I could hear the splash of the water from underneath my feet, I pulled my hoodie further over my face as I saw the droplets of rain on my glasses. I sighed, "hey Eddy, when do ya think the rain'll stop?" I turned to face my brother.

"I don't know Kat, I don't control it." He said while rolling his eyes.

"Well I was just asking." I muttered under my breath, but he still heard.

"Why do ya always do that?" He growls at me.

"What do you mean?" I said while staring at him completely dumbfounded.

"You ask the stupidest questions and expect me to have an answer. What am I, a walking encyclopaedia or something?" He said while glaring at me.

"I didn't mean to annoy you." I muttered while pulling my phone out of my pocket, only to have It snatched out of my hands and placed in my older brothers pocket. "Hey wad ya do that for?" I said glaring.

"You were gonna get it wet, then we'd both be dead." He shrugged at me.

"I was gonna keep it under my jacket out of the rain." I replied, shoving my hands into my now empty pockets.

"Well knowing your luck you would have-" he was cut short as I tripped over a loose brick and fell straight into a puddle of water. "Fallen over." He laughed while clutching his stomach.

I growled towards him as I lifted myself out of the water. I could feel my eyes start to burn as I tried not to cry, and before I knew it, I was running.

"Wait Kat, come back, I was only kidding!" Ed screamed after me, but I knew he meant every word he said.

I ran for a while longer before coming to a bus shelter, I sat down and went to grab my phone out of my pocket, when I couldn't find it I panicked, but then I remembered my brother taking it. I tried to figure out where I was, but none of the scenery was familiar and I couldn't read any of the signs in the rain. I gave up and lifted my school bag onto the bench before laying my head on it, falling into a dreamless sleep in a matter of minutes.

I woke up from the sun hitting my face, when I opened my eyes I panicked, wondering what I was doing. Then everything came flooding back to me. I was about to try and figure out where I was when I heard a rumbling coming from my stomach. I sat back down and pulled my bag into my lap, being thankful that I never ate all my lunch. I pulled out half an eaten sandwich.

After eating my leftover lunch, I started walking around, trying to find a way to tell where I was. I spent the whole day wondering around, I had come across a few signs, but I didn't recognise any if the places. Just as the sun was starting to set, I came across a bakery. I ran to it and pulled my wallet out of my bag before purchasing a few buns and starting a conversation with the lady.

"So what are you doing out here? I've never seen you around before." She smiled warmly down at me.

"Well you see." I started to scratch the back of my head, thinking of a good excuse, but suddenly I heard the TV in the background.

"And the latest news, a 13 year old girl Katrina Curtis had been missing for a whole night and day, the family is asking that everyone keep an eye out."

"I'm that girl." I said pointing to the picture on the TV, she turned around to compare me to the image on the screen. "Do you think you could please take me to the police station so they can call my parents?" I said as nicely as I could, as the thought struck me that I would be all over the news.

"Course darling, just let me shut the shop." She smiled at me.

After she shut the shop and drove me to the station, my parents were called. They came straight to the station along with my brother. My mum started frantically checking me over to see if I was badly hurt. "What were you thinking? Why didn't you call us, we have you a phone for a reason?" She said staring down at me.

I lifted my hand and pointed towards my brother, "he took my phone away from me before I got lost." Both my parents eyes averted from me to my brother, he glared at me, but I just smiled.
