Valentine's Day Poems
Poems by me! (My excuse for posting now is as a memorial to the previous story.)
One day a heartfelt riddler took upon his stead
A mighty challenge of wit set upon his head;
His eyes gleamed bright and true,
Brilliant lines from his pen they flew,
And though the finished poem was to be scarcely read,
Valentine's breakthrough has survived until you.
-
These past years have been a reverence,
For both of us I am certainly sure,
And I hope you know I wish not ever a severance,
But instead for our friendship to forever endure.
What have I gained by knowing you is ample evidence;
What I offer in heart and time our future will ensure.
-
Friendship is not unlike a strange metaphor,
Taking root among children that play,
Yet none has seen quite the extent before
How blesséd we are to have met in that way;
For the passing time has allowed us to adore
The value of each other beyond even this day.
-
You have rewritten the word "special" in everyone's mind,
Your loyalty outlasting through the toughest of times.
If it comes to be that you move away -- you'll find
That my gratitude carries further than these rhymes,
So befitting to your wonderful constancy (always so kind)
And a star-struck awe of outerworldly regimes.
-
If any mind should be quick and witty,
Mine is that which cannot simply place
A set of comparisons upon such is pretty,
But instead I'll explain in a manner easy to trace
The fantastic joy of sharing with you in this city,
By telling you that our memories shall never erase.
