Emma's POV~

That next morning, I told the guys that I wasn't coming in. Instead, I went to the grocery store and bought stuff to make sandwiches.

Once those were made and put into baggies, I convinced Jewel to walk to the streets of Nashville with me. We weren't in the best part of town, but I wanted to make an impact on something.

Jewel and I spent the day handing out sandwiches and water bottles to the homeless. It wasn't much to us or the world, but it meant so much to them.

A little girl came up to me and Jewel. She couldn't have been more than nine.

"I-uh, saw you handing out sandwiches. I can I get a couple for my daddy and me?" She asked.

I nodded as she pointed to the other man in the alley, holding a young boy. I smiled, "Would you like one for your brother too?"

"Can I? Daddy said to be polite." She mumbled.

Jewel grinned, "Of course. C'mon. We'll help you."

Jewel and I followed the little girl to man. I smiled at him as we approached him. I dug around in my bag for a few sandwiches and water bottles.

"Here," I stated, "I want you to have these, along with the extras."

The man looked up at me, "Are you sure? I only want my kids fed."

Jewel nodded, "Of course. Some for you, and a few for the two little ones."

He sat the little boy on the ground, next to the girl. The man stood up and hugged me.

"Thank you so much." He whispered.

"It's no problem. I'm glad that I could help some." I replied.

He pulled back, putting his hands on my shoulders. He grinned real wide, "You are the kind of people making a difference in the world."

"Could we get a picture?" Jewel asked, "That's all we want in return. So, we can remember this."

The man nodded, and motioned for his daughter to stand. She picked up the little boy and handed him to his father. We all knelt down so she could get in. The family had the biggest smiles on their faces.

That's why I did it. To show that someone cared, and recognized them as human beings.

~*~*~

Jewel and I stepped into the office. We had ran out of sandwiches faster than I thought. I never knew there was so many homeless people on the streets.

"I thought you coming in, Em." Chad stated.

"I got my stuff done early." I shrugged.

"What did y'all do?" Caleb asked.

Jewel grinned, "We handed out sandwiches to the homeless."

"I had that money I got when my mom died, and I figured to put it good use." I mumbled.

I shrugged as I sat at my desk. Spencer gave me a sympathetic look. He had been comforting me, but these past of couple of days, I've been pushing him away. Ever since that altercation with Leah.

After about an hour, the guys left and went to have lunch with ladies. I just stayed at the office, and so did Spencer. I was surprised that he wasn't with Leah. And I hadn't spoke to Levi since I left for Indiana.

"I'm thinking about leaving Leah." Spencer stated randomly.

"Why?" I questioned, "I thought you liked her."

He sighed, "I thought I did, but I don't. Especially when I still all the feelings for you. Besides, I think she's cheating."

"Do you know who with?" I asked.

"No," he answered, "She's always getting these texts from someone else, and she's had hickies all over her. I seriously think she's sleeping with someone."

"But if she's cheating on you, then why was she so defensive over you? That makes no sense." I stated.

He shrugged, "Doesn't matter. I don't have feelings for her, and I didn't leave those marks on her."

"Talk to her," I suggested, "That's all you can do."

"If it's true and I leave her, would you get back with me?" He asked.

I sighed, "Spencer-"

"Don't come up with some lame excuse." He interrupted.

"We weren't right for each other. You'll find that right girl, one day. We're only 20." I stated.

"Bull." He huffed, "That's absolute bull. Because you know what? It hurts to even think about you and Levi being together. I still love you, you gave me this feeling, and I don't get that same feeling with Leah. I love you,"

"Spencer, please." I whispered, my voice cracking, "I can't get attached like I was. I don't want to lose you a second time. It nearly killed me the first time. It would surely kill me the second."

I watched as he sighed and bit his lip. He looked down, almost as if he was ashamed.

"Why do I keep trying?" He asked himself, "That was so stupid."

He stood up, gathering his things and quickly typing into his phone.

Just as he went to leave, I stopped him.

"Spencer, wait-"

He turned around in a split second.

"No." He snapped, "Don't even. I'm done trying. I knew you were the one for me, Emma. You can't deny it. I can't ever stop loving you, but I'm done trying to get you to see that. You're just too stubborn and I'm sick of it."

I was left shocked as he said all that. He took a deep breath, and turned back around, leaving. And I was left alone, once again.

I just didn't need a relationship at this moment, for one. Two; I just needed him as  a friend.

Now, I'm sure he's not either of those any more. I just pushed him too far away, and the damage was done. I couldn't fix it anymore.
