WILDEST DREAMS
SAY YOU'LL REMEMBER ME

fleur shifted from side to side. Her legs were still shaking. And in her mind there was only Neuvillette. Neuvillette, Neuvillette, Neuvillette. She hated herself for it, but she had liked it. She liked it so much. His movements, his touches, his words. Just thinking about it could make her come again. Sighing, Fleur threw off the covers and got up from her bed. She had to take a shower. She needed to clear her head. And have breakfast! She was really hungry.

But the shower didn't really help. Sure, she was clean and smelled fresh, but he was still on her mind. He had called her darling. He had said that he thought she was pretty. That he found her lovely. That he adored her. Why now?

Fleur grabbed her cardigan and slammed the door behind her. Breakfast would help her think about something else. Hopefully.

The streets of Fontaine were, like every morning, only slightly crowded. She got through quickly and arrived at her beloved bakery relatively fast. And who did she saw there? Louise. He sat at one of the tables outside and waved to her. He had such a friendly smile. She had to return it.

»Good Morning, Fleur.« He stood up from his chair to pull her chair back for her. Not only did he have a friendly smile, he was also super friendly. »I've already ordered your things, I hope that's okay.«

»Oh, sure! Thank you.« She opened one of the small boxes and took out a chocolate croissant. Oh, she was so hungry! She took a bite and it truly tasted heavenly. The best bakery around!

Louise laughed lightly. »Long night or why so hungry?«

She knew he didn't know. He couldn't know. But Fleur still choked on her next bite. »I, I didn't sleep well.«

»Oh, I hope not because our dinner was so terrible.«

»No, no! I thought it was really nice.« She took a sip of her tea to wash down the piece of croissant she had choked on. »I hope you too?«

Louise smiled. He was really sweet. But did she want sweet? No.. damn no she wanted Neuvillette. And she may have wanted him for a while. After all, she had always wanted to please him, she always wanted them to get along. She probably always wanted to be touched by him.

»I thought so too.« And suddenly he took a deep breath. Oh no. There was a but. »I got an offer this morning and I should tell you about it.«

»An offer?«

Louise ruffled his cute curls and then leaned forward. He folded his arms and looked at her gently. »I got a new assistant job, it pays better and is generally more my thing than working in a prison.«

»Well, that sounds great!« Honestly she was happy for him. Even though she still had to think about Neuvillette between her legs, she liked Louise and wanted him to be happy.

»Yes yes it does! It's just that I just met a really charming young woman and this job is in Inazuma.« Now Fleur understood. He would have to move away. And obviously he didn't want that. He liked her. and she liked him! But crazy... crazy was she about Neuvillette.

Neuvillette. Did he feel the same? Did he have to think about it all the time? Or was it just a short number for him? No. He had said he liked her. He had to at least think about it a little. Anyway.. somehow Fleur hoped so.

»I'd like to get to know you further, Fleur. I'm starting to like you a lot.« Louise brought her out of her thoughts again. »But to be honest, this job was always my dream.«

»You have to take this job.« And she didn't just say that because she was only thinking about Neuvillette anyway. No! She liked Louise. She would also like to continue dating him. But that was his dream. You only got a chance like that once. If any. »Well and the two of us-«

»You could come with me,« he interrupted her. And he immediately noticed how overwhelming his sentence might have been. »I mean, I know we two haven't been dating for long, but what's keeping you here? And why not risk it?«

Louise was kind of right. Actually, nothing and no one kept her in Fontaine. She had a bunch of dates that all went wrong. She had no friends, just... Neuvillette. Oh she had to talk to him. She had to clear this up with him.

»I know this is abruptly and a big decision. Just think about it and well let me know tomorrow.« Fleur nodded. And then she sat alone in front of the bakery for another hour. Louise had to go to work, well, she had too, but she had no idea how to talk to Neuvillette. She didn't even know how to look at him after last night.

But after an hour alone in front of the bakery, she finally went to work. Like every morning, she gave everyone their muffins and then opened the door to Neuvillette's office. Like every morning, he was sitting on the big chair behind his desk.

»You Late.« He didn't look up from his paperwork. He was signing something.

