Please please PLEASE don't start a map if you don't intend/know how to finish it or don't have an editing program
I've been keeping a log of all the MAPs and PMVs I've joined just to see how many would eventually be completed, and may I say... it's disappointing.
According to the list, I've joined 12 MAPs in total and submitted more than one part for a few of them.
Of those, six have been cancelled or abandoned.
And five of the six that weren't? They were hosted by the same person. (Thanks Swagpi ^^)
I just sort of hit the boiling point as last night a MAP I joined was cancelled because the host, and I quote, "couldn't handle all the parts and some people didn't send them to me."
What?
What does that even mean?
Your map has 30 parts; that's about average for a full-length song, and you chose a relatively log one. You knew what you were getting into when you started this project!
The thing that really got me a bit angry is that she waited until the vast majority of parts were already completed and submitted -- and mind you, this was a multiple ANIMATOR project. She required that the parts be fully animated. And then she cancelled. After they'd been worked on by a lot of channels with a lot of subscribers (not me lol some other participants) and a ton of other MAP parts to do.
I CANNOT express in words how disrespectful to their time canceling -- with no apology or noice save for changing the title to "CANCELLED" and erasing the description -- a MAP they spent a lot of time on is. It was clear from their channel that they were really young and probably didn't understand internet etiquette (or that it takes more than one day to make an animated map part, judging by their upload speed and how long it usually takes them. Reason #300 why the age restrictions should be taken a lot more seriously), but it's no less frustrating to the people who dedicated their time on your project.

psa to art community: RESPECT EACH OTHER. Don't take each others' efforts for granted and just be respectful ok if you're going to cancel for some reason just honestly let the participants know instead of leaving it for them to find out and not telling them why (i don't rlly get why people would cancel in the first place; the first map i ever hosted stayed up for three years before it got discontinued so I wouldn't waste the two participants' time)

the solution to this i think is honestly to just stick to reliable hosts to encourage new/other hosts to take the submissions they get a lot more seriously; it's a lot harder and more time-consuming than people think to make one of those things. :/
