"Turn on the TV!" a co-worker of mine said, as they ran into the conference room, interrupting a conversation I was having with my supervisor.

Without question, I turned around and found the remote, clicking on the television that sat in the conference room.

"This is Kelly Newark, reporting live from New York Times Square. Pandemonium has erupted here in the city as what appears to be Godzilla rampaging the streets of New York City, and headed straight for the Empire State Building!" The camera pans out beyond the anchor to catch a glimpse of a gigantic, reptilian beast stomping through the streets, a few buildings over.

My heart dropped to my feet and my hands began to get sweaty.

The news anchor was about to elaborate, but instead a car came flying down towards her, and she screamed "Run!" And the camera went askew and then offline.

"I have to go!" I said, adrenaline kicking in. I blindly threw some of my belongings into my bag and ran out. Bewildered, my supervisor did nothing to stop me and my co-worker tried to call after me but I was long gone, racing down towards the ground level where I could catch a taxi.

After flagging one down, I jumped in and said, "Times Square, please! And quickly!"

The man turned around and gave me an incredulous look. "Are you fucking crazy, m'am? Do you know what's going on there?"

"Yes!" I said, and fished out a $50 bill. I would regret this later but I was desperate. "Now can you please step on it?"

After staring at me for another few seconds, he snatched the money and muttering under his breath, he pulled away from the curb.

We were a couple blocks away from the square when the taxi driver turned around and said, "This is as far as I'm willing to go. Good luck, lady, you're gonna need it."

I murmured my thanks and exited the vehicle, and the car sped off.

Taking a deep breath to collect myself, I walked towards the madness. Screams, the smell of burning rubber, and panic filled the air as I realized that no amount of shouting would get his attention.

I remembered the news anchor mentioning that the Empire State Building was in his path and I knew where I needed to go.

I reached the entrance quickly, and was relieved to find it unguarded. I guess nobody thought anyone would be stupid enough to want to get in the building that was going to be mauled by a monster.

The power was surprisingly still working, and I bolted to the elevator. I was grateful because there was no way I was going to climb that many stairs. I quickly smacked the button with the number 102 on it, as I remembered that it was the observation deck.

The cheery elevator music contradicted the screams of the people outside and the roars of Godzilla so much it was almost comical, and I would have laughed if it wasn't such a dire situation.

Once the little 'ding' announced my arrival on the deserted floor, I ran to the large windows and wondered what my next move would be to talk with the monster when the glass was between us.

The beating of my heart almost seemed to match the vibrations in the ground from the approaching beast, and my predicament was made easy for me when all of a sudden the entity that the public had named "Godzilla" smashed the side of the building, shattering the windows and sending glass flying everywhere. I shielded my face with my arm and winced as I felt the smallest of shards hit me.

The monster was leaving so I knew I had to act fast. My heels crunched over the glass as I ran as nimbly as I could in these shoes, racing over to the edge and called out to him, and took my shoe off my foot and flung it at him for good measure. I was going to regret throwing that

"Yo, Fredrick!" I hollered, and to my surprise it worked.

The beast turned around slowly, and for a moment I was struck with a cold fear that rushed through me. But then I had to remain strong and confident that he would never lay a finger on me.

His eyes widened when he realized it was me, and walked closer slowly, almost carefully until he reached me. I was at the perfect height to look straight into his eyes.

Once I was sure I had his attention, I said, "Hey what's going on? Look, I know you didn't part with her on the best of terms, but that's no excuse to go destroying the city. Is that what this is about?"

He looked away, shame somehow written on his gigantic features. I sighed, my heart breaking for my little brother. "It wasn't right that she dumped you on Valentine's Day, not to mention over text."

He nodded sadly, and I continued, "We can look into getting professional help, because being an old public enemy isn't going to help anyone, and will most likely get you killed."

Fredrick nodded again, understanding in his eyes. "I love you, little bro," I said, and he said it back to me the best he could in monster form, "ah row oo."
