A Stranger To Me
To see faces wherever I wander,
"Just who are they?" is what I would ponder.
A stranger to me,
Is someone to thee.
Through all the noise, the city's constant drone
Each day I cross paths with someone unknown
Today it is you,
Who is in my view.
I wonder what path you have taken here.
I wonder what path you'll take to get there.
Where tangents will meet
Is found in a beat.
I may never see you ever again,
Or perhaps we'll become very close friends.
I just don't know how
In this fleeting now.
You may have dreams, either crushed or achieved,
Know true love, or had your heart be deceived.
What secrets you hold,
May never be told.
Your feet have touched upon ground I have not,
Your brain has had thoughts that I have not thought.
You are but yourself,
I am but myself.
We may both prefer to take coffee black,
We may both like an odd musical track.
You may be like me,
I may be like thee.
Our friends may be friends or hometowns the same,
Or maybe we share a family name.
I will never know,
For now we must go.
As quickly as you had graced my presence,
I am now left standing with your absence.
Our paths are not one,
The moment is done.
Your memory fades away from my mind.
Your mark, after all, is not left behind.
A someone to thee,
A stranger to me.
