This is an Artemis Fowl fanfiction with a character from FirstRookieMistake's story "The Life Of Rachel Moore", James. I'm writing this for her contest.

Takes place in between the 3rd and 4th books in the series, so tread lightly for possible spoilers.

LEPRecon Major James Moore sighed as he shuffled through some papers. Things underground had been busy lately, considering the goblin revolts and the Opal Koboi situation, and everything surrounding that one Mud Boy. Arthur Free, or something. And he wanted to get aboveground. He looked at the list of assignments.

There was only one on the list: Ancient fairy relic found in the Atlantic ocean. Retrieve it before it can get into Mud People hands.

That sounded fun. He would get to go aboveground, swim in an actual ocean, grab an artifact, and maybe stop by a beach and raid an ice cream store (don't tell Commander Root) before zipping back underground. Easy as tunneling is for a dwarf, right?

Wrong.
