A young, kick-butt but average girl with not many distinctive looks named Ellie came and sat down at a restaurant table and waited for her friends. She was cool and composed and not overly emotional because she was not like most girls.

Thankfully, she didn't have to wait long because her friend Fin waked in. "Hey, how are you?" she greeted.

"Fine." Fin said. He was known to be very brief.

"That's great!" she said, "I'm doing fine as well. I wonder when Misty will show up."

He shrugged.

They didn't have to wait long until the girl in question appeared. "Hi everyone!" she greeted, "Sorry, I was caught up in nonexistent family matters," and then she sat down.

The waiter came by and asked them what they wanted to order.

"I'll have something ordinary but exotic, thank you," was Ellie's order.

"I'll have the tuna melt and...." Fin said. He didn't always finish his sentences.

"And a water," Ellie finished for him.

"And you, ma'am?" the waiter asked Misty.

"I'll have the chicken sub but I don't know why because I have no backstory," she declared, and the waiter gave her a strange look and said, "Alright, I'll be back with your orders," before retreating back to the kitchen.

Ellie represents my tendency to write main characters that are basically self-inserts or at least a cooler version of myself.

Fin represents my inability to finish a story longer than 1k words.

And Misty represents my weakness of not developing characters' backstories, families, and histories.

June 27th Prompt:

Make a list of your 3 greatest weaknesses as a writer. Now write a short story using those three weaknesses.
