***YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***
<3rd Person Limited POV>
Joan had just helped a friend who was about to kill themself. For the eighth time this week. All different people. She checked the calendar on her phone. It was only Wednesday. She took a shaky breath and continued walking down the road.
*time skip la dee da la dee dum*
She walked up to Vanessa Smith, who was crying in the school parking lot. "Hey hey hey... it's okay." She knelt beside her, and she noticed Vanessa had a black eye and a handprint on her face. Vanessa looked at her with confusion. "Who-" "Doesn't matter. Now, tell me what's wrong." Joan said comfortingly. Vanessa was hesitant at first, but then melted in a hug Joan had given her. She began sobbing as she tried to form words to explain.
"My.... m-my boy...f.... friend... b-beat... me...." Vanessa stuttered out in between sobs. "Damn it, Kyle..." Joan mumbled under her breath. "T-Thank you... who...whoever you a-are." Vanessa hugged Joan even tighter.
Joan smiled. This was one of the few times someone had thanked her. Vanessa pulled apart from the hug and ran towards her friends, falling into their arms.
Joan got up and walked into the school building alone, taking in every detail. This was the last time she was ever going to see the building, after all.
She approached a boy in a light blue skirt who was putting away his razor. "Nico..." She said softly. He jumped and turned around. "Who are y-" "Nevermind that. Nico, you... you shouldn't do that to yourself." Nico looked down. "I know... but -" "Nico if you know it's not okay, then..... then why..." She said, taking his arms lightly, looking at all of the scars, old and new. She noticed tears pricking Nico's eyes. She pulled him into a hug. He cried into her shoulder, and walked away. Joan could tell he at least had a faint smile on his face.
She walked to her classroom, and since she was early, only the teacher was there. She got a bag of cookies out of her backpack. "Here you go, Mr. Richardson. I'm so sorry about your wife and son, I heard there was an accident." She said with a sincere look, putting the bag on his desk. He looked shocked, but didn't say anything.
Joan started her daily routine of putting each student in her classroom's favorite snack and candy. Even Nancy, who's favorite snack was macaroons and favorite candy was from Japan and was over 300 dollars. After she had finished, she sat down at her desk and began to read.
*time skip because I'm lazy*
She sat down at a lunch table, wondering if Matthew was going to sit with her today. Matthew was her best and only friend, but sometimes Matthew forgot about her, just like everyone else. "It's not their fault I'm not worth remembering." She thought to herself. She watched as Matthew walked to a different table full of kids.
She ate her sandwich and drank all of her water, and got up to throw away her trash. Since lunch wasn't over yet, she walked out of the Lunchroom and entered the Library.
She sat down at a table and pulled out her textbook, notebook, and a pencil. She was about to start taking notes, when she heard a groan cone from behind a bookshelf. She got up and went to go investigate.
She peered behind a bookshelf and saw Kyle sitting out the floor, burying his face in a jacket. She sighed, which caught his attention. He head shots up and turned to face Joan. "Wh-" "Not important. What is important is that you need to apologize to Vanessa." Joan said as she sat next to him. Kyle was looked at her in disbelief, but answered anyway. "How can I say sorry for abusing someone?! Hey, I'm sorry I punched you and slapped you because I was drunk and I didn't know it was you?" He said mockingly, but there was an honest undertone that only somone like Jane would recognize. "Something along those lines, yes. But, you should be more subtle." Joan chuckled, as Kyle fumbled with his jacket sleeves. "I'm gonna go apologize. Right now." He stood up and raced out of the Library.
She walked back to her table and continued working like nothing had happened. After all, this kind of stuff happened every day.
*time skip brought to you by my sudden obsession with flowers*
Although it wasn't the end of the school day, Joan walked down the road home. She took longer than usual, because she stopped to look at every house, and wave to every family she saw. She complimented every person she met along the way. She made sure their day was a good one, because hers definitely wasn't.
She got to her house eventually, but didn't go in. Instead, she walked around to the garden.
She sniffed almost every flower, but there were too many to count. She absolutely loved the garden, because it was the only part of her life that truly had any color. She decided it would be a good place to spend her last moments in.
After almost an hour of just enjoying every last part of the beloved garden's beauty, she made her way to the natural, nature made, fresh water pool. She had seen how deep it was, and deemed it, "deep enough".
She grabbed a piece of paper and a pen she had set out for herself yesterday, making her job a lot easier. She wrote down every single good thing she had done for someone, and who she had done it for. With her photographic memory, this wasn't hard at all.
Once she had listed every good deed, which totaled to around 43,800. She wrote her final good thing she had done, and it was that she'd stopped bothering everyone. It was for the gorgeous and miraculous world, which she thought she didn't deserve to be in.
She folded the list up and hid it under a rock. She grabbed another rock and used some spare rope and tied the rock to her ankle.
"Goodbye, everyone."
And with that, she jumped into the pool. She never resurfaced alive.
<Matthew's POV>
Once I was done hanging with my friends, I remembered I was supposed to go to Joan's house.
"Shit shit shit!" I raced to her house, knowing she felt it was her fault when something didn't go according to plan.
I arrived at her house, and I walked towards the garden, knowing that's where she spent most of her time.
"Goodbye, everyone."
I heard her voice, and began picking up my pace until I was running to the garden.
I heard a splash just as I entered the garden, already knowing what had happened. Then I did something I never thought I would do.
I froze.
My feet felt like they were in cement. I couldn't seem to make myself move, and by the time I could, I knew it was far too late. Then I did something else I thought I would never do.
I ran away.
I ran, and I ran, and I ran as fast as I could back to school. It was the end of the school day by now, but I knew people would still be hanging out in Mr. Richardson's classroom.
I burst into the classroom, seeing the usual scene. Vanessa and Kyle making out in the back, Nico applying more lipgloss, and Mr. Richardson reading a book on his desk, but this time he was eating something out of a bag.
Then I yelled something I never wanted to say once in my life.
"JOAN REYES JUST COMMITTED SUICIDE!!!"
Everyone's eyes widened in shock at the word "Suicide", but all of their faces gradually became more curious and confused. They all said the same thing in unison.
"Who?"
