"God, Anni, you're so lucky. Will you please stop sulking and appreciate your fate? I would die to be in your position!"

"I know right, so would I!"

As Annika's friends kept on swooning about her so called fate, Annika rolled her eyes and walked on. Her friends were crazy but she knew better than to be happy about something so ridiculous. What was wrong with them, anyway? Here she was stuck with having to take extra maths lessons (MATHS, of all subjects!) and instead of showing sympathy, they were too busy dreaming over the person who would be teaching her the said subect. Or to put it in other words, who would be her tormentor. Groaning in frustration at their never ending comments on how she was so lucky and all that, she stopped mid-way in the school corridor and turned to face them, hands on hips.

"What is wrong with you guys?" She asked with a scowl. "Here I am, with extra hours of maths on my head, and you think I'm lucky? Talk about stupidity!"

Looking at her in disbelief, one of her best friends, Chanda, came forward and shook Annika by the shoulders.

"Annika, it's not about maths!" She said slowly, as if to get it through her best friend's thick head. "It's about your maths tutor!"

"Exactly," Chirped in another friend of hers, Mallika. "I mean, come on! Your maths tutor happens to be Shivaay Singh Oberoi. The Shivaay Singh Oberoi! Heartthrob of the school, and not to mention, the handsomest guy on this planet!"

Again, Annika rolled her eyes at how vulnerable all her friends were to guys and their so called beauty. Sighing deeply and shaking her head, since nothing could be done about these dumb friends of hers, she proceeded to leave them behind and go home. Her mood was terrible as it was, and listening to the girls fangirling about her math tutor really wasn't helping. She needed a warm cup of tea right now, and maybe try not to think about her despicable fate.

Flopping down on her bed after lunch, Annika put on her playlist of Old Bollywood Songs on her speaker, but it did nothing to lighten up her mood, that had been ruined by her Maths teacher- Rajesh Sir, early in the morning. He, unfortunately, happened to be her class teacher, and even more unfortunately, happened to like her a lot. Well, all the teacher happened to like Annika Ahuja quite a lot, since she was a happy-go-lucky, respectful type of girl, and overall a good student. Maths however was her enemy, since it was the only subject she barely managed to get passing marks in. Rajesh Sir, of course, couldn't see his favorite student being anything below of excellent in the subject he taught, and so during the homeroom period, he had called Annika to his desk for a private talk.

"How are you, Annika beti?" He had asked with a fatherly smile. In hindsight, Annika realized it had been a passive-aggresive smile as he planned to royally screw her over.

"I'm good sir, thankyou," Annika had replied, wondering what was so necessary that he had halted her conversation about how hot 'Virushka' were with her friends.

"Not much improvement in maths, I see," he had said with a mock stern look in his eyes that were peeping at her from under his glasses. Annika had smiled sheepishly, muttering how Maths and her were never gonna get along.

"Oh, don't say that," he had scoffed. "In my opinion, all you need is some extra help. I can't give some more time to you, as that would seem biased, but, I have just the perfect tutor in mind for you."

That's when Annika had started having a mild panic attack, something the thought of doing more mathematics than was absolutely necessary did to her. Swallowing hard, she had tried getting out of it smoothly, claiming she needed no extra help and was already working harder herself, but it didn't work. Rajesh sir was absolutely adamant about the idea.

"I've even talked to the student," at this point, Annika had breathed out a bit- a student tutoring her would probably mean she would be able to get out of it without putting too much effort. That is, until he had mentioned the name of the student of course.

"And Shivaay Singh Oberoi," he had continued, "is ready to teach you, starting from lunch break tomorrow."

Eyes widened, Annika had only managed to stare at her sir. Shivaay Singh Oberoi wasn't someone who would take this lightly and let her get away with not working hard. Oh no. He was a year senior than her- in grade 12- and was a school topper. He excelled in sports and studies, and was the kind of student all teachers gave example of till the time they retired. And on top of that, he was rude. Well, not the player type rude who looked down upon others, but he did come off as being arrogant, and mingled less with people who weren't his friends. While all of Annika's friends had a crush on him, she herself didn't see what was so great about him. Sure, he was extremely good looking, she'd give him that. Especially those kanji aankhen of his were quite nice. But overall, she couldn't have cared less about the boy, until now. Now, he would be her tormentor, as she had labelled him.

Coming back to the present, Annika turned off her music player. Even listening to her favorite number- Neele neele ambar par- did her no good. Sighing, she took out her maths textbook and decided to try- 'try' being the strong word here- and solve some problems. She wouldn't want to come off as being entirely stupid in front of someone who was high-headed as it was, anyway...

The next day had Annika scowling throughout, and nothing her friends said could cheer her up. In fact, their constant reminder that Shivaay Singh Oberoi was the hottest tutor she could have gotten only pissed her off more, to the point that she bunked two classes and chose to stay in the library instead to avoid listening to them. There, she found Omkara, who was a good friend of hers and also happened to be Shivaay's cousin brother. He was in Annika's grade, and was a really laid-back, kind and sweet guy. He also happened to be a great artist and was known throughout the school for his talent.

