Kickstart

Well this is a story that I wrote for kickstart which is basically biblical studies at my school, and I had to write this for an assessment, thought I'd share it with you all. And yes it does have Christianity in it, just letting you know now.

"Why should I read the bible? I know all I should about Jesus, and that's all I want to know not fill my head with trash that I don't need to know!"

"I'm not saying that you should read the whole bible, but it would be good to read a little everyday, you know learn some of Gods word so you feel closer to him and so that he can talk to you."

"Anna, I understand where you are coming from but I'm not the little preachers girl that you are so please just leave me alone."

"Fine, but please have a read of this, I marked out two places, they tell you why you should read it." She placed a worn leather bound bible with four pieces of pink paper sticking out. She turned around and started to walk out the door, but then she stopped and looked back at me. "Just, please have a look, and then decide for yourself." She gave me a slight smile but I could see the water in her eyes as she felt that she had failed. She finally got to the door after what seemed like a million lifetimes of walking and when she opened the door she was greeted by a strong gust of wind pushing her back into the house. She pushed her way against the wind and shut the door, I don't know why but I ran to the window to see her go. I saw her blond hair blowing in the wind an her battling against it trying not to fall over, she finally got to her car. She tried to pull at the door but it wouldn't budge, so I ran out to help her, as the wind hit my face it felt like I was being slapped with an ice-cube. I pushed myself towards her car and opened the door for her.

"Please read it, for me!" She battled against the wind for me to hear her but I did. And I couldn't stop thinking about it even after she drove off, then suddenly it hit me, not the wind a thought but the wind was hitting me as well. I ran to my car and started to drive into town and came to a stop at the church, I ran out of my car and into the large doors to escape the wind I strolled down the long isle to come to a candle lit stage.

"Hello there Rodger."

I turned around in fright and then saw that it was the pastor, "hello pastor Aidan."

"What have you come here for my son."

"I was hoping that you could answer a question for me?"

"Why not."

"Ok, why do you think that we should read the bible?"

"Well I guess that well reading the bible we can learn about God and his power, love for us, and about why he came to earth for all the people you know and died for all of our sins and about how if we love him and put our faith in him he will forgive us well he does this if we love him or not but we have to repent to him so that he can accept us into heaven to live eternally with him."

"Thank you pastor Aidan, but I have to go now."

"I hope that helps you."

"Yes, yes it helps a lot." I turned around and walked back to my car, I drove around for a little while wondering who else I could ask. Then I drove past my parents house, so I stopped and turned the car around, before pulling into their driveway.

"Dad, are you home?!"

"Hey Rodger, how are ya son?"

"Yeh I'm fine, just been thinking a bit."

"About what?"

"Well actually I came round hoping you could answer a question for me?"

"Course I could, what wise information do you want from me." My dad said laughing, and I just shook my head.

"Well, why do you think we should read the bible?"

"Hmmm, that's a hard one however we should read the bible because just like any record of historical settings people made a lot of mistakes and some overcame those difficult times and some died as a result. But even now we can learn from their mistakes and in doing that we can see God's ultimate plan for our lives."

"Thanks dad, I'll see ya round."

"Course, drop round if you have anything else to ask me."

"Well I hope I'll see you soon." I turned around as I waved goodbye.

After driving back out of town, and to my house I had used that trip to think a lot about what pastor Aidan and dad had said. 'So that we can learn about God and his power, love for us, and about why he came to earth for all the people you know and died for all of our sins and about how if we love him and put our faith in him he will forgive us well he does this if we love him or not but we have to repent to him so that he can accept us into heaven to live eternally with him.' 'we should read the bible because just like any record of historical settings people made a lot of mistakes and some overcame those difficult times and some died as a result. But even now we can learn from their mistakes and in doing that we can see God's ultimate plan for our lives.'

When I came up to my drive way I walked back into the house and threw the keys on the
table, but i heard them hit something and turned to see the bible still sitting there, I walked over to the table and picked it up before opening it to the first mark.

'Revelations 1:1-20
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that
must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood' I stood there and thought about it for a while before turning to the other pages marked out.

'Psalm 56:4
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Joshua 1:8
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

I placed the book back on the table before grabbing my phone and dialling Anna. "Hey Anna, look I'm sorry about what I said before."

"It's fine." She said from the other side of the line.

"Well I guess what I wanted to call for was to say that I agree with you, I should read the bible more often."

"That's great, I'm glad I could help you." I placed the phone down as she hung up and picked the bible back up smiling.
