The Fallen Knight- Glowing Words

"No. No, no, no! That can't be Sir Edward, my most honorable knight and trusted companion, laying on the ground," said the King of Anvil. The king was barely alive himself, having fought the incredible battle of the beasts. He was tired and dirty, bloodied and broken. But he continued to drag himself to investigate his friend's body.

The king knew with the sinking of his heart that Sir Edward ceased to live just by the way he looked, but he held onto a shred of hope that vanished as soon as he felt for his pulse and felt none. He wished to cry out in anguish, to scream at the universe, to curse the mortal who was his friend's demise. But instead, only a tear leaked from his eye, his outward appearance displaying a fraction of the turmoil he felt inside.

He was far too exhausted to mourn properly on the battlefield, anyway.

In a sort of post-war daze, the king's eyes glazed over the corpse, but then sharply focused when a strange object was spotted, halfway wedged under the body.

It was sort of shiny, but not in a reflective way like their armor, but in a kind of smooth way like a stone.

A shrill, "bing!" sounded from this object, startling the king, and he stumbled back. What kind of rabid animal was that? Either that or he was losing too much blood or something.

But as he peered closer, the stone-like-object appeared to be glowing! Was this some sort of magical beast? Upon even closer inspection, he realized that this object looked man-made.

He fumbled for a moment, taking off his gloves, and then as carefully and cautiously as he could, he retrieved the object, and examined it. There were words on it! Glowing words.

The king blinked and rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out what he was seeing. Another "bing!" nearly made him drop the thing. But to his astonishment, a white rectangle magically appeared on the glowing surface! Within this rectangle, had more glowing words.

Squinting at it, the king tried to recall studies that his tutor would press upon him as a child. Why hadn't he paid more attention to his studies?
But eventually he figured out what it said, but that did not mean he understood the meaning.

It said:
Yo bro, so did u win the war or what?

WattpadPunkFiction Prompt- The Fallen Knight

The King, battered and bloody as he was, limped across the battlefield, his tired and bedraggled form betraying the fact that although the battle was won, things could have easily gone the other way.
He dropped to his knees besides the fallen body of his bravest Knight and closest friend as a single tear rolled down his cheek something odd, half-hidden beneath his friend's corpse, caught his eye, and although he had no earthly idea what it was, he knew without question it would change everything.
