Love and War
The Lands were mystic and glorious. Near perfect. Because she had to leave it. Before she would leave, though, she had to see her favorite spot one last time.
Though the trees were thin and sparse, the blue bells brought vibrant colors and beauty to it. The grass danced and swayed in the wind, and she danced and swayed along with it. She felt secluded and happy as the tall, thick bushes of green caged the small clearing, making it her hideaway. Her little world to control when everything else never went her way.
Lady Devoe laid down with a happy sigh as the grass billowed around her caused by the breeze that swarmed her enclosure. As she became lost in her thoughts, she was startled by a thud next to her.
Before she could gasp, a hand was to her mouth and the man next to her held a finger to his lips. "Shhh..."
Lady Devoe ripped his hand from her mouth. "Prince Golding!"
He laughed and laid back down. "I thought I told you to be quiet."
"Saying 'shh'," she put her finger to her lips as he did, "does not really tell anything."
"I thought I taught you these social things."
"I am well aware of 'social things'," she laid down beside him. The act caused her stomach to tickle with what felt like butterflies. She was worlds overjoyed to see him and his pale skin and dark hair. His eyes danced like oceans, blue like sapphire. His laughed made her want to hear it all night and all day everyday forever. She couldn't even describe the way she felt when he smiled. But, it was not to be. She knew he knew it. Why was he making her suffer?
"You are aware of lady 'social things', m'lady."
"I am not your lady, sire."
"I am not your sire, lady." He turned on his side to see her. She did not look at him.
"Why must you tease me so? You know I have to leave in the morning."
He was taken aback. Sitting on his knees, he proclaimed, "Because I love you."
"No... no, you do not." She turned away from him. "If you did, you wouldn't make me suffer."
He scooted towards her. "Please, Violet, please."
Her face was red and puffy and tears were running down it. A sob escaped her and she sat up. There was silence for many moments. Violet hoped he would leave but he scooped her hand and stood. Disoriented, she stood as well.
"At least give me one last dance..."
