Thinkers
Ren woke up from her forced sleep dazed. Her eyelids fluttered open and she groaned, trying to stretch but she soon found out that she was tied down. Panic welled up inside her and she tugged on them. Even her legs were restrained. She was starting to hyperventilate. she didn't remember where she was or what happened prior to her imprisonment. Ren began to writhe and shake from left to right; from up to down. She screamed and hollered. This place was scary. All she could see was white curtain surrounding her. She looked down to see she was in a plain white, thin hospital gown customary to... special hospitals.
Craig Power's hospital. The trillionaire smart guy who makes flying cars and robots and junk. But, why was she in his hospital? It was only for his experiments, though nobody but her would call it experiments. Saving lives is what he called it. She use to work for him right before...
"Ah! She's finally awake." a voice with no location chimed in her ears. Was it coming from a speaker or...
"You're probably wondering why you're here. It's very simple. You're here to save lives."
"Power, get me out of here!" Ren yelled, her voice a bit hoarse from thrashing earlier.
"Now, now Ms. Ren. Calm down."
"You expect me to calm down when-" an awful ringing sound echoed in her brain. She tried to cover her ears but her hands were still tied down. It was an agonizing minute but eventually the ringing ceased. Ren hadn't realized she was panting.
"That is what will happen if you don't do what we say. We're trying to help people here, Ms. Ren."
"By... controlling them?"
"Not exactly. Just controlling what they think so we can all live in harmony."
"Just like you're stupid robots."
"If you don't like the ear pinching noise, then I suggest you stay quiet."
"I didn't volunteer, Power! This is a kidnapping!"
"No, it's not. Tru sent you in."
"Voluntold does not count! Plus, he wouldn't do that to me."
"Unless he wanted to save his job."
"No! I refuse-AH" there it was again. She clenched her teeth, trying not to scream. She didn't want to satisfy Power. He couldn't see her, right? He couldn't see her pain, all around her was white curtain. No cameras, no windows. Just her, the bed, and these blasted white curtains. What was with the color white? Was Power that crazy for his favorite color to be... white? The pain faded and Ren wanted so bad to sew her mouth shut because God knows how evil this guy was and she wouldn't shut up about his idiocy.
The pain began again.
"Power!!" she screamed. This time it was short. "I didn't say anything..." she panted.
"No." she heard a door open and the curtains opened and there he was, smug in all. His beard had flecks of white. His hair was greasy and it was plastered against his head. He had not cut his hair in awhile so it hung past his chin.
"No... what?" she glared at him.
"You thought."
"I thought?"
"Yes. You thought, and I quote, 'God knows how evil this guy was.'"
"What..."
"Yes." he lifted his chin. "I know you're thoughts. Thank you for being apart of this experiment."
