Her paws frozen to the ground, Gidget wanted to move but her legs refused to listen to her. All she could do was watch in sheer terror as the rattlesnake came closer. Everything appeared to be in slow motion. Staring at the dripping fangs of the snake, Gidget didn't even notice that Tiberius had sprung forward until she felt something push her out of the way.

Rolling over the grass, Gidget finally came to a stop. Shaking her head, she looked up to find Tiberius wrestling with the rattlesnake. Both animals were hissing at each other before they both vanished into the bushes. Heart pounding, Gidget couldn't see what was going on other than shaking leaves. She stood where she was, her fur bristling with fear. A screech from Tiberius caused her heart to lurch. At last, the leaves on the bushes eerily stopped shaking as both the snake and the hawk let out one final hiss each. Fearing something bad happened, Gidget was about to run over when the bushes started shaking again.

A moment later, Tiberius walked out. The rattlesnake hung limp in his mouth. Gently placing the dead reptile on the grass, he looked up at Gidget and asked softly, "Are you okay?" Happy to see that her friend was alright, Gidget bounded over and gave the hawk a big hug. Startled at first, her friend hugged her back. Her face partially buried in his chest feathers, she whispered, "I am now."
