To Believe In Christmas
~Part 2~
Two days ago we had done another test. I'm praying and hoping the results will be good. That maybe somehow God will provide a miracle. All I can do is pray...
Tonight was the night- my last night- but also my mom's night, hopefully my mission will be a success.
I wheeled around the hospital in my wheel chair as I looked at the work my friends had done. It was beautiful, stocking for all the children hung on the walls, bows and ribbons everywhere. A Christmas tree on each floor and outside they had decorated the big pine trees with pretty lights. The hospital looked like a big Christmas fun house, and only one thing could make me happier, now!
I went to the window and watched as Jack's car pulled up to the emergency drop off area. I smiled as I looked at the fallen snow on the ground. It was so pretty outside-
"Ms. Kara?" I turned my wheelchair around and gasped at the sight. It was a beautiful green velvet dress with a fluffy Shaw to go with it- and the cutest black heels I've ever seen.
"Is it for me?" I said pointing at myself, my mouth still open.
"I wouldn't want it for any other person!" she said. I wheeled over to her and ran my fingers over the soft material. She handed it to me and I gratefully took it. "Now go get dressed!" She exclaimed, I laughed but did as I was told.

After getting it own with the help of another nurse I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. My long strawberry blonde hair, had recently been cut away, it now laid at my shoulders. I slowly got up from the wheel chair, not caring if I stood. I wanted to twirl in a dress like this one last time.
My legs were weak and feeble as I grabbed the wall hard. They shook beneath me, but I was able to let go and do one little twirl, it was amazing. I missed dance and twirling so much. When you come to something like this in your life you learn to appreciate the small things in life.
I sat back down and wheeled myself out of the bathroom and into the hallway to see my mom right in front of me.
"Hi, mommy?!" I said as innocently as possible. "Merry Christmas!" I sat there agonizing and wondering if she was mad or sad, again.
"Oh honey!" She ran to me and put her harms around in the tightest hug. "Jack told me, what you wanted and were doing! You are the most amazing person on this planet-"
"No, mommy, that honour goes to you!" I said as I have her a kiss on the cheek. "I have something for you..." I slowly motioned for one of the nurses. She walked out with a beautiful red satin, Christmas gown. My mom gasped at the sight a tear started to fall.
"It's beautiful, honey!" She gave me one more hug before taking the dress. And for once on a Christmas I saw her pretty smile. I pushed her toward the bathroom well saying...
"Well, then go put it on!" I giggled.
A few minutes later she walked out and twirled.
"Wow!"I looked around to see who said that and saw Mr. Jack behind me wide eyes and all. I smiled this was going perfectly. She shied a little...
"What do you not like it?" She ran her fingers over the fabric.
"No it's not that, it's just-you look beautiful!" She blushed and walked over to hug him.
"Thanks!" It was all I could make out before my breathing stopped and my eyelids began to close, I fell back against the wheel chair. Pain ran through me like a shot of adrenaline and then I felt myself drift unconsciously away.

My eyes fluttered open once again to meet a blinding light, they squinted a few times, and adjusted to it.
"Mommy," I said, scared.
"Yes, honey, I'm here for you!" She said, I looked into her eyes and I could see her tear stained cheeks and her puffy red nose. Mr. Jack was holding her, but let her go when she saw I was awake.
"Mommy..." I had to tell her now, I've already ruined her Christmas. "I'm not going to live another day..." tears fell down my cheeks at the thought. I thought I was ready to die, but now I wasn't I didn't want to leave!
"I know..." I looked up at her in shock of the words!
"You do?"
"The doctor told me when we you had the attack in the hallway." She paused. "Sweety, I'm so sorry! You shouldn't have to be the one." She hugged me tightly.
"Mommy, I don't have long, but I want one last thing?!" I asked her.
"We don't know that for sure the doctor will be here with the test results in a few minutes!" She said trying to be positive.
"Mommy, please?" I begged her.
"Okay, sweetheart, what do you want?" She said trying to smile amongst the tears.
"Mommy, I want to see the lights on the tree, I want to see the snow on the ground, and I want to see you and Mr. Jack right infront of it all!" I cried aloud and tears fell as my voice cracked.
"Of that's what you want. Then come on!" Tears were falling down her face rapidly. Mr. Jack came and picked me up off the bed in bridal style and mom put a coat on me as we headed outside for the last time...
We walked through the front doors, me clinging to Mr.Jack's neck as I watched the stars twinkle in the night sky. The big pine tree with snow all around glistened with the lights that hung on it. I saw a shooting star in the sky and turned to my mom.
"It's all yours!" She smiled. I closed my eyes and silently mouthed it.
Dear Jesus, if your hearing this, let me have a little more time with my family!
I opened my eyes again. Then I nodded to my soon to be dad and he put me down carefully, I was able to stand-wobbly- stand.
"What are you doing?" My mom asked him.
He got down on one knee and took out the green and red ribbon box and opened it in front of her. She gasped and put her hand to her mouth.
"Ms. Fisher, for your daughter and for me, on this lovely Christmas Eve, take my hand in marriage?" He said winking at me and then turning his attention to her. I just smiled and giggled and watched as the snowflakes began to fall around us.
"Yes, yes, I will!" She said. She gave him a big hug. And then they motioned for me to join them. I ran right up to them and jumped up.
"Now I can call you, daddy!" I giggled hugging them both tightly.
"We love you, sweetheart!" They smiled.
"I love you, too!"
We heard a door bust open as we looked back toward the hospital. It was Dr. Whitefield! She was running towards us like the world was ending.
"Dr. Whitefield! What's wrong?" But before she replied she handed mom a paper.
"Look!" She said.
I watched mom's confused expression, as she kept reading, it turned to a smile.
"Kara! It's positive!" Instantly I became over joyed. Happy tears fell from my face. As I hugged both of them. I looked toward my mom and my new dad.
"Now do you believe in Christmas?!" I asked.
As she finished my sentence...
"And Christmas Miracles!"
-The End-
