Coffee Shop

Prompt 3 of December Dallies       -KawaiiQueen-

(I can already tell I'm going to have fun with this one)

The sun has been up for about an hour and it was a busy time at the local coffee shop near her house. There was another one near by, a new one but she had a loyalty to this one for an unknown reason and she supposed there was no harm in that.

She lifted her coffee letting the steam warm her, ice cold cheeks. It wasn't cold out, her face was just always cold, almost frostbitten at times. She took a sip of her small coffee before looking at the time.

'Relax, he's not coming, just stop looking for him,' she told herself, but she was still looking for him, and she still saw him come in every time the door opened just for it to be someone else.

'I'll finish this coffee, and that's it,' she promised herself, but her heart wasn't sure if that was a promise she could keep.

It was minutes and minutes of waiting and sipping on her coffee, waiting for him to show, and constantly jumping up to greet him when that door opened. They broke it off last Saturday, but somehow they decided it was a mistake and made plans to meet up, to see if they could work it out.

And she wanted to. Oh she wanted to but something told her that it just wasn't going to happen. And soon enough her coffee was done, and she made a promise to herself. She wasn't going to wait for someone, who didn't care. So she picked up her things and walked out the door.

But what she didn't see, was a panting man walking in, it was obvious he had been running. He had hoped to make things right, running can get you there faster, but running doesn't work when it's time you're against.
