Haou-sama; Into the forest I go

I looked out the window at the eery forest forever covered in fog. I have ever wanted to go in and look at the wonders hidden in that forest. My name was called by mom telling me dinner was done. A heavy ragged breath left me as I pried my eyes away from the forest.

I was in my studio full of photos, not just any photos either, photos of abandoned places. Some hang on walls while some sit in stands, some with paint on them. Thought I try something different with the photos I took.

I stopped at the desk checking my laptop on the status of the downloading of my camera. My latest adventure -well, actually earlier today- was at an amusement park that was closed down in the 50's. The story of how I found the suddenly closed down and forgotten place is another story. Let's just say I found out about it when an old creepy dude came to mom's antique store with a chest full of flyers and posters anywhere from 30's to the mid 60's. They all were in tip top condition, like new condition, the paper felt like it was just made. Mother was preparing herself for the high price the old man would ask for. But, he just walked away with a sinister smile when our eyes met, like he knew something. Both our jaws dropped when it finally hit us, I squealed with glee. Mom had to keep me busy with store chores in fear my excitement might damage the flyers.

After she placed them all out she finally let me look. Instantly I realized something was weird. When I asked mom about it and if she had a weird feeling too, all I got was a tilted head and 'well~' answer. After looking at a few the link was found. The location was the same. Then I looked at the rest of the files.

"Mom!" I shouted not sure where she went to. "No, need to shout I am right here." She said in that expertly calm mother voice. "I found it! I found the link!" I was starting to sound like a little hyper kid who really badly wanted on a roller coaster ride -that is a hundred percent a different story to another adventure.

"It is the location!" I began again. "All near or somewhat in the forest."

I could see the cringe of dislike on my mother's face. I knew I was going to have to negotiate with her about letting me go to some of these places.

My name was called again bringing me back, this time next to the door. "Yeah, I am coming." I told my brother. They shout through the house and I am expected to hear. I yell through the house the parents don't hear. What is up with that? Are they not suppose to have super parent hearing?

Carefully but quickly, I run down the stairs and slide into my seat, the table all set. Our plates full of food, today we are having biscuits and gravy. My favorite. We finish eating and are waiting on my brother who is on his second helping, and talking not eating.

"I heard there was a fair coming to town." I pipe up after he stops talking.

"No." My jaw drops at the sudden stern reply that came from mom. "O-Okay." I stuttered dropping the subject.

After I cleaned the dishes and took a shower, which my father was complaining that I did not take one when I got back. With my jamies on I threw my favorite adventuring jeans in the hamper to get washed along with my shirt. Just as I had entered through the gate to the amusement park I had just explored. I slipped, hard, on my butt. I hissed at the pain shooting up my spine as I held my camera up to protect it. Now know what I hold quite dear compared to my life.

It was surprisingly well kept for a forgotten location. Yet, it did not feel abandoned. I was getting a feeling of being watched. I am not the supernatural superstitious person but I watch -every now and then- those ghost shows. That feeling they describe at times is what it felt like.

As I sat on my bed drying my hair, my mind raced back to what I had seen. It was completely out of the ordinary. Since Disney opened up, parks did not do a castle, at least in that same skill. Even if this amusement park was before Disney that castle was completely out of place. There was no hint that it was meant to be a lively castle. It gave me an eery feeling. It was big, bigger than any of Disney's castles. The size was like it was a real castle. Real I tell you! But, I don't know why I am saying that. The castle it was black, no castle, no matter the age has not been turned black, including remnants of a castle.

Then I remember seeing something in the window just as I took the picture. I left my bedroom and went to my studio to get my camera. As soon as I turned on the power I went straight to the photos taken. My eyes filled with horror I was not finding the photo I took. It was about the twentieth one I took and I have all of the ones I took after. Thirty-two gig card and I still fill the card up on one trip. Turning to the laptop I tried my luck there. Still no gold. I went to my room which has a better view of where the park should be. Perks of living in a three story house with high ceilings. Still no gold. But the castle was sticking out of the forest, so it should be easily seen right? Guess not. Now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen a castle stick out.

"Good night." Mother called out, hinting that I should go to bed. My eyes drifted to the clock on my wall it reading late. I took a key from the top of my desk and rewinded the old clock to keep it ticking in the night. As I lay in bed my mind wondered to places both questioning and reding. Eventually my eyes became heavy and finally I was off to sleep.

When my eyes opened I was not in my room I seem to be in a throne room and I was calm about it. Instead of my mixed matched jamies I was in a satin black dress that went to my knees, it was very form fitting and it left nothing, nothing to the imagination. Calmly I walked up next to the throne.

"You should call it a day." I said as I neared it. A sigh came from the throne. Standing next to it, I can see who was in the throne. I could not see his face because of the helmet upon his head. Spikes came the shoulders of the armor giving a threatening feeling. In the torso it looked as if he was being bound. With the black color and gold like trimmings intimidation was easy.

I leaned on the throne to prod him to leave but he had other plans. Leading me over I sat on his lap, his arms wrapping around me tight and possessive, yet lose and loving. I purred and leaned back. Almost painfully he moved his arms away from my waist and grabbed his helmet placing it on the arm rest. His head rested, no, fell rather harshly on my shoulder.

"This is proof my fur ball needs to go to bed." I got a grunt from deep in his throat in reply. A arm returned to my waist and his other hand stroke and played with my hair. Liking the feeling I purred. "I think I have a cat and not a queen." He chuckled just before planting a kiss on my cheek.

A loud bang rang, waking me up as I shot out of bed and ran through the house to see what it was.