"Hey, Annika," he greeted her as she sat down next to him. Annika only gave a tight smile in return.

"What has you so upset?" He asked her, concerned. Annika sighed deeply, before telling him that she had a new tutor to teach her math, the very subject she tried hard to run away from. Laughing, Om told her he empathized.

"But don't worry, after Shivaay is done with you, I'm sure you'll start liking maths."

Annika furrowed her brows at that.

"Wait, how did you know that your brother is my tutor?"

"Oh, Shivaay mentioned it last night," Om replied. "He seemed quite excited too, you know. Probably because he thinks he'll be able to change your view in the subject!"

Annika forced a smile at that, but she was in deep thought. Firstly, Shivaay knew her? Weird because they had never interacted, and although she was quite popular, Shivaay Singh Oberoi was a different case entirely.

And secondly, if Shivaay was excited to teach her, he'd be pretty disappointed to see how unenthusiastic she herself was. The thought managed to make Annika crack a smile, her first genuine one since she had heard the dreadful news.

Half an hour later, it was finally lunch break, and taking a deep breath, Annika proceeded to an empty classroom- one that had been assigned by Rajesh Sir to them for their tuition session. Opening the door, Annika found it to be empty.

How typical of the mighty Shivaay Singh Oberoi to be late! She thought, keeping her bag on the desk. She had never talked to the guy but he was already pissing her off! Five minutes passed, where Annika sat tapping her foot impatiently and wondering if she should just leave and inform Rajesh sir the next day that her tutor hadn't showed up, when he finally appeared. He seemed to be out of breath, and was carrying a stack of books in his hands, bag flung over one shoulder. Annika tried not to think about how much better looking he was up close, and only gave him a nod in acknowledgement.

"Sorry I'm late," he said as he sat on the chair beside her and kept the books on the table. "I had to go to the library and get some resources that will help you better. I'm Shivaay, by the way," he said, jutting out a hand for her to shake. Annika took it, and ignored the spark she felt at the contact. After all, it was natural with someone so attractive, wasn't it?

"Annika," She said, giving a small smile.

"Oh, I know." He replied simply, proceeding to open the books. Annika was quite confused, to say the least. She had thought he would be haughty and distant, but here, he appeared to be quite friendly, with a small smile plastered on his face. Shaking out of her thoughts, she decided to just focus on maths, and prepared herself for the next gruesome 30 minutes.

"The integration of SinX is minus CosX, Annika, not just CosX."

Taking the pen from her, Shivaay corrected one of her many mistakes, which were very frequent in nature.

"Iss plus minus ne toh jeena haram kar dia hai," Annika muttered under her breath, but it didn't go unheard by Shivaay, who chuckled.

In the past 20 minutes, Annika had realized one thing- Shivaay was nothing like she had expected him to be. Even though she kept making silly mistakes, he was gentle in his correction and was explaining everything slowly for her to understand. Moreover, he seemed to have a good sense of humour, too. To be honest, it was pissing Annika off because she didn't like being wrong, and here she had misjudged him completely. It wasn't her fault though, was it? Everyone in the school knew that Shivaay Singh Oberoi was an intimidating, unapproachable type of a guy, from whom arrogance just oozed out. Moreover, everyone thought he was quite discourteous too, since he had broken up with his previous girlfriend -Tia Kapoor- quite publicly in the cafeteria during lunch break last month. Talk about insulting! It had been a hysterical affair though, since Tia had been absolutely appalled he would break up with her, and had thrown a fit.

Anyway, coming back to the present, Annika stole a glance at Shivaay as he solved some of his own math problems. Along with acknowledging that he wasn't all that bad, she had to admit, he was a good teacher too. Which was saying something, since being able to make Annika understand math was nothing less than a miracle. He was some sort of a genius in the subject, and Annika marveled at the Oberoi genes- one brother was a mathematical genius, one was an incredible artist, while the youngest- Rudra Singh Oberoi of grade 8- was a promising football player. Sighing, she wondered just what exactly she was doing with her own life.

"Any problem?" Shivaay asked her, breaking her chain of thoughts. Hurriedly shaking her head, she averted her gaze back to her math copy. From her peripheral vision, she could sense that he was staring at her, and when she looked up again, he looked away quickly. Furrowing her brows, Annika decided to just ignore it. Looking at her watch, she saw that their 30 minutes were over, and she gratefully closed her books.

"Time's up," she declared, and started packing her bag. If she didn't know any better, she'd say that Shivaay looked like he was disappointed, but- LOL. So, waving him a goodbye, Annika dashed out of the room and went to meet her friends, who were *hopefully* waiting for her to have lunch.

On the other hand, Shivaay stared after her as she left, a small, admiring smile playing on his lips.

Ah, my first AU, teen-fic on Shivika. I had fun writing this, I'll admit. Can't say when the next part will be up, but hopefully soon. Let me know what you thought of this!

Also, those of you making requests for stories- please read the rules again. Answer all the questions all together and not as separate in-line comments. And please be very specific about your plot instead of giving vague ideas about what track you want to read on!
