Abbie's Wednesday started off normally enough, but when she got to school, she found out that she was the only one there.
"Where in the world did everyone go?" She asked herself as she looked around the classroom still wondering. Her mom was home...maybe she was gone too! She gasped and ran all the way to her house.
When she got there, she was out of breath, but she managed to get inside. To her relief, her mother had gone to the store because she took the blue stick. They color code where they go, don't judge them.
Her mother left her a note. The note said,
Dear Abbie,
Mommy has went to the store to buy some more food for our growing family. Father and I forgot to tell you that I'm pregnant! Baby number four is on the way! I-
"Abbie?" Her parents called with her little sister and brother with them. Abbie dropped the note in the fire and ran to her family. She hugged her mom and poked her belly.
"No more kids right?" She asked her parents. Her parents looked at each other and laughed.
"No dear, those days are over, no more kids in this family. I think three is enough for this family," her father said patting her on the head. Her little siblings ran past her and went to play in their rooms.
"Why are you here so early from school?" Her mother asked her as Abbie helped her with the groceries.
"No one was at school, so I decided to check on you guys to make sure that you were alright," Abbie responded with. He father hugged her tight.
"I'm glad you care about family, darling," he said as his daughter hugged him back.
In the corner of her eye, she saw that her mother looked worried which made her worried. Did her mother know something about her school peers' disappearance? She watched her mother turn away from them and walk away.

Later that night Abbie went to sleep, and she started to dream.
In her dream she ended up back into her classroom where there was nobody there. Abbie heard noise coming from the white board. She turned to see a news headline where it talked about everyone from her middle school was gone.
All except her.
Some people started to call her a witch, many were crying, wanting their kids back, only three said that her mother did it.
That made Abbie mad. No one calls her mother a witch. She was so angry that the white board went dead. She opened her eyes and gasped. She made the board melt. She started to feel scared. Was she really a witch?
She ran outside where her whole town was deserted. Even her family was gone. Where did they go? Something tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around to see a ghost of one of her teachers. She shuffled a scream when the ghost said, "Do not be afraid for you are the only one who can save us."
"Ms. Tilpeu, where is 'us'?" Abbie asked. The ghost answered her questions by calling the others, and they were surrounded by ghosts who were the townsfolk. Abbie saw her family among them and sobbed. Her mother laid a soft hand on her shoulder.
"Do not cry Abbie, for this was destined to happen. Here, take this necklace, my mother gave it to me, and now I pass it down to you my dear," she said giving her daughter the necklace. Abbie looked at her.
"Why are you giving me this?" She asked.
"Because you're the next witch..."
Abbie jolted awake to see a few ghost fade from her window. She went to check on her family who we're humans and not ghosts. She sighed in relief and went to sleep not knowing that the necklace was in her lap. The necklace that created a path for her future.
