share what their lives were like at St. Rainer. To be honest i couldn't believe it, but it made me feel appreciative for their dedication.

They have given me the world and I just want them to be proud of me.

"Breakfast is ready!" My father announces. We all gather at the breakfast table. He places the food before us and when he gets to mom, he closes the computer slowly. She ducks her head to finish her last sentence.

"AHHHH WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" She exclaims. "I AM ALMOST DONE!" It completely shuts. He kisses her cheek. Cesar and Bonnie laugh at them.

"No electronics that the table. I think you made that rule?"She squeezes his nose and kisses him back. She gets up and grabs the drinks.

She kisses each one of us as she pours our water.

"Cesar you have your theatre practice today right?" My mother asks. He nods.

"Till 5."

"And I have soccer practice till 6." My father wipes Bonnie mouth that was covered in pancakes.

"Bonnie, you will be going home with Auntie Torsha okay?" She nods.

"You guys got to go to school the bus should be here by now." We all jump out of our seat. We all grab our things. I grab Bonnie's hand and we are out the door.

We get on our bus and the twins Emma Rose waves and Aiden just stares at us. The twins are a year younger than me. They are my two best friends.

We sit with them on the bus. Bonnie and Cesar sleep in a two seater and I sit between Aiden and Emma.

Aiden hands me a paper bag.

"What the hell is this?" Aiden rolls his eyes.

"Fuck, Just open it loser." I open it and I laugh immediately.

"Yooo no way!" I got some homemade cookies. "Auntie Torsha made them?"

"No dad did." Emma Rose says excitingly. My eyes widen.

"Should i eat these cookies?" Aiden leans back against the window.

"Either way you will dead though.. You will die of food poisoning or he'll kill you for not trying it." He has a point. "He wants your dad to try them. Apparently your dad gave him a receipe."

"Ill make sure these get to him." I say as I stuff them in my bag. I am not eating them. I'll take my chances fighting Uncle Ricky.

"How does it feel being a Junior?" Emma Rose asks me. I put my arms around both of them.

"It feels fantastic... I feel older and wiser" Adrian laughs loudly.

"Wiser really?" Adrian takes my arm off of him. "You smell weird please keep your pits down." Emma Rose scoots into me more.

"He smells like a man, shut up. I think you smell great." Emma's bright blue eyes glisten as she look up at me. I pull her closer to me.

"Why does Emma Rose treat me so well? and Adrian treats me like the chewed up bubble gum under his shoe?" I say flirtatiously. Aiden rolls his eyes.

"Your a class A flirt, you mother fucker. Emma, don't fall for his looks... He may look good on the outside but on the inside... He is that little snot nosed brat who cried when he shat his pants in first grade." I punch Adrian in the arm.

"You promised you wouldn't hold that against me!"

My relationship with twins are very different. Emma Rose is super sweet like her name. She always wanted to play with us because she always wanted to see me. She would always cry when Adrian made fun of her or called her stupid names. I would have to comfort her to make her feel better again.

Adrian and I's relationship is a little rough sometimes. We are completely different people. He is sarcastic, blunt, and likes the go against the grain. He makes it hard for people to like him. I am a popular athlete thats naturally flirty who follows the crowd. But it didn't get bad until we both entered high school. I still don't know why. I asked Emma what happened and she just said that Aiden and Uncle Ricky had an "arguement".

Uncle Ricky and Adrian never fought like that so i was curious as to why, but Emma doesn't know why either.

It's a year later since that and he still has a shitty personality. I know one thing for certain, if we met for the first time at a high school setting we would have never been friends.

Even though we are different years we still have a lot of classes together. Me and Adrian share Chemistry together and Emma joins us for Math and study hall.

I have a lot on my plate. I have to start looking at colleges, win soccer championships, pick a service project for the year and get straight A's.

I am going to make the most out of this year.

It's going to be a fantastic Junior Year nonetheless.

I'm sure of it.