"What was that?" I asked upon seeing mother in the kitchen, father had already left for work. "Your bother throwing a tantrum." I sighed. "This early in the morning?" Mom looked at me then chuckled. "It is 10 o'clock." It took a moment then it hit me. HOLY CRAP HOW COULD I FORGET? I ran back up the stairs to get ready. The dream had been all forgotten. I was aloud to take another adventure this time even deeper in the forest. After getting dressed and finding a different pair of jeans since my others are waiting for a wash and finishing freshening up. I looked out the window.....it was raining.

Disappointed I walked back down with a slouch. "I could have told you that it was raining." She had that mother look. I nodded and looked at the cereal, see if there was any to my taste. That being a yes I had some cereal.

"Why not help me in the shop today?" She asked looking back at me halfway through the door that connected to the shop down stairs. I looked up from the bowl and nodded. After seeing my answer she went down the stairs.

I was half way through my breakfast I could hear the bell to the door in the shop ring. Mom just opened up and there is already a costumer. Finishing up I ran down to help out.

I went up to the wooden counter to see my friends talking with my mother.

"Hi, guys." I greeted, "what troubles are you causing this early?" They nodded their heads with that "really" look on their faces.

"Early? It is 10:30 don't start that." Dave the ring leader of our group said.

"We wanted to know if you wanted to go to the fair with us?" Jane piped in before I could respond to Dave's remark.

"You guys know where it is right?" I questioned their sanity.

"Yeah, the edge of the forest." Dave answered as a matter of factly.

"Oh~" Then it hit everyone.

"That and do you know what happens to the parks and fairs?" I questioned again leaning my chin on my palm.

"No." John stated and the others shook their heads.

"The forest eats them." I did my best to make an eery voice.

"Hahaha that is a good one." Apparently they did not believe me. Time to use plan B. "No, it is true. All that I have looked in the forest was once in the town."

"You mean that the forest eats these?" John sounded skeptical as he voice out for everyone.

"And part of the town." I added starting to get bored.

"You are joking." Dave clearly is stupid. I made this point before.

"Remember the treehouse?" It always involves a treehouse.

"The one they would bring us to? Yeah." Jane confirmed.

"I have the last photo of it still in the tree." I could not help but brag about the fact.

"The one just before the storm?"

"Yup, and you know I like to go to places after a storm. Well I went to the treehouse and found it no longer there, all and any signs of it being there gone."

"So?" Dave wasn't getting the point or wanted me to get to the point.

"The only thing I found was the foundation that the house once sat on around the tree."

"No wonder there was no floor and you could see right up the house." Jane was recalling the past.

"Anyway like I was saying I am not going." I crossed my arms to emphasize what I was telling them.

"Only if it is abandoned." John whispered, but I could clearly hear it. He was half right, there were other reasons.

"How about the mall instead?"
Dave huffed but agreed neither the less, as did the others.

"I am surprised." Mom came back and joined me as they left.

"About what?" I turned to face her.

"That you did not want to go." I went to the box that she had brought in earlier. "There is something there that kinda scares me." Mother seemed to understand and kept quiet.

Little did I know to what my so called friends were planning.

The rest of the day went with a blur and I was obviously not myself. In some point of the day that dream came back to me and haunted me. It was ok, I guess. I did not like it, but, I did not dislike it.

I was just about to eat dinner when a knock on the door made me look up. "Your friends are here!" My bother yelled from the door. "I was just about to eat." Mumbling to myself as I looked at my plate full of longing. It was curry tonight. Not Indian, Japanese curry.

"We figured you would try to eat dinner before." Dave piped in triumph as he was guided in by my little bro.

"So~" John decided to be annoying by dragging out the word. "We decided to come early and force you to eat with us."

I looked at them with eyes asking for mercy. "There is plenty-"

"Nope!" I swear Dave likes push me, hard.

"You are making me eat that food?" They all nodded with that grin on their faces.

I sighed in defeat, my head hanging low. "Let me put more cash in my wallet." I said as I heaved myself out of the chair and walked up the stairs.

They had me out the door as soon as my foot touched the last step.

"John is driving?" I groaned at the sight of the beat up car from the 80's. "No, I am" Dave pointed to himself as he had a foot in the drivers side. "Honestly don't think that is any better." I mumbled to myself. Jane was the last to look at to drive but her dad won't ride with her. If that isn't a hint enough.

I am not the youngest but also I am not the oldest. I just refuse to learn to drive a car when everything is a bike ride away.

We all sat in the car, boys in front, girls in back and we headed off. Looking at my surroundings quickly I noticed something was off. "Dave." I said obviously annoyed.

"What?" Dave shrugged as he looked back through the review mirror. "We agreed to pitch in and cover for your ticket."
I have a look of pure annoyance. "I told-"

"We are here!" John cut me off like a hyper kid -like he always is- for candy.

With a team effort, Jane in the inside and the boys out, pull/pushing me to get out as I was like a cat using leverage not to get put in a bucket full of water. They won our battle when I felt a shiver run down my spine weakening my grip. Everyone taken by this sudden action we, Jane and I, fell out of the car and landed on the boys.

"Well, if I knew we were going to get this close I would have worn fragrance." I pushed up to be able to glare at John. "Should have worn some anyway, you stink." Giving a scowl I got up and looked around. We were not exactly close to the gate....Wait, that gate. Have I not seen it before?

Jane pulled me as they went to the gate. Dave and John stopped at the ticket booth to pay our entry. The man inside looked up to confirm the tickets, seeing me he waved us off, letting us through. I continued to watch the man in puzzlement as the other dismissed it and dragged me with them.

"You know since we dragged your butt here, you can at least work with us and have some fun." Dave was getting a little annoyed with my actions. Can't blame him I would too if it were not me.

I crossed my arms and stood in front of them. "Fine, I will tell you. I have a weird vibe. I swear I walked through those every gates yesterday."

"You are sacred." Dave teased, John was looking around and I swear it was for a clown mask.

"Yes."
