Chapter 2 -Burned

She knew what he was talking about, since they had spent a long time together, she could see on his face what he meant. She turned around in a flash, watching one of those awful beings grab the oldest Lightwood's wrist bringing him down with it, the now unconscious body of the boy hitting the floor, hard.

Isabell called out for her brother's name, Jace groaned as he felt his parabatai slip away and Clary and Simon shifted their eyes for one second, to see what was going on. The heavy head of the archer hit the ground, as his crystal eyes closed, and his motionless body was stuck on the floor he had fell on.

Quickly, a dozen of demons circled around him, wanting to rob him from his energy so they could live for another century, by taking the years he had left to be their own. The hunters tried everything they could to keep the monsters on a distance, but they were failing, she knew, as they fell just the same,

"Alec!" the blond screamed at the one he shared his heart with, to be connected through thick and thin. He fell alongside the midnight-black haired boy, holding his body tight as the undead surrounded them, a heavy glance suffocating the parabatai as he held his brother tight. If he were to die, he would take them all with him.

That name, that one syllable having name, was enough to stir the half-demon blood owning woman awake. She felt this sudden urge to fight and kill blossom in her chest, as she felt how the monster inside her took over. She had learned how to control it, but right now, she didn't want to.

All she wanted was to come home and tell another mother that her child was safe. She wanted to make sure a boy wouldn't die too young or would be left here to do so because no one knew how to save him. Not today. The last century she had been around, she had helped people, shadowhunters and everything undead or alive rather than to work against them. This, this exact moment, was why.

She grabbed Julien, the leader of these viscous animals, by his neck, throwing him again, now through the entire building, his back hitting the wall, as she heard his spine break. She released a loud scream of anger while she watched her old friend fall down and rest with his now shattered bones against the concrete.

She ran up to him, her daggers ready to slice through him, though she honestly didn't need them. Her eyes burned, while the wind tried to slow her down. Her veins darkened to a shade of black, her eyes lost all colour until they were as colourless as the shadow that surrounded her and her fingers shifted from normal, feminine hands to sharp, deadly claws.

She had reached her target, and with another loud scream, she pushed her nails into his chest, cutting through skin and veins, revealing arteries which weren't meant to be exposed. The man she thought she didn't have to battle any time soon, called out for help, though none arrived.

Jace looked at her, one last time, while other demons tried to get to him too. His golden eyes connected with her now black orbs, and as he fell down, defeated, she exploded. Not in a way that would send pieces of her skin flying through the room, or a total anger outburst, but a one last, very loud yell.

It burned, she could feel the power inside her that had been tamed, break free. With a loud gasp, she spread her arms, a dark glow escaping from every inch of flesh on her body. Her black eyes grey dim, her skin had become just as white as the snow that covered the window which was the only source of light and her veins turned as black as the hair of the man she had failed to protect.

Just like that, every demon screamed in agony, falling down to the ground. They cried out for their mother, father or loved one as their hands burned and their insides were turned upside down. They tried to grab something, anything,to keep them steady, but nothing was close enough for them to reach.

The newest killer looked at the lady he had never met before, but actually quite liked, because she dared to tell Jace off or show others they were wrong without thinking about the scars that might cause on their ego. He watched her howl, while she fell down.

The other monsters hit the floor as if on command, their bodies completely turned to ashes as their lives at so rudely been stripped away from them. Some of their tried to touch the hunters one last time, before they shuddered and decomposed until nothing was left that made it seem as if some horrible crimes had been committed.

She fell down, hard, they grey leaving her skin, her nails retreating and her eyes turning to their fake, emerald colour. Her back arched, as she groaned in pain while her wounds were opened by the energy burst she had suddenly let out. Isabell ran towards her brother, while the more angel owning killer held him tight.

Clary tried to grab Simon's wrist and drag him away from the warlock that had given everything in her power to stop the battle sooner than the swordsmen could, as if trying to save him from some kind of extremely dangerous villain. But actually, all there sat, on the cold floor, was a woman who had grown tired of losing people this way.

"Let me help her, Clary," he whispered. Even before he become a vampire, or a daylighter he cared about people. Being a shadowhunter didn't change that. It even made it easier. And the redhead knew this was what her parabatai had to do, to make himself feel as if him being here had helped at all.

"Fine," she sighed "but be careful."
