Trapped
I could feel the hands creeping over my face and neck, children's hands. They were harmless, yet they made me feel like I was suffocating, sinking into the sea of hands, of darkness. I looked up to see their faces looking down at me, tormenting me, killing me. They started to laugh, before they walked away, out of the room. I took a sharp intake of air as I realised their hands were no longer suffocating me.
I looked down at my wrists to see the violet lacing them, and I assumed my neck would be the same. I tried to stand, but collapsed to the ground in a heap. 'I need to get out, but how?' I thought to myself, looking around for any kind of escape route. The window on the opposite side of me seemed to be the only way out besides the door the children came through.
Crawling onto my hands and knees, I make my way over to the window, suddenly I feel something tug at my torn and bloody coat, I turn to see another child, I force my scream not to come out, but I wasn't sure if the child was with the others.
"Please help us, were just like you, trapped!" The child stared at me with onyx eyes, they lifted a hand up to me, the blood drips ding from a gash on it. "Help us, were just like you, trapped!"
I could feel my heart pulse in my chest, as panic coursed through my veins. I didn't know what to do, I had to get out but the children here would slow me down, yet I would feel guilty leaving them here to face death.
W . . . Where are the others?" I said, and as I did another 10 or so children came out form behind the walls.
"Are you going to help us?" They all said at the same time, making it seem like it was one voice but with many tones, yet it sounded calm.
"I'll try." I replied with determination.
I was going to help these children a much as I could, and that meant getting them out.
"I'll lift you up to the window and you can break it open, then we'll help each other out." As I said that all the children smiled, they seemed so happy, almost a if no one had helped them before.
I lifted one of the children up towards the window, but they didn't quite reach it. One of the older children, or I assumed they were older due to their height, came over to me. I lifted her up and they hit the glass, shattering it. She then climbed up and sat in it, waiting to help others out.
I had lifted most of the others up, but soon we could hear footsteps coming back, they all scrambled into my shoulders to get out, and they all did.
"Help me up." I whispered as I lifted up my hands, I was just tall enough for her to reach me.
She looked at me and smiled, "thank you for helping us get out, but now your the only one trapped!" Her grin stayed plastered on her face as she slid down out of view, but it no longer appeared to be happiness of getting out. No, it was pure evil, for leaving me in.
I stood there dumbfounded, unsure of what had just happened.
"What do you think your doing?" I heard all of the children ask at the same time so it again sounded like one voice with many tones, but this time evil.
Their hands went around my neck again, pulling me to the ground, suffocating me, killing me.
Eventually I'll get out, eventually.
But for now, I'm trapped!
So then this isn't at all odd, but what do you expect of me?!
Anyway here's another short story, and hopefully there will be more.
