Bottle on the beach
Bottle on the beach
It was a regular morning on a regular day on a regular beach
there was nothing spectacular otr different about it,except perhaps for the abundance of seashells which she found on the shore that day. Little Miss was walking along the warm sands with a bucket and spade in hand.
She was going to make the biggest sandcastle of all, she would be queen and she would rule over all the people. She would allow everyone to eat sweets for each meal of the day and she would make homework illegal!
that was what Little Miss thought as she walked along the water line
She had to go back and forth, the sun beating on her neck, the wind threatening to steal her hat as she walked towards the water to collect the cement to keep the sand together
She had accidentally went further then she was supposed to go, but she hadn't noticed. She was visiting her grandparents, she always went to the beach when she visited her grandparents
She wore a red bather and green flip-flops which fell off her feet occasionally. She had insisted on wearing them, it made her feel much more grown up.
She decorated her castle with shells, it was around about the same height as she was! she was extremely proud of it, she oculdn't wait to show her parents!
She ran back to where her family was, not knowing that they had been watching her every move since she had left them(edited)
"Grandpa! come look!" she said as she pulled on her grandfather's hand. He gave a chuckle, groaning as he got out of the chair .
"What is it, my little ladybug?" He asked cheerfully, he knew quite well what it was
"I made a castle! come look!" She continued to pull on his hand until he decided to give in and follow her. He gawked and acted astonished as he looked at the pile of sand his granddaughter had created, if it was a castle for his little ladybug then he would be sure to act like he had seen a most wonderful castle
"There is a bridge thingy, there's window ...place thingies" He chuckled as his granddaughter did not know of the word balcony. "there's- what's that?" she questioned as she pointed a little way away from them, towards the sea.
Her grandfather had to clean his glasses in order to get a better loook. "I'm not sure dear, why don't we go closer?" He held her hand as the two of them walked towards the object
The object was a rather dirty and sandy bottle, it was clear there was something on the inside. Her grandfather was careful as he bent down, brushing the sand off it slightly. "it's a message in a bottle!" he said in wonder. He hadn't seen one of these in years. "My, that does bring back memories." he said cheerfully.
"why would there be a message within a bottle, grandpa?" Little Miss asked , tilting her head to the side with curiosity. "wouldn't it be easier to ....phone?"
Her grandfather rolled his eyes slightly and laughed at his granddaughter. "back in my day, we didn't have phones! though this type of communication is often...well...unusual!" He was eager to find out what the letter said. He took the top of gently and reached in, pulling the perfectly dry piece of parchment out.
"what does it say?" Little Miss tried to look, standing on her tippy toes, yet she was still unable to read it.
"It says..." He paused for a dramatic effect. "To whom this may concern, just as a candle may burn. I hope this day brings you love, and wishes from the heavens above. I wish for you good cheer and good times with those you hold dear"