»I know, i'm sorry Monsieur Neuvillette.« And then he raised his head. His gaze met hers and an unusual sparkle shone in his eyes. Fleur wanted to say something, anything, but she didn't know what. And somehow she couldn't. Fleur walked to his table and put the package with the two muffins in front of him. Next to it was his tea. Neuvillette looked at her the whole time. »I know you probably won't eat any of it anyways, but still.«

Neuvillette opened the package and looked at the muffin. She had been bringing him muffins for two years and he had never eaten one in two years. At least not in front of her. Maybe he was eating them in secret. Fleur didn't know. And really, she shouldn't care. But she did care.

»Do you just want to stare at it or do you want to try it again?«

Neuvillette closed the box and looked at her. »Are you talking about the muffin or about yourself?« What? So he really wanted to talk about it. That's how he started the conversation? Wow. Great. But fine then she would talk to him about it! »Yesterday shouldn't have happened.«

Of course he would say something like that. What an asshole! But she had already managed to seduce him once. Last night. »Maybe I was talking about myself.« She leaned on his table. »Maybe I want that you try me again.«

She could see Neuvillette tensing up. Oh, he had enjoyed it yesterday. Just like her. He must be thinking about it too. She could just tell from his body language. »Fleur, stop, that's not happening.« But why not? He liked it. She liked it. What was his problem? The boss and assistant thing?

»I will never touch you again.« She shouldn't care. It wasn't supposed to affect her, but it did. Because she wanted to be touched by him. She wanted him to continue. She wanted him to never stop again.

And that's why all she got was a quiet, desperate »Why?« out of here.

Neuvillette sighed. She had never seen him so confused. He wiped his face and then leaned in toward her. »Because you liked it, because I liked it. Because I adore you, because i think you lovely.«

Fleur was confused. These were all beautiful, good things. She took a step back. »I don't understand.«

»Because you the only person that makes me smile, because you the only thing i like to watch, because you make my days better.« Neuvillette stand von seinem Stuhl auf. Er lief um den Tisch und auf sie zu. »Because you light up every room you come into, because you the reason why it suddenly stoped rain in Fontaine, because i love you Fleur.«

She would have tripped over her own feet if Neuvillette hadn't reached for her hand. He loved her? He told her that now? But still he couldn't touch her? She didn't understand.

»And that's the reason why i can't get near you anymore.« He let go of her hand and put his hands behind his back. »Fleur, I want you to have a happy life full of joy and love. You can't have that with me.«

»But you said you love me.«

Neuvillette nodded. »And I meant it. But I don't want you to miss anything because of me.« He had never spoken to her so gently. So gentle and honest. »You are mortal.«

»But you can't fuck me and then say something like that, that's not working that way!« She didn't want to, but tears welled up in her eyes. »Neuvillette i'm only thinking about you.«

»Fleur, live your life and forget me, please.« How could she ever forget him? How was she supposed to do that? He said he loves her. »You won't be happy with me.«

»Isn't that my decision?«

Neuvillette sighed. »Don't argue with me, Fleur. I can't be with you.«

So should she just accept it? That he loved her. But couldn't be with her. Fleur felt a tear flow down her cheeks. »I hate you, Neuvillette.« He didn't say anything. He just indicated a nod. »I hate you.« She pushed him against his chest basket. »I hate you!« She pushed harder, but he didn't mind.

Fleur pounded his chest with her fists, saying over and over again that she hated him until he held her hands tightly. »Fleur calm down, stop.« He held her hands in his and looked down at her. »Please.«

»Why are you doing this to me?« She looked at him with her face full of tears. »Maybe i love you too.«

Neuvillette swallowed hard. She could see that he was struggling too, but he had made his decision. She wouldn't be able to change his mind. »Fleur, I will always remember you. In this dress, your smile, but you have to live your life.«

She pulled away from his grasp. She sniffled and rubbed her eyes. She was sure she looked horrible. »I'm going to Inazuma.« The sentence surprised herself. But the sentence felt good. Inazuma. Inazuma. Inazuma.

»Say you'll remember me.«

»Even if it′s just in my wildest dreams?«

Asshole. He actually managed to get a smile out of her now. Fleur nodded. »Yes, even then.«

»I will remember you, Fleur.«
