Five year old Shouto stared at himself in the mirror, crying and whimpering as he touched his bloody cheek and scar.

'Pathetic', his Father had said. 'Completely and utterly pathetic.'

"I-I am pathetic." He whispered to himself. 'I can't fight, I can't protect Mom, I can't do anything right,' he added silently in his head.

Why did his Father hate him so much? He didn't know. He wished he did- he wished he could know so he could fix it. To get his Father to love him. To not be such a disappointment...
