Wish Upon A Star
When you wish upon a star, your wish comes true, right?
Nope.
The stars are actually satellites, that record and catalog your wishes, and a special agent records your wish, and tried their very best to make it come true.
Spencer Riles used to love making wishes when she was younger. All the time. The agents at the top decide to make her a wish-granting agent herself! Can she succeed? Read on!

The stars sparkle brightly, glistening and lighting up against the dark night sky. I suck in my breath and release quickly. Quietly, I whisper softly,
I wish I could touch the stars
--
I flutter my eyelids open slowly. I yawn, and remember that wish. It was my most recent wish, from a few days ago. It had given a funny feeling when I said it, and it had put me on edge. I quickly changed into my black leggings and purple top, grabbing my schoolbag on the way out. I waved to my mother, and ran out the door. If I was late again, I would get detention. I popped in my earbuds, and grabbed my bike. I played my playlist, but no sound came out. I kept skipping songs, but nothing happened. I brushed it off and kept peddling to school. I parked my bike to the rack and met with my best friend, Dalia. I waved a hello, but she didn't respond. She was staring at her phone, confusion written across her face. I tapped her shoulder, and she grabbed my wrist.
"We have to go, now." She said frantically. I let her pull me to her old minivan, and sat in the passenger seat.
"D? What's going on?" I said. Dalia just shook her head in response.
"This is going to sound crazy, but bare with me," she began. I gulped, and nodded my head.
"Stars aren't real. They're satellites, and people, they hear wishes. They try to grant them. Make people have hope, ya know? And, they decided to make you a Granter." She said. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out.
"How do I do it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. She must've heard me because she responded with,
"I don't know, I just help find people. You'll have to ask Max, when you meet him." I stayed silent after that, until we got to this giant white warehouse. I stepped out, and Delilah did the same.
She hugged me, and I hugged her back. When we finally broke apart, she started to say something, until a guy, about my age, interrupted her.
"Hi! I'm Max." I looked at this guy. He was shorted than me, but I was kind of tall. He had black hair, and it was in a typical 2017 cut. He had thick rimmed glasses, and his voice was a high pitch.
"Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded. He pulled my arm into the building, and I was breathless. The entire place was white, and people were everywhere, mostly listening to something their phone said. I kept inspecting the place as Max droned on. There were a lot of corridors, and I assumed some of them were like dorm rooms. We finally stopped, and Max sat me down into a computer.
"This is where you listen to wishes. You record them by typing them, and when the day is over, you print them out and hand them to Wren, your boss. Then, that gets sent out to Makers, who actually make the wish come true. When the wish you typed comes true, you get a point. Enough points, and you'll become a Maker." Max finished. I smiled, and he walked away. I slipped in my earpiece, and I heard a little girls voice.
Time to get started.
